Active Power Decoupling Control of Bridge-less SEPIC using Lyapunov-function based Control Strategy 基于lyapunov函数的无桥SEPIC有功功率解耦控制

This paper proposes a new control strategy for active power decoupling(APD) function of a bridge-less single-ended primary inductance converter(SEPIC). Without additional components, a change of control method would enable the implementation of APD functions, replacing an electrolytic capacitor(E-Cap) with a small film capacitor. The contribution of this paper is to apply a Lyapunov-function based control method to the control system to ensure global stability and reduce the number of sensors and parameters required for control. The effectiveness of the proposed control method is shown by simulations using MATLAB/SIMULINK.

Techno-Economic Feasibility Study of Battery- Powered Ferries 电池动力渡轮技术经济可行性研究

The move towards incorporating more-electric solutions in the transportation sector has gained increased momentum during the last decade. Cost of fossil fuels and environmental impacts of emissions are the main driving factors behind this growing trend. Nevertheless, advancements in battery technologies are the key enablers for the wide- spread application of electric alternatives in a more realistic manner. This paper looks into this trend from electric ferries perspective and presents a technical and economic feasibility assessment. The technical study includes sizing of the battery storage system based on Depth-of- Discharge (DOD) and maximum load scenario. The proposed sizing is validated against the measured load profile. The economic study includes initial investment, operational cost and maintenance cost of a battery powered electric ferry. The economic analysis considered the payback period (PBP) and battery lifecycles as assessment factors. The technical assessment results revealed that the proposed battery system can efficiently power the ferry within the stipulated DOD range. The maximum DOD achieved is 70 %, which provided a reasonable lifetime of 10.7 years. The economic analysis revealed that the battery's DOD has significant effects on the investment cost of the system and the PBP. The PBP is found to be 6.7 years which is 37 % less than the lifetime of the battery. Overall, the battery-powered ferry is found to be feasible with 51.3% operational costs saving compared to the diesel-electric alternative.

An Improved Active Li-ion Battery Equalization Scheme for Enhancing the Performance of a nearly Zero Energy Building and Electric Vehicle Microgrid 一种改进的主动锂离子电池均衡方案,提高近零能耗建筑和电动汽车微电网的性能

This paper proposes an improved Battery Management System (BMS) that provides active equalization in the battery cells to reduce the total charging time and enhance the system performance. The suggested control scheme can be applied to energy storage systems with Li-ion batteries that are utilized in nearly zero energy building (nZEB) and electric vehicle (EV) microgrids. The proposed BMS is more suitable for the above applications, since repeatable and high dynamic performance from the battery system are required. The improvement in the battery operation and therefore, the enhancement of the whole microgrid performance can be accomplished by properly regulating the charging current of each battery cell through the gate voltage of a parallel connected MOSFET. An Aging Estimator Fuzzy Logic Controller (AEFLC) is also proposed that can online estimates the healthier cell of each battery stack by properly evaluating the internal resistance growth and the capacity fade factor of each cell. Thus, based on the healthier cell, the proposed algorithm controls the MOSFET current in order to achieve the cell equalization. Specifically, an Equalizer Fuzzy Logic Controller (EFLC) evaluates the cells’ voltages and applies the appropriate gate-source voltage ($V _{GS}$) at each MOSFET. The functionality and the effectiveness of the proposed BMS are verified both for nZEB and EV microgrids via simulation models using the MATLAB/Simulink program. Selective simulation results are presented to validate the operating improvements that the new BMS technique can provide.

Optimal Configuration of Multiphase AC Motors Under Squarewave and PWM Operations 方波和PWM操作下多相交流电机的优化配置

In many applications such as electric vehicles, dual mode operation is needed. In the low speed region, PWM mode is chosen and squarewave mode is used for high speed region. In this paper, multiphase motor that is suitable for dual mode operation is investigated. Inverter input current ripple and rotor current ripple will be considered as the decision factors. This paper shows that nine-phase is suitable for such dual mode operation.

Primary Iron Loss Analysis on Tubular Permanent Magnet Linear Motor 管状永磁直线电机一次铁损耗分析

This paper proposed a precise tubular permanent magnet linear motor(PMLM) iron loss calculation model, in which the effect of the motor primary structure and harmonic were taken into account. The simulation model of the linear motor was built by finite element method. Base on the model, the no-load field map and each point of the magnetic density waveform changes were provided. Combination of finite element method and iron loss calculation model which proposed in this paper, the more accurate core loss of tubular PMLM was obtained and the influence of the speed on the stator core loss was discussed. The iron loss calculation model was verified by the measured data.

Topology Derivation of Non-isolated Multi-Port DC-DC Converters Based on H-Bridge 基于h桥的非隔离多端口DC-DC变换器拓扑推导

From the point of building bidirectional power flow path for the energy storage element (ESE), this paper proposes a general approach to develop multi-port converters (MPCs) by connecting the ESE-centric H-bridge cell with source or load of the classic converter. Six configurations are presented by investigating the connecting principles between H-bridge and the source or load of the classic converter. Derived by combining the six configurations with the classic converter, the obtained MPCs feature single-inductor and single-stage power conversion among the ports. The operating characteristics and port voltage restriction of MPCs are analyzed and compared. Experimental results of the proposed MPCs, named L-3-buck/boost, are presented to verify the analysis results.

Microcontroller Implementation of an MPPT Algorithm using Decremented Windows Size Scanning Method for Photovoltaic Systems 基于递减窗口扫描法的光伏系统MPPT算法的微控制器实现

This paper presents a hardware implementation of MPPT algorithm. SEPIC converter is proposed and designed as DC/DC converter. The control unit for MPPT using P&O based algorithm is namely decremented window/frame-size scanning. The global MPP is tracked by the MPPT algorithm by reducing the frame size of the domain scanning for every iteration. Duty cycle of a pulse-width modulation (PWM) signal is used as the scanning unit. The circuit performance monitoring is made by using an interface software that can generate real-time graphics. The system is real tested under three partial shading scenarios. The result shows that the MPPT circuit can reach maximum efficiency of 85 %. The number of iterative frame reduction step to reach global MPP is about 3 steps with 33 ms to finish all steps.

Multilevel Inverters (MIs) offer several advantages, but the lower reliability and requiring many components are associated. To address the issues, this paper proposes an MI topology. This topology features i) a modular structure, ii) using only a single dc source, iii) employing minimized switches, iv) compact size, v) self-balancing ability, vi) high step-up capability, and vi) drawing a smooth and continuous input current. Moreover, it can be easily scaled up for high-voltage applications. The proposed inverter can only offer a unidirectional power flow. Due to the above characteristics, the proposed inverter can be a promising solution for renewable energy applications. Simulation results are provided, which demonstrate the feasibility and viability of the proposed topology.

Calculation and Experimental Validation on Leakage Inductance of a Medium Frequency Transformer 中频变压器漏感的计算与实验验证

Nowadays, medium frequency transformers are widely employed with power electronic converters, offering obvious benefits for modern power system. Rising the switching frequency leads to the need for accurate estimation of the characteristics of a designed transformer. This paper refines the existing analytical frequency-dependent method for accurately calculating leakage inductance in the medium frequency range based on the magnetic field intensity distribution and the stored magnetic energy method. Unlike the previous expressions, the proposed method employs mean turn length of individual layer which makes the calculation more precise. The advantages and impacts of interleaved winding structure to minimize the leakage inductance are also shown by comparing different winding patterns. Transformer prototypes with specifications as 10kW, 500/5000V, 5kHz have been manufactured and tested. The presented equations for inductance calculation are benchmarked to the experimental results on the developed transformer prototypes as well as the finite element analysis (FEM) simulation results.

A Series Voltage Sag Compensator with Reduced Magnitude of Transformer Inrush Current 降低变压器涌流幅度的串联电压暂降补偿器

Voltage sags are found to be the key power quality problems faced by the industrial consumers. These sags frequently cause the disturbance in industrial manufacturing processes and result in substantial financial losses. In order to deal with such problems, a voltage sag compensator is often installed since it is among the most economical solutions to deal with sags to protect the sensitive loads. However, a problem of inrush transient current occurs as the series transformer gets energized to compensate the load voltage. This not only affects the critical load but also triggers the over-current mechanism of the series voltage sag compensator (SVSC). This paper proposes a SVSC with the reduced magnitude of transformer inrush current using a current controlled inverter. The proposed SVSC is validated using simulation results.
