This study aims to analyze the text, the practice of citizenship and the socio-cultural context in the news text of the election of the governor and vice governor of East Nusa Tenggara in 2018 in the Victory News newspaper. The theory used in this study is Norman Fairclough's critical discourse analysis to analyze texts, the practice of producing and consuming texts, and socio-cultural practices on texts. The method used is descriptive qualitative method. From the data analysis, conclusions can be drawn. First, the VN news text features the 'promise' vocabulary which tends to be used to weaken the pair of candidates for governor-vice-governor besides Viktory-Joss. Transitive sentences tend to be used in the headline of VJ packages while other packages tend to be intransitive sentences. The use of negative sentences and metaphors tends to be used to benefit VJ packages. The news texts used by Victory News tend to be descriptive and argumentative in nature, characterized by the use of meaningful causal conjunctions. Second, Victory News discourse tends to raise news about the campaign, vision and mission, the strength of character and background that supports the Viktory-Joss package. Victory News tends to be political, which means that the interests of the owners of these newspapers are more dominant than balanced reporting. Third, Victory News ideology is positive imaging by highlighting the VJ package so that the public positively evaluates the vision, missions, and actions taken by the package

Fairy tales are often identified with messages to be conveyed to readers, and can also contain certain ideologies. Many studies have analyzed the relations between fairy tales and gender ideology. Therefore, the writer chose the Soviet film entitled Двенадцать месяцев 'Twelve Months' (1972) as the source of research data, because there are additional elements written by Marshak. The purpose of this research is to describe the actant scheme and the characterization in the film, and to analyze whether gender ideology is present in the film, and how the ideology is presented. The approach used is the Greimas' actantial model approach. The method used in this research is qualitative and descriptive analytical methods. The result of this research shows that there are still gender stereotypes in the film, which can be seen from the actantial schemes and the characterization of the characters.

An important issue of whether two varieties of language are basically the same or whether they are different dialects or even different languages can be answered using the methods of dialectology. This study looks at the Javanese language used in Kendal regency in Java. People there from the Weleri district attest that their variety of Javanese is a dialect, distinct from the language used by other people in Kendal. There is also literature where the opinion supports this view. But there are also contradictory opinions. This research seeks to provide definitive evidence about the status of the Javanese used by people in the Weleri area, to end any further confusion about its status, one way or the other. The research involved data sampled from many points in the area and the analysis used dialectometry to establish the degree of difference and also interviews to find out what the views of local speakers were. The results were definitive but not without some other interesting facts concerning phatic particles in spoken Javanese coming to light

The existence of tourism in the community provides an opportunity for the use of various language domains. The use of language by tour guides in National Park of Bantimurung Bulusaraung, Maros Regency, which is a Bugis-Makassar ethnic community, now used not only the regional language domain, Indonesian language, but also the Makassar Malay language (MML) domain and the foreign language (FL) domain. The use of this language is not only influenced by linguistic aspects but also influenced by non-linguistic aspects such as participant factors, speech situations, speech topics, the speaker's socio-cultural background and speech partners. This article described the forms and variations of language that arise from language contact by guides and tourists. The research method used is a qualitative method with anthropological linguistic approach. Data collection was done by recording and semi-structured interviews with several informants. From the research results found three language choices including single language variation (SLV), language code switching (CS), and code mixing (CM). There were three uses of SL variations, namely Bugis Language (BL), Makassar Malay (MML) and Indonesian Language (I.L) formal varieties. The used of CS from both Bugis to Makassar language (ML) was also found in local tourists (Bugis speakers or Makassar speakers), CS from regional languages (RL) to MML also occurs in interactions between speakers and tourists or speech partners who are not Bugis-Makassar speakers but were the speaker of other regional languages in South Sulawesi. The used of CS from MML to Indonesian language had a formal variety of interactions with domestic tourists. Variations in English Makassar Malay Language as both CS and CM were found in interactions with foreign tourists.

Along with verbs, nouns are very crucial—among other lexical and functional categories—in arranging linguistic constructions. Thus, there are many ways to change words from other word classes into nouns or known as nominalization. This paper aims at describing the similarities and differences of nominalization in English, Indonesian, and Javanese. By contrasting three different languages, this study can give another insight on nominalization, especially for language teachers and students of language. This study employed a qualitative method in accordance with the type of data collected (i.e. clauses containing nominalized units). The data were collected using metode simak for English language data and researchers’ intuition as the native speakers of Indonesian and Javanese. English language data were collected from English grammar books. The approach used is contrastive analysis to compare three languages under study. The method of analysis is metode padan translational and metode agih. The results of the analysis show that generally, these three languages use affixation, particles, and conversion as the nominalizers. English, however, differs from Indonesian and Javanese since it doesn’t have reduplication as nominalizer and the use of particle is limited to the initial position. Unlike English, Indonesian and Javanese tend to be alike and it is plausible since both are from the same language family. In the comparison, it is figured out that there are three main similarities and six differences of the realizations of nominalization in English, Indonesian, and Javanese. The results are plausible due to the unrelatedness of English with Indonesian and Javanese.
