This work deals with the means of videoconferencing systems ran by web browsers. It analyzes certain contemporary videoconferencing solutions and technologies used for multimedia streaming. It also describes the WebRTC technology terminology and presents the reader with its benefits. It sketches certain options for security enhancements for visual stream transmission via computer network. Based on the proposed concept it was possible to create an experimental web oriented videoconferencing system with a dual layer security policy in which students and teachers are able to communicate via chat and share files with each other besides audio and video communication.

The article addresses a design methodology of globally asynchronous locally synchronous (GALS) digital systems from the designer's point of view. It discusses the nature of this special type of electronic circuits, its advantages as well as drawbacks as comparison to standard synchronous and asynchronous systems. Furthermore, it describes the top-down design flow for various implementation approaches. The first one is the implementation onto silicon chip as ASIC, the second one is the implementation into the FPGA. The paper also discusses the comparison of three different implementations of the same circuitry.

The paper presents one approach to the remote control of the educational thermo-optical plant. The local control of the plant is realized using Matlab/Simulink. The online solution is realized using a third-party library Mlabwrap that serves as a bridge between Matlab and Python language. Since Python enables server-side programming, the solution can be installed on the server and used via Internet.

Lecture presentation represents the common approach in student's education process. However, majority of presenters do not adjust their presentation during the lecture in order to react correspondingly to the students' initiative. In this paper the novel presentation system - Tablet Presenter is introduced that is dedicated to multi-touch screen Tablet computers. It provides a lot of useful functions, supporting not only the more vivid presentations, but also multiuser presentations, better interactivity with students and collaboration possibilities. We propose technical requirements for interactive multiuser presentation tool and communication protocol suitable for specified requirements.

General technical education starting at the pre-school level and finishing at the universities of the third age is fundamental for obtaining technical literacy and sustainable development of key competencies. It also increases chances of graduates on the labour market and helps to contribute to a higher quality of their life. Underestimation of provision of general technical education is one of the reasons of lower knowledge level of population of Slovak pupils, especially in the area of creative and analytical problem-solving tasks. In this paper are described the results of a videoconference system (VCS) used for the pedagogical practice, methodological-vocational consultations with tutors and cooperating schools involved in the videoconference system project. The project team analyzed the contemporary situation in the lifelong education of teachers, orientated on the area of practice videoconference systems and the application of e-learning methods. The main part of the project consisted of the demonstrations of school lessons and their analyses from the point of view of their suitability for the implementation in the pedagogical practice. Results and outcomes of the research are formulated in this paper.

Chairmen Welcome
Many interesting conferences are organized in similar fields but during years the series of the ICETA conferences have gradually built a good international reputation and has got a dignified place in the ICT world. Native hospitality of the organizers helps to create an excellent inventive atmosphere that reigns in the conference deliberation. We believe that the conference will continue in long year traditions of meetings of scientists, academicians, developers, teachers, engineers and all those who are interested and working in fields of the conference topics. Come and join us for a high quality technical program and exciting cultural experience! We look forward to meeting you at ICETA 2014 Conference and we believe you will enjoy your stay there.
