Effect of Applying Nursing Instructions Brochure on Outcomes for Patients Undergoing Cystoscopy 应用护理指南手册对膀胱镜检查患者疗效的影响

Background: Cystoscopy is one of the most frequent urological procedures. Aim: To evaluate the effect of applying nursing instructions brochure on the outcomes of patients undergoing cystoscopy. Research design: Quasi-experimental research design. Setting: The study was conducted at Assiut University Urology Hospital (male, female urology departments and outpatients). Sample: One hundred patients were divided into two equal groups; study and control groups. Tools: (I): Patient assessment form . Part (I): Socio-demographic data for the Patient, Part (II): Medical data, Part (III): Patient knowledge assessment form. Tool II: Beck anxiety inventory. Tool (III): Patient satisfaction questionnaire . Results: the majority of both groups had never a cystoscopy. Prostate enlargement affected more than 25% of the study group, while hematuria affected 32% of the control group. Conclusion: Significant improvement in knowledge, anxiety, and satisfaction level for study group after applying nursing instructions brochure. Recommendation: Nursing instructions brochure for patients undergoing cystoscopy should be available for patients undergoing cystoscopy.

Effect of Nursing Intervention Protocol on Outcomes of Patients undergoing Lower Limb Ilizarov External Ring Fixation 护理干预方案对下肢伊利扎洛夫外环固定术患者疗效的影响

Background: Maintaining stability of external fixation is an important part in nursing management by creating plans that teach patients about care of ilizarov ring fixation devices. Aim: Assess the effect of nursing intervention protocol on outcomes of patients undergoing Ilizarov external ring fixation. Design: A quasi experimental design was used Sample: 60 adult patients were randomly assigned into 2 equal groups for a purposive study. Setting: The study conducted in the Trauma& Orthopedic Department at the Assiut University Hospital and the affiliation clinic. Tools : I: Patient's assessment sheet, II: Patients' Stirling’s Pressure Ulcer Severity Scale, III: Checketts & Otterburn's Grading System and IV: Kurz normal ranges of joint motion scale . Results: A statistically significant differences between study and control groups related to infection grading, ROM, wound care post implementation of the nursing intervention protocol. Conclusion: The nursing intervention protocol has a positive effect on patient outcomes in relation to promoting the wound healing and reducing pin site infection, improving joint function and preventing pressure ulcer . Recommendations: The nursing intervention protocol should serve as the basis for routine nursing care for patients with external fixators to improve their outcomes.

Assessment of Nurses' knowledge about the (PALM-COEIN) Classification System for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding at Assiut city 评估阿苏特市护士对异常子宫出血分类系统(PALM-COEIN)的了解程度

: Background: Abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) is one of the most serious problems that face females all over the world not only through their reproductive age but also after menopause. The International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) described and published the PALM-COEIN classification, which classify the underlying etiologies of (AUB). Aim: This study aims at assessing nurses’ knowledge about the (PALM-COEIN) classification system for AUB. Methods: Descriptive cross sectional design was used. Setting: The hospital for obstetrics, gynecology, and pediatrics in Assiut city. Samples: A convenient sample of 100 nurses were involved. Tools: The researcher designed a self-administered questionnaire. Results: The percentage of nurses who had satisfactory and inadequate understanding of the (PALM-COEIN) categorization system for AUB was approximately 38% and 62%, respectively. There was a statistically significant difference between the investigated nurses' overall knowledge level and educational background. Conclusion: Most of the studied nurses had unsatisfactory knowledge about the (PALM-COEIN) classification system for AUB. Recommendations: maternity nurses should be encouraged to participate in an educational program regarding the (PALM-COEIN) classification system for AUB in order to enhance their knowledge and nursing care.

Nurses' Awareness Regarding Hospitals Accreditation Standards and Organizational Learning Culture 护士对医院评审标准和组织学习文化的认识

: Background: Awareness of hospital accreditation standard and its application is prerequisite to successful organizational learning culture. Aim: Determine nurse's awareness regarding hospital accreditation standards and assess organizational learning culture. Design : Descriptive design Setting : The research was carried out at South Egypt Cancer Institute in Assiut City. Subject : Includes (200) nurse, Methods : Three data collection tools: Personal data sheet, Hospital accreditation standards awareness questionnaire and Organizational learning culture questionnaire. Results : More than one third of nurses aware of hospital accreditation standard dimensions , but less than two third of nurses were not aware about hospital accreditation standard dimensions. Less than half of nurses had agreed that their organization had high organizational learning culture , meanwhile more than half of nurses had agreed that their organization had low organizational learning culture. Conclusion There are positive correlations between both awareness regarding hospitals accreditation standards and organizational learning culture dimensions. Recommendations : Developing strategies to support continuous learning to promote a strong organizational learning culture , and development opportunities to healthcare provider on a regular basis, further researches to test application of hospital accreditation standard and its effect on suitable or sustainable development goals (SDG)

Effect of Training Program on Nurses’ Competencies in Preventing and Controlling Intrapartum Hemorrhage 培训计划对护士预防和控制产后出血能力的影响

Background: Intrapartum hemorrhage is a primary contributor to maternal morbidity worldwide. Nurses have a vital role in preventing intrapartum hemorrhage through their competences which directly impacts the standard of care and health results. Aim: Assess the effect of training program on nurses’ competencies in preventing and controlling intrapartum hemorrhage. Design: Quasi-experimental research design was utilized. Setting: At Dar Sahet Elmar`Aa hospital and El-Hayah Port Fouad hospital in the city of Port Said. Subjects: Convenience sampling of all 57 staff nurses. Tools: A structured interview, a nurse's competency observational checklist, and an attitude likert scale were utilized to gather data. Results: About 48.2% of the nurses had satisfactory knowledge levels before receiving a training program, compared to 88.4% & 79% after and at one month follow up. Only 39.1% of the nurses had competent practice levels preprogram, compared to 81.8% & 75.4% after and at one month follow up. Additionally, 57.9% of the nurses prior a training program had positive attitude, compared to 94.2% and 90% after and at one month follow up. Moreover, overall practices scores of the studied sample had a positive statistical correlation with their total attitude scores. Conclusion: Following a competency training program, nurses' overall knowledge, practice, and attitude scores enhanced at post and at one month follow up compared to before. Additionally, overall practices scores of the studied sample had a positive statistical correlation with their total attitude scores. Recommendations: Continuous educational and training programs aimed at avoidance of intra-partum hemorrhage are ought to be applied for nurses in both governmental and nongovernmental sectors.

The Effect of Chest Tube Instructional Package Application on Pediatric Nurses' Performance 胸腔置管教学包的应用对儿科护士工作表现的影响

Background : The role of the pediatric nurse in managing a chest tube in a pediatric child is vital for ensuring the child's safety, comfort, and optimal recovery. Aim: To evaluate the effect of chest tube instructional package application on pediatric nurses' performance. Design: One group pre-posttest quasi-experimental research design utilized to achieve the aim of the current study. Setting: The study was conducted in post-operative cardiac care and emergency units of Cairo University Specialized Pediatric Hospital (CUSPH). Sample: A convenient sample of 50 nurses who cared for children with chest tubes in the post-operative cardiac care unit and in the emergency unit. Tools: four tools were used to collect the required data a nurses' personal data tool, nurses' knowledge assessment tool, an observational checklist and the child's hospital stay tool. Results: the study revealed that there were statistically significant differences between total mean score of nurses' knowledge before and after application of the instructional package as well as nurses' practices mean score P value = 0.000. Conclusion: The study concluded that the instructional package has a significant impact on nurses' performance in caring for children with chest tubes. Tools: four tools were used to collect the required data a nurses' personal data tool, nurses' knowledge assessment tool, an observational checklist and the child's hospital stay tool. Results: the study revealed that there were statistically significant differences between total mean score of nurses' knowledge before and after application of the instructional package as well as nurses' practices mean score P value = 0.000. Conclusion: The study concluded that the instructional package has a significant impact on nurses' performance in caring for children with chest tubes. Effect of Instructional Guidelines on Nurses' Perceived Barriers Regarding Medical Errors Disclosure 教学指南对护士认知医疗事故披露障碍的影响

Background: Despite global efforts, medical errors continue to pose a serious challenge to patient safety. Between the need for medical error disclosure as a key tool for error prevention and the fear of disclosures' negative threats, nurses are confronted with challenges and barriers to disclosing and reporting medical errors. Aim: The current study aimed to evaluate the effect of instructional guidelines on nurses' perceived barriers regarding medical error disclosure. Design: A quasi-experimental design with one group (pretest and posttest) was used. Setting: The study was carried out at inpatient departments and outpatient clinics affiliated to Mansoura University Hospital, Egypt. Subjects: A purposive sample of 100 nurses with different educational levels were eligible to be enrolled in the study. Tools: The researchers using two tools: Nurses' demographic characteristics, and professional data questionnaire, and the barriers to error disclosure assessment tool. Results: The results showed that all the studied nurses (100%) were exposed to medical errors and had barriers to disclosing them. Nurses’ knowledge and confidence abilities to disclose medical errors were the most significant perceived barriers, with total mean scores of 4.37±0.43. After implementing instructional guidelines, nurses' perceived barriers regarding medical error disclosure significantly differed (t = 58.918 & p = 0.000), in which the total mean score of the perceived barriers improved to 2.89±0.33 post-implementing the guidelines compared to 4.24±0.36 pre-implementing the guidelines. Conclusion: The current study concluded that empowering the studied nurses by implementing the instructional guidelines had a positive effect on their perceived barriers regarding medical error disclosure. Recommendations: Raising nurses awareness regarding medical error disclosure by adding disclosure guidelines to the curricula of educational nursing institutions, in addition to incorporating them into ongoing in-service training programs at different health care settings.

Nursing Students' Anxiety, Self -Satisfaction and Attitudes Toward Electronic Online Exams 护理专业学生对电子在线考试的焦虑、自我满意度和态度

Background: Nursing universities have a short history of using electronic online exams as an integral part of students’ assessment that have the potential to trigger anxiety in nursing students. The success of the electronic online exams can be measured based on students’ self-satisfaction and attitudes. Aim: Identify nursing students' anxiety, self-satisfaction and attitudes toward electronic online exams. Design: Descriptive exploratory research design was used . Setting: The study conducted at the Faculty of Nursing, Tanta University . Tools: Three tools were used. Tool (I): Test Anxiety Questionnaire, Tool (II): Student's satisfaction toward electronic online exams and Tool (III): Student’s attitudes toward electronic online exams. Results: 63.4 % of nursing students had moderate level of anxiety toward electronic online exam, and 62.9% of students expressed moderate level of satisfaction. Whereas, 83% of nursing students in first academic year had positive attitude toward online exam compared to 49.1% of fourth academic year. There was a highly statistically significant relation between sex, academic years and student’ anxiety. Also, it was a highly statistically significant relation between academic year, number of previous online exams and student' attitudes. Conclusion: Female students had a higher anxiety than male toward online exam and first year students had higher scores of positive attitude toward online exam than other students. Moreover, student’s anxiety correlates positively with the poor attitude and negatively with student’s satisfaction. Recommendations: The nursing students on the third and fourth academic year should be prepared well with frequent electronic online quizzes or exams.

Effect of implementing noise reduction interventions on sound levels and alarm fatigue in intensive care units 实施降噪干预措施对重症监护室声级和警报疲劳的影响

: Background: Excessive noise is a serious issue for patients in intensive care units, and it has the potential to have a negative psychological impact on patients' prognoses. As a result, the World Health Organization advises that hospitals' noise levels should not rise above 35 dB during the day and 30 dB at night. Objective: Evaluate the effect of implementing noise reduction nursing interventions on alarm fatigue and sound levels in intensive care. Settings: The study was conducted at the Damanhur Medical National Institute's general ICUs. Subjects: For this study, a practical sample of 30 critical care nurses was used. Tools of the study: Two tools were employed to gather the information. Tool I: was the nurses’ alarm fatigue questionnaire, which was used to measure nurses' alarm fatigue. Tool II: was an assessment of nurse commitment to noise reduction interventions, which was used to assess nurses' commitment to noise reduction interventions. Results: The findings of the current study revealed that there was a statistically significant reduction in noise level before and after training the study group (P= 0.001) . Conclusion: Applying noise reduction interventions had a stronger effect on lowering the noise level score and alarm level of weariness. Recommendations : The current study advises minimizing patient exposure to noise and implementing preventative and reduction methods to battle noise in ICUs
