The reliability of public transport services (e.g., bus) is a critical factor to be considered among public transport users. This factor is important for the consequences that come with unreliability will significantly increase unnecessary anxiety and discomfort. Such consequences include additional waiting time, late arrival at destinations, and missed connections. The ability of the system to follow the planned schedule and maintain consistent travel time are some of the factors that need to be in focus. In this study, we investigated satisfaction among students who reside in campus towards bus services provided by the university. Factor analysis and structural models were developed to achieve the research objective. Three factors havesignificant relationships with students’ satisfaction. The finding also indicated that bus services are an important requirement of the on-campus students.

Final account in a construction project is prepared to show the final cost of the project that has been completed by a contractor. Preparation of the final account involves reporting the final cost of construction works, and it is one of the services that must be provided by quantity surveyors. Quantity surveyors display their competencies in preparing a final account by producing the certificate without being disputed and in a timely manner. However, issues and problems usually occur when rolling the final account, often related to quantity surveyors’ competencies. This paper aims to study challenges faced and competencies displayed by quantity surveyors in relation to the final account preparation. An extensive literature review of previous research and content analysis of court cases reported in the Malayan Law Journal were conducted to identify challenges and competencies of quantity surveyors in preparing a final account. In addition, a questionnaire survey was conducted among quantity surveyors to elicit their agreement on the issues and required competencies during the final account preparation. Three categories of issues pertaining to the final account preparation were observed: contractor-related; management-related; and contractual-related issues. This research also revealed six categories of competencies required in a final account preparation: procurement; quantification and costing; project finance control; contract administration; construction practice; and teamwork. Correlation analysis conducted shows that management related issues are likely to occur due to low competencies displayed by quantity surveyors during the preparation of the final account. This research is expected to provide the knowledge related to the preparation of the final account by quantity surveyors, leading to a more satisfactory construction project deliverance.

This study aims to examine the effect of transformational leadership style on decision-making participation and assess the moderating role of analytical and intuitive cognitive styles. Positivistic research philosophy and quantitative methodology utilising self-report questionnaires was used in collecting data from 196 teachers of six selected educational organisations in Selangor, Malaysia. A descriptive survey design was selected, where information was collected through self-report questionnaires which were administered to the subjects by the researcher. Hierarchical regression was employed to measure the relationship between transformational leadership style and decision making participation, and subsequently evaluate the role of analytical and intuitive cognitive styles as moderators within this relationship. Findings from the study indicate that there was no significant relationship between transformational leadership style and decision making participation. Findings from the study indicate that analytical cognitive style moderates the relationship between transformational leadership style and decision making participation. Transformational leadership style with intuitive cognitive style also demonstrated a positive effect on decision-making participation, according to the value of the coefficient. Practically, this research is valuable to cognitive styles could influence their leadership role towards decision-making participation. Theoretically this study contributes to more understanding on decision-making participation abilities, by stressing the use of selected cognitive and leadership styles.

The Lisu nationality in Nujiang Prefecture is a minority nationality located in the southwest border of China. Its traditional costume is the cultural heritage with local characteristics and the crystallization of Lisu People's wisdom. Most of the previous studies on Lisu costumes were from a macro perspective. However, these studies did not specifically focus on a specific area of Lisu costumes and division in-depth, nor did they conduct research on the differentiation of Lisu costumes in a specific area. This paper discusses the women’s costumes of Lisu nationality in Nujiang Prefecture, consisting of the hat, upper garment and lower garment. The objectives of this paper are to explore different Lisu women’s costume types in Nujiang region from a microscopic perspective. This study is based on the theory of art anthropology, in which it uses the method of field investigation to sample and collect a number of clothing samples, and inductive method to sort out and classify the clothing types of Lisu nationality in Nujiang, Yunnan Province. The results showed that there are three different types of Lisu costumes in Nujiang of the Lisu Autonomous Prefecture: Lushui type, Lanping type and Fugong type. They were distributed in different regions and presented with different characteristics, which are closely related to the life of the local Lisu minority. It is of great significance for the diversified and sustainable development of Lisu ethnic costumes.

The usage of M-banking adoption has received substantial attention in recent years. However, there is limited study investigating the m-banking adoption in Malaysia, specifically among the young adults in Sarawak. This study attempts to determine the relationship between attitude towards banking, compatibility, customer-trust, and perceived benefits towards intention to adopt m-banking. Besides, the present study also aims to investigate the moderating impact of trustworthiness on selected exogenous variables and intention to adopt m-banking. A self-administrated questionnaire containing 37 closed-ended questions was developed. Data were collected from 500 respondents and analysed using the SmartPLS. The results depicted that compatibility and trustworthiness were found to have a significant relationship with m-banking adoption. Interestingly, trustworthiness was found moderating the relationship among positive attitudes towards banking on m-banking adoption. Both theoretical and managerial implications were presented.

In order to propose a more effective alternative method employed by undergraduate students to compute the partial fraction decomposition (PFD) of rational functions which could eventually help to solve the prominent common errors made by undergraduate students during the computation using standard method, data from quizzes and questionnaires administered to 47 students were quantitatively analysed. The findings of this study reveal that there is progress shown in students’ performance when they apply the proposed alternative method, namely, the improved cover-up method. Students also appreciate the efficiency and accuracy of the alternative method offered. Hence, it is believed that this approach, which is considerably new to undergraduate students particularly in a public university in Sarawak, can serve as an alternative to the more conventional or standard method of undetermined coefficients used in teaching elementary integral calculus for better students’ performance. Additionally , this preliminary evidence provides directions for future research related to partial fraction decomposition methods.

The typical dress of modern Han nationality is a part of Chinese traditional culture. In ancient times, this kind of dress was popular among the public at that time. However, with the development of time and people's ideas, the typical dress of modern Han nationality has gradually disappeared in everyone's eyes. People put on modern clothing for social communication, which illustrates the traditional culture of modern Han nationality's typical dress. If this situation is not reversed, it will inevitably lead to the defects of Chinese culture. Therefore, in a modern society, we must adopt relevant methods to realize the effective dissemination of modern Han nationality's typical costume. This paper discusses the significance and characteristics of modern Han nationality's typical clothing communication by analysing the development status of the clothing communication, and then putting forward the main points of clothing communication, communication methods, and precautions.

The traditionally Sarawak Malay woman headscarf is known as Tudong Selayah Keringkam. It is a hand-made identical embroidery headscarf, produced with articulate skills, creativity, and imagination and worn as a social identity among the Malay women in Sarawak. This paper argues that the Selayah and the Keringkam are two different pieces of headscarves artwork. This paper also foresees the reasons behind the depletion of interest and skills of producing this artifact among the younger generation, to a large extent, making the cultural sustainability of the traditional headscarves in Sarawak to become less significant. Hence, the objectives of this paper are to explore the distinction between Selayah and Keringkam. In this transcendental phenomenological paper, the ‘framing approach’ is used in the in -depth interviews conducted with Selayah Keringkam weavers and Malay elders. This paper apparently has found the little provision to the distinction between Selayah and Keringkam. However, there are five elements posited which have contributed to the depletion of interest among the young generation in the production of Selayah Keringkam. Those elements are labelled as Price, Realism, Technology, Proficient and Insight. Nonetheless, this paper is significant in highlighting the Selayah Keringkam as one of the key material cultures in sustaining Sarawak Malay heritage. Preserving and sustaining the social identity is crucial which potentially becomes central to the tourism products and commercially plated onto the international arena of fashion, art, and design.

This quantitative research studied the anxiety level of university students towards speaking English as a second language (ESL)to examine whether there is any correlation between the university students’ ESL speaking anxiety and the demographic factors such as the SPM English results, mother tongue, and parents’ academic qualifications. A sample of 592 students was randomly selected from two public universities in Sarawak, Malaysia. Items in the PSCAS questionnaire by Yaikhong and Usaha (2012) were adapted to measure the students’ anxiety level in speaking English. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics to identify the students’ anxiety level in speaking English. Inferential statistics (Pearson correlation) was used to examine the relationship between the university students’ ESL speaking anxiety and demographic factors. The findings indicate that these students experienced a moderate level of speaking anxiety. There was a positive correlation between the university students’ ESL speaking anxiety and SPM English Language results. Nevertheless, there was a low negative correlation between the students’ ESL speaking anxiety and mother tongue as well as parents’ academic qualifications. Findings from this study provide a basis for educators to plan effective teaching strategies to reduce English speaking anxiety among university students.

As e-commerce continues to become an integral part of our lives, more and more purchase decisions are being made online. A significant contribution leading to such purchases stem from a few key factors, one of which, is customer reviews. Reviews are based on consumer experience and are increasingly necessary on e-commerce sites and platforms. Another key factor is the role brands play in influencing purchase decisions. A brand is an intangible asset of a company where brand value reflects the degree of differentiation a brand has over competitors. Most consumers judge the quality of an online product based on reviews and brands. This paper explores the question of how online product reviews and brands affect product sales on travel websites, using Ctrip.com as a case study. The study uses the user recommendation rate, the total score, the total number of reviews and brand strength to draw a relationship that suggests online reviews and brand strength impact product sales. The results demonstrate that there is a positive impact on product sales for high review scores on weak-branded inns; and the sales volume of strongbranded inns are more prominently affected by the number of comments and user recommendation rate.

The results demonstrate that there is a positive impact on product sales for high review scores on weak-branded inns; and the sales volume of strongbranded inns are more prominently affected by the number of comments and user recommendation rate.","PeriodicalId":334569,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Service Management and Sustainability","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122151094","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
