Objective: Combination therapy is currently the preferred acne treatment. We conducted this study to compare the efficacy and tolerability of 0.1% adapalene with 1% clindamycin versus 0.1% adapalene with 2.5% benzoyl peroxide (BPO) in the treatment of acne vulgaris. Methods: This study was conducted over a period of 1 year from September 2014 to September 2015. One-hundred patients aged 14 to 30 years with mild to moderate acne vulgaris were included. The patients were randomly allocated to 2 equal groups (n = 50 in each group), and received a topical combination of 0.1% adapalene with 1% clindamycin andtopical combination of 0.1% adapalene with 2.5% BPO, respectively). The efficacy and tolerability of two treatments were compared. The unpaired student t test was used to compare the difference in continuous variables between 2 groups, while the chi-square test or Fisher exact test was used for categorical variables. Results: One-hundred patients with mild to moderate acne vulgaris were randomly allocated to 2 equal groups (n = 50 in each group). After 12 weeks of treatment, there were no significant differences between the adapalene-clindamycin and adapalene-BPO in the mean reductions in the numbers of non-inflammatory lesions (11.16 ± 8.01 and 11.12 ± 8.62, respectively), inflammatory papules (49.78 ± 37.57 and 50.48 ± 36.57, respectively), and total lesions (67.50 ± 44.59 and 70.12 ± 46.83, respectively). The incidence of a burning sensation was significantly greater in the adapalene-BPO group than the adapalene-clindamycin group (32% vs. 6%; P = 0.002). Conclusion: Topical adapalene plus clindamycin and adapalene plus BPO had similar efficacies in the treatment of acne. Adapalene with clindamycin was better tolerated than adapalene with BPO.

Objective: COVID-19 has been significantly associated with both psychosocial stress and physiologic stress, both of which are known to trigger telogen effluvium. This study was performed to estimate the prevalence of hair loss among patients with COVID-19 and to determine the correlation of the severity of COVID-19 with the severity of hair loss. Methods: Data were collected through a self-administered electronic questionnaire that was distributed among social media platforms. Participants were invited to complete the survey using a convenience sampling technique. A multiple response dichotomies analysis and chi-square test of independence were used to analyze data. Results: Among 420 participants who reported a positive PCR result of SARS-CoV-2, 77.6% reported hair loss after COVID-19 development. Notably, the onset of hair loss was within 3 weeks of COVID-19 development in 29% of participants. Most of the participants reported that the duration of hair loss was up to 6 months, and hair regrowth was noticed within 1 year after COVID-19 development. Patients who were admitted to the hospital, who experienced respiratory difficulties, who had lost weight due to COVID-19, and who experienced symptoms for longer than 10 days were significantly more prone to experience severe hair loss following COVID-19 (P < 0.001). Conclusion: This study demonstrated a high frequency of self-reported hair loss after the development of COVID-19. Interestingly, even patients with mild COVID-19 symptoms were significantly more prone to experience moderate hair loss. Unique to COVID-19 infection, the onset of hair loss following the development of COVID-19 was within 3 weeks in one-third of the participants.

The cutaneous flora is relatively simple compared to the diverse community of microorganisms that inhabits the mouth, digestive tract and vagina. The ecology of particular areas of the skin is determined by the availability of moisture, the level of sebaceous lipids. Microbial agents, especially Staphilococcus aureus, colonize over 90% of atopic dermatitis skin lesions. Presented our approach to topical treatment of skin diseases with superficial pyoderma, chronical diseases of skin with microbial disbalance by the ointment Ilon Classic.
