The shift in trends in organizing MICE events which are conventionally known as mass gathering activities and as a result of the pandemic there have been changes. This already happened in all countries in the world which then responded with various policies to maintain business sustainability despite being pessimistic. Stakeholders are hesitant in changing the paradigm of MICE activities from conventional models to virtual or hybrid models. This doubt is caused by the advantages and disadvantages of each type of event which will most likely reduce business profits. A simple literature review known as feature selection is used to find answers to this problem. Based on the analysis it was found that event activities are now popular in virtual and hybrid ways. Both virtual and hybrid events have changed the conventional perspective of understanding events. Although the implementation is simpler, the two events have a smaller economic impact compared to regular events that were popular in the pre-pandemic era. This paper also tries to find case studies in several countries that have successfully organized MICE events during the pandemic. In the end, a new taxonomy of event management emerged, namely original (regular) events, virtual events, and hybrid events. This change in the landscape of organizing MICE events will be an important consideration for MICE business people who may experience stagnation in recent times due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The world of tourism in West Sumatra, including in Payakumbuh City, experienced a significant degradation during the Covid-19 pandemic. Various tourism events are not held in line with the recommendation for social distancing. This study aims to analyze the Kurenah Ibu Festival activities as an alternative to domestic tourism during the Covid 19 pandemic in West Sumatra. This research was conducted with a qualitative approach adapted to the context of tourism and event research, with content analysis methods that consider several factors from the festival management. The results showed that the management of the Kurenah Ibu Festival as an alternative domestic tourism destination during the Covid 19 pandemic was made possible by several factors, namely: first, choosing a strategic location that is easily accessible by visitors from various directions; second, materials are varied choices that can attract visitors of all ages; three, the application of the CHSE protocol which guarantees health, safety, and security; and four, combining online and offline formats that allow the public from far away to access activities while reducing the number of visitors at the festival. The concept of the Community Festival offered by Kurenah Ibuah Festival, can be a model for the implementation of Tourism Events in the context of the post-pandemic resilience process.

In recent years, the rapid growth of virtual technology has penetrated the tourism industry, and the pandemic has boosted its tremendous growth worldwide, including in Indonesia. Travel restrictions due to prevention strategies during the COVID-19 pandemic have been responsible for increasing the demand for virtual tours and creating a niche market in tourism, rather than only being a tool for promotional marketing. It is deemed important to understand the market in order to develop a sustainable market in this sector successfully. Therefore, this study examined the motivations of virtual tourists and determined whether virtual tour experiences can influence their motivation to visit the destination. First, a quantitative research method using factor analysis with a total of 111 (n) completed questionnaires was performed. Then, with content analysis, the descriptive representation of the content was established to support the factor dimension. This study found that there were five factors of the main motivations for tourists to do virtual tour activities. They are “Relaxing & well-being”, “Novelty”, “Education & Learning”, “Tendency to visit the destination”, and “Digital experience”. Furthermore, this study found that the real physical travel experience is irreplaceable, but virtual tour brings new & unique experience to tourists. The results of this research can be implemented by the tourism business to enhance the understanding and development of the future of virtual tours experience in the tourism industry. It can also contribute to the current knowledge of digital tourism applications, particularly in Indonesia’s context.

This research aims to describe postmodern tourism attractions, in the form of potential and suggestions for development strategies that can be done in the tourist area of Tawangmangu Sub-District. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. The case study in this study is a postmodern tourism object in Tawangmangu Sub-District, Karanganyar, Indonesia. Qualitative analysis to illustrate the attractions of postmodernism and SWOT analysis to determine usable development strategies. The results show that the potential of postmodernism tourism attractions in Tawangamangu Sub-District is a combination of natural potential in the form of atmosphere, temperature, and beauty of the location on the West Slope of Mount Lawu; and potential attractions made by developers, some of them: Sakura Hills, The Lawu Park, Sekipan Hill, New Balekambang, Kampung Halloween, and Rumah Atsiri Indonesia. Development suggestions can be done by optimizing strengths and potentials by minimizing weaknesses and threats. The situation in the postmodernism era brings diversity, one of which is diversity in the construction of tourism attractions. Postmodern tourism object has a variety of shapes and designs, accommodating patterns from inside and outside Indonesian culture. To face the development of postmodern tourism development, the active role of the community is needed to anticipate the inclusion of culture from outside that is not following Indonesian culture, and not to weaken the culture of the local community itself.

There is a growing expectation for the iconic statue to emerge as a tourism icon, particularly in Bali, Indonesia; following the completion of the Garu-da Wisnu Kencana Statue in 2018. Therefore, this quantitative study was car-ried out to answer the two key research questions; Are potential tourists aware of the presence of this new landmark after the development and whether there is an influence on motivation to visit, particularly for foreign tourists? The study was conducted using an online survey that was sent to 80 foreign tourists from all around the world. The findings revealed that the majority of respondents in this survey were uninformed of the statue's presence, and that if they were aware of its presence, it had an impact on their desire to visit Bali. This makes it critical to raise public awareness about the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Statue, which located at the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park in Bali, Indonesia and suggested that the presence of Garuda Wisnu Kencana Statue can be op-timally used as a significant marketing tools by Indonesian Ministry of Tourism. Theoretical implications include summarizing the key elements of a tourism destination with a tourism icon that attracts potential tourists. Practical implica-tions include presenting measurement on steps to maximize the presence of a tourism icon with a variety of expectations from potential tourists.

The purpose of the study is to determine the methods used by hotels in dealing with the crisis caused by the Covid 19 pandemic and assess their impacts. This is descriptive qualitative research focused on describing the strategies implemented by these hotels and the data obtained were analyzed through 1) description or orientation, 2) reduction, and 3) selection stages. The process involves comprehensively understanding the focus set and analyzing the direction of the problem. Moreover, the result which was in the form of a theme obtained from the data was constructed into knowledge, hypotheses, and even new theories. It is important to note that the Labuan Bajo hotel deserted due to COVID-19 was used as a case study in providing innovation or new ways of managing hospitality to ensure the survival of the business. This is necessary because active incomes are only obtained through guest visits and tourists’ patronage but are ineffective due to restrictions made by the government on tourism activities. It was eventually recommended that hotels in Labuan Bajo need to continue meeting operational needs during the pandemic. Furthermore, the Hospitality Management Restructuring strategy implemented to deal with the Covid 19 crisis was considered quite successful by hoteliers in Labuan Bajo because it positively impacted the sustainability of the hotel business during the pandemic.
