Currently, the existence of Kampung Deret Petogogan is due to the Jakarta government's work program, especially in the field of alleviating slum areas. In the past, this region was a slum area and it was the government's vision to transform it. Since 2013, it has been in a neat condition, not only for its occupancy, and also for its infrastructure in the open areas, which consist of parks and neighborhood roads. This research aims to determine the quality of public open spaces, such as parks and neighborhood roads for the residents. This study adopted descriptive qualitative methods, expected to benefit the government for the development of open spaces, and the community maintenance and utilization. The results showed that the democratic and beneficial aspects of the society, and the elements of quality public open spaces were achieved. Also, the productivity of open space utilization was very large. The element of responsiveness to physical and non-physical existence, and the need for infrastructure in an open space needs to be improved by maximizing its quality.

The implementation of Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) concept on pedestrian paths in Manggarai, Jakarta, requires well-ordered pedestrian path, as an area linkage between transit facility and various functions around it. Presently, the pedestrian paths condition around Manggarai Station is still not optimal. Meanwhile, the Transit-Oriented Development concept demands compliance with the standards in its implementation. This study aims to assess the pedestrian paths feasibility in the area around Manggarai Station, based on the criteria that should be met in supporting the concept implementation process. This research applied an evaluative method through POE (Post-Occupancy Evaluation), in measuring the standards of the existing pedestrian paths and providing recommendations for the authorities. The findings are novelties in understanding the disadvantages of safety factors, physical infrastructure, shelter for the hot and rainy season, easy access to the elderly and people with disabilities, especially in linking supporting facilities. Interestingly, the pedestrian path has an attraction that triggers people to walk a long distance with ease. Also, these findings are important in designing Transit-Oriented Development at Manggarai, such as wide sidewalks, providing zebra crossings, and trees. In addition, these result are in the form of suggestions for improving pedestrian path conditions as well as providing action plans for stakeholders.

Jorongan Village is as an area designated as the Furniture Industry Center of Probolingggo Regency, thereby leading to changes in some houses functionality from residential to business. This certainly changes the internal and external layout of the houses used for furniture business. The purpose of this research is to identify the spatial layout pattern of business houses in the furniture industrial center area of Probolinggo Regency. This research was carried out with the behavior mapping approach used to describe the existing space in each furniture business house. Therefore, based on the analysis results, there are four patterns of business function space layout, the first, second, and third are located at the front, side and partially inside the building, while the other part is located in the side. Furthermore, the pattern with part of the business function space is located inside the building, and partly outside the front and side of the house. The result showed that three houses had irregular patterns with different layouts from other businesses.

The Padalarang sub urban is currently known as high mobility area. There are railway station and terminal for public transportation. Recently, Padalarang has decreasing its physical and visual quality due to the growth of informal housing, informal sector, traditional market and terminal. The Transit Oriented Development is an approach which integrates vehicle network system and pedestrian lane modes. These inappropriate growths generate a lot of environment problems. One of them is the lack of pedestrian lane and its linkage with housing, such as markets, stations, terminals and other public facilities, meanwhile pedestrian lanes have an important role for supporting their main activity. Especially pedestrian lanes in Indonesia which recently are still in ongoing debate as an important issue in town planning. This research will deliberate about the design criteria of pedestrian lane system become more walkable and responsive, which oriented to sidewalk users. This research was conducted through case study and data collecting by surveying, observing and mapping the physical condition of the area nearby railway station, terminal and traditional market. This study is expected to be able to help government and stakeholders as a reference in assembling the area around Padalarang railway station.

Many people are interested in going to urban areas, because of the economic opportunities offered by city facilities. When cities grow in size and population, the harmony between the spatial, social, environmental aspects of the city and its inhabitants become very important. The formation of urban kampong settlements which are mostly inhabited by low-income communities is an integral part of the city's growth process. In general, people living in settlements do not have social power, less economic resources and physical ability to struggle to live in the city. They must be creative in handling minimal infrastructure facilities in settlements. The strategy of developing Urban Kampong into tourism destination is the process of developing urban kampong that focus on community empowerment through the construction of physical infrastructure. Therefore, this approach involves learning the local knowledge not only from the community leaders but also from all community members. This research will share the experience on how to empower communities living in urban kampong settlement in order to develop their housing areas into special interest tourism destinations.

Local wisdom can be learned through discovery of physical elements of traditional villages, such as spatial layout, architectural objects, and daily activities. The organization prevailing in environment plays an important role in managing a contextual mitigation culture. The co-existence of authority (mandate) masters have the authority of value/cultural capital and to create symbolic elements, such as will or belief. Sindang Barang Cultural Village was taken as a case study to reveal the history and role of the mandate in the culture of disaster mitigation. This study aims to observe the role of the mandate and its impact in disaster mitigation. The role of the mandate is also examined to see the existence of efforts to preserve the values of local wisdom towards the times. This research uses descriptive-qualitative method by tracing the phenomena and artifacts in the field. The analysis carried out in two phases. The first phase is to create a mitigation concept table based on the existing program or artifacts. The second phase is to discuss the mitigation culture based on its classified capacities. The mitigation seen from the Sindang Barang Cultural Village program and artifacts is the risk of fire, earthquake, and landslide. The process of determining a mandate is commensurate with adaptive capacity because this stage tends to lead to restriction or orders about in program that is carried out systematically in particular context.
