This study investigates Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever Virus (CCHFv) transmission dynamics in a slaughterhouse environment. A total of 409 blood samples from indigenous animals and 61 butchers were analyzed using an Indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (I-ELISA). Slaughtered animal seroprevalence was 19.3%, higher in sheep (21.9%) than goats (13.8%). Butcher seroprevalence was 3.3%, with reasonable knowledge of zoonotic disease transmission. Significant association between butcher and animal infections was found, but logistic regression results were inconclusive, suggesting other transmission factors. Further research is needed to understand transmission mechanisms and develop targeted prevention measures.

Self-protection is one of the most effective ways to contain the spread of pandemic Covid-19. Masks have a great effect of preventing airborne/droplet-borne Novel corona virus. This study aimed to examine changing belief and attitudes of Kurdish people of Iraq toward using masks during pandemic. The study was carried out in Sulaimani city through a detailed questionnaire asking participants different questions about using masks and their interactions with their daily work. The result of this study suggested that during the pandemic, the attitude of people completely changed from the social and psychological taboo of using masks for the majority users, 75.6%. During pandemic, majority of people (85.75%) believed that mask protect them from the infection except few (%14.3). In addition, the willingness to wear masks was not very welcomed by some. Most people wore masks, 73.6% due to compulsory rules of self-protection by health authorities and due to a highly worrisome pandemic. Some of the reasons were related to difficulties facing facial mask users such as breathing difficulties (67%), skin allergies (20.9%), wearing glasses and other allergies, 19%. In conclusion, it is clarified that now people can normally use masks without thinking about social taboos and cultural views of using masks negatively. The use of masks changed from non-user to the majority users during pandemic but there is still resistance to wearing masks. Therefore, compulsory rules to wear masks are necessary during pandemics or similar types of infection if emerged in the community.

In their article “Ancient gold pectorals from Colombia: Mushroom effigies?” Richard Evans Schultes and Alec Bright gave enough reasons to assure the reader that some goldsmithing pieces exposed mostly in the Museo del Oro located in Bogotá, Colombia that are part of the objects named “Darien Pectorals”, are representations of mushrooms. This is evidence of a mushroom cult that was practiced by the inhabitants of the places where these pieces where produced and found. Some of these pieces are located in private collections and museums all over the world. Such ornaments denominated “Darien Pectorals”, were not limited to a single region. The human body’s microbiome is essential for immunity and fighting off illness. Many bacteria in the intestinal system are beneficial, playing roles in immunological control and intestinal homeostasis. Understanding the contributions of “good bacteria” to these processes is, therefore, crucial. Advanced research into the microbiota and microbiotas is providing an increasingly deep understanding of the composition of the human microbiota, relationship between the microbiota and genetic susceptibility to disease, and the role of microorganisms in immune-related diseases. This review article discusses the effect of microbiota on patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) to understand the role that their microbiota may play in efforts to treat both types of the disease, including ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. Clinical studies demonstrate that specific probiotic strains such as Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG and Bifidobacterium animalis subspecies lactis aid can inhibit pathogenic organisms (both bacterial and viral). Overall, this review article may assist to promote public health and the prevention of future illness since dysbiosis, which is defined as a loss of diversity in the microbiota makeup of an individual, can affect acquired immunity. This review of information also emphasizes need for further research on microbiota and its association with digestive and related diseases. Published by Arab Society for Fungal Conservation

An oncogene is a gene that has the potential to cause cancer. Dental caries and periodontitis cause enormous health care costs and morbidity, but their genetic basis remains largely unknown. Clinical laboratories implement a variety of measures to classify somatic and sequence variants identifies clinically relevant variants to facilitate implementation of precision medicine. We developed a semi-automated tool called Variant Interpretation for Periodontal Cancer (VIC) to speed up the interpretation process and minimize individual risk biases. VIC loads pre-annotated files and automatically classifies sequence variants based on multiple criteria, with the ability for users to include additional evidence to streamline interpretation for clinical implications evaluated the VIC using several publicly available databases and compared it to several forecasting programs. Although the VIC cannot replace human examiners, it will speed up the process of interpreting variants. VIC can also be adapted by clinical laboratories into their analytical pipelines to ease the tedious process of variant interpretation.

Wheat ( Triticum aestivum L.), which belongs to the order Poales and Family Poaceae, is one of the most important strategic cereal crops around the world. There are many fungal diseases that may occur with this crop. Ascochyta leaf spot is one of the important foliar diseases of wheat. It was found that Ascochyta tritici (Teleomorph: Didymellaexitialis) among many pathogens, is the main causal agent of this disease. The disease becomes severe when the weather is rainy and high humidity conditions. The disease symptoms were represented by occurring oval spots, sometimes elongated, light-colored, and surrounded by a brown margin, then generated white necroses with a very dark brown-black border. Sometimes, symptoms are like those caused by Septoria nodorum . Symptoms are often seen on lower leaves early in the season and on upper leaves later on, so they become less distinct with time, appearing very similar to those caused by S. nodorum . The disease can be controlled by using healthy seeds treated with fungicides, applying crop rotation, conventional tillage, good aeration between plants, balanced fertilization, using plant extracts, and applying many foliar fungicides. Moreover, different bioagents including Trichoderma spp., Pseudomonas fluorescens

This review article provides a comprehensive overview of the current research on the impact of microbial communities on human health. It covers a wide range of topics, including the gut microbiome, skin microbiota, oral microbiota, and the role of microorganisms in infectious diseases. The article also highlights emerging research areas such as the microbiome-brain axis and the potential therapeutic applications of manipulating microbial communities. Through a critical analysis of the existing literature, this review aims to contribute to the advancement of microbial research and promote the exploration of new avenues for improving human health.","PeriodicalId":32201,"journal":{"name":"Microbial Biosystems Journal","volume":"20 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85023559","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
