Critical Discourse Analysis of Christine Mcpherson’s Self-Determination in the “Lady Bird” Film. The research aimed to analyse the aspects of self-determination portrayed in the character’s three dimensions throughout the story. Lady Bird’s storyline was about an adolescence, Christine, chasing her dream of study abroad in New York The method used in this research was Teun A. van Dijk’s critical discourse analysis. The van Dijk method has three analytical dimensions: text analysis, social cognition analysis and social context analysis. The self-determination was manifested in the character’s determination through some scenes. Gerwig as the filmmaker wanted to see the phenomena that happens to adolescence. Some other researchers found that bonds between daughter and father had huge impacts to the daughter’s self-determination. From three analytical process above, it was seen that the self-determination aspect reflected through her age as an adolescence and her closeness to her father.

Penelitian ini mengkaji bagaimana fokalisasi diterapkan ke dalam film Parasite dan bagaimana analisis fokalisasi menjadi dasar kajian estetika film Parasite melalui Skripsi Pengkajian Seni berjudul Estetika Film Parasite dengan Analisis Fokalisasi (Melalui Sudut Pandang Tokoh). Penelitian akan dianalisis menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan mengumpulkan dokumentasi dan observasi. Satuan data yang akan dianalisis berupa scene-scene yang ada di dalam film Parasite. Tahap penelitian ini dimulai dengan mengamati film Parasite, menganalisis naratif film Parasite, menganalisis fokalisasi film Parasite, menganalisis relasi fokalisasi antartokoh pada film Parasite, mengkaji estetika film Parasite, dan diakhiri dengan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini ditemukan penerapan fokalisasi pada tiga karakter utama dan pendukung yaitu keluarga Kim, keluarga Park, dan keluarga Moon-gwang. Penerapan fokalisasi terbanyak adalah fokalisasi eksternal dengan jumlah fokalisasi keluarga Kim 143 scene, fokalisasi keluarga Park 86 scene, dan fokalisasi keluarga Moon-gwang 49 scene. Fokalisasi Internal diterapkan pada fokalisasi keluarga Kim sebanyak 26 scene dan fokalisasi keluarga Moon-gwang sebanyak 1 scene. Relasi fokalisasi yang terjadi antara tokoh utama dan pendukung membentuk alur cerita yang dramatis melalui fokalisasi internal dan eksternal. Jadi, estetika film Parasite berkaitan dengan pengungkapan karakter dan pembangunan alur cerita yang padat dan dramatis.

Produk karya sebagai produksi kultural yang membawa simbol-simbol sebagai bagian dari ekspresi pemikiran agen pemroduksi dapat mendekonstruksi kultur budaya masyarakatnya. Karya yang hadir tidak dari kekosongan budaya juga akan mengisi nilai-nilai yang hidup di tengah masyarakatnya. Salah satu nilai yang dapat turut berkembang adalah nilai-nilai ketuhanan di tengah masyarakat religius. Hal ini dibidik oleh Hompimpa Sinema Nusantara dalam karyanya Yang Maha Luwes. Dengan mengkaji tema karya sebagai bagian dari produksi karya serta menafsirkan nilai-nilai yang dapat digali, nilai-nilai ketuhanan yang ada di tengah masyarakat Indonesia yang religius dapat terdekonstruksi. Oleh karena itu, digunakan pendekatan konstruktivisme sosial yang berkaitan dengan metode production activity yang direlasikan dengan metode hermenutika radikal untuk menafsirkan karya dengan pijakan dekonstruksi Derrida sehingga dapat digunakan untuk melihat nilai-nilai ketuhanan dan menghubungkannya dengan nilai-nilai yang berkembang di masyarakat. Produksi komsit tersebut selain bertujuan untuk menunjukkan eksistensi berkarya, juga memberikan hiburan parodi sederhana kepada masyarakat. Tema terdekat yang diangkat adalah nilai-nilai ketuhanan dengan membentuk konsep parodi sederhana melalui penokohan tuhan dengan sifat-sifat manusia. Pemahaman konstruksi berpikir penikmat atas Tuhan menjadi kontras ketika diperankan dengan sifat-sifat dan kebiasaan manusia. Sekalipun masyarakat Indonesia dikatakan masyarakat religius dengan keberadaan enam agama dan berbagai aliran kepercayaan, tetapi pemahaman awam seolah menempatkan Tuhan berjarak dengan manusia sebagai hamba-Nya. Komsit ini mendekonstruksi pemahaman tersebut dengan menanggalkan dikotomi jauh – dekat, langit – bumi antara Tuhan dan manusia. Tuhan berada di mana pun hamba-Nya berada.

Analysis of Surprise on Restricted Narration Application in the Plot of the Film The Handmaiden. Restricted narration in its application can cause a surprise. Surprise is defined as a feeling that arises because of unpreparedness for something. The Handmaiden was chosen as research material because it is quite dominant in applying restricted narration in its plot which then causes a surprise and does not only appear once. This research was conducted to examine the plot pattern and how the surprise appears on the application of the restricted narration technique in the plot of The Handmaiden. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method by collecting data by observation. The research phase begins by analyzing the entire plot of The Handmaiden, from the plot analysis it will be identified scenes containing surprise indicators which are then linked to the application of the restricted narration technique. From the identification, it will be analyzed according to the problem formulation
