Translation of poetry is not an easy matter, according to some – impossible. However, Russian poetry has always been very interesting for Polish translators, in the culture of which poetry still occupies the pedestal. It would seem that the Slavic component should facilitate the transfer of the poetic world from one language environment to another, close in many parameters, but this is an imaginary representation. The main problems of this article are: a) the difficulty of translating the new Russian poetry into another Slavic language; and b the choice and strategy of translating the new Russian poetry in Poland today. The subject of the study is translations from the anthology Wdrapalem sie na piedestal. Nowa poezja rosyjska (2013, Czarne), which represents the poetry of sixteen poets, written since the 1950s until today. This is an author’s anthology, whose creator is the famous translator and Russophile Jerzy Czech. The uniqueness of this book lies in the fact that it represents different generations of poets, different poets, various forms, but combines the whole of this poetic cocktail – the spirit of samizdat, whose history and work never left Polish reader indifferent. Selected examples (translational and comparative) will become a small window into the world of the issue of new Russian lyrics in today's Polish context.

The Motive of Suicide in the Novel by M.E. Saltykov-Shchedrin "The Golovlyov Family" in the Context of Christian Culture 基督教文化背景下索尔蒂科夫-谢德林小说《戈洛夫廖夫家族》中的自杀动机
Pub Date : 2018-09-01 DOI: 10.29252/iarll.12.2.227
Larionova Natalya Petrovna
In the novel "The Golovlyov Family" by M.E. Saltykov-Shchedrin one of the most important keys is the motive of suicide. Although for the Russian literature it is as a traditional, but in this text, acquires as a qualitatively new development. The main characters consciously lose life, running away from the collected problems (Volodenka by shooting) or shame (Liubinka poisons herself with phosphorus). But suicide of the main character – Porfiry Vladimirovich Golovlyov- is the most important things for the writer. There is no visible way of deprivation of life, however, the very existence of Iudushka - is the path of death. He unconsciously loses the image and similarity of God in soul and becomes out of Him. Each offense of the hero of the novel is a step from Light towards Darkness, destroying his soul during his lifetime. The betrayals of mother, brothers, and sons and, finally, God takes him to one step with Judas Iscariot.
