The article is the result of a search for effective tools that can support the process of enriching the individual lexicon of students. The possibilities of involving students in this process through the use of selected ICT tools were indicated. It was pointed out that the use of various platforms and mobile applications in the development and control of lexical skills is conducive to individualization of teaching, and its inclusion in the learning process requires an analysis for usefulness in achieving expected learning outcomes. Online learning platforms such as WordWall and LearningApps, that allow for the design of interactive exercises facilitating the learning of foreign languages, and in particular the improving of foreign vocabulary, were analyzed. Their use in the course of independent learning enables the enrichment of vocabulary in accordance with the interests and individual communication needs of students. The inclusion of these tools in the didactic process may positively affect the motivation to learn, and their systematic use, both in the classroom and during individual work, it also allows the acceleration of the memorization of the vocabulary of a foreign language.

The author of this paper defines the aspectual paradigms of Russian verbs as such grammatical structures whose formal aspect is correlated with the conceptual one, therefore being its cognitive counterpart. With a view to analysing these paradigms he uses the theory of markedness as an analytic tool. According to it, the grammatical changes that occur in natural languages originate from general principles of naturalness which are typologically relevant. They result in morphological shifts that are linked to the verbalisation of Russian aspectual paradigms and allow to predict the direction of their development. In particular, the principle of natural grammatical development should be considered crucial. It means that the grammatical changes in natural languages cause elimination of marked elements, so that these more complex linguistic structues are replaced with less complex ones. Such a principle manifests an unconscious desire of language users to minimise their linguistic efforts, as it would place an additional burden on interpersonal communication.

The paper aims at investigating the demonstration of Russian intuition in the contemporary Russian speculative fiction. The research thesis is that the Russians, both presented in literature and within the frames of the national character studies, manifest themselves as the intuitive introvert type according to Carl Gustav Jung’s classification. For validating the thesis, as far as the proposed literary works are concerned, one should use the instruments offered by cultural literary criticism along with the support of non-literary disciplines, such as intercultural communication and ethnopsychology. Moreover, one should consider also notes on Russian national character taken by Jung himself as well as studies on the sociocultural aspect of the analysed works. A wide range of methods and perspectives allows deep research of the “feeling – intuitive” Jungian scale as manifested within literary characters representing the Russian element (also called Russianness) in the selected works, which belong to the most significant and/or popular pieces of contemporary speculative fiction in Russia.

The article describes in detail some derivational elements involved in the process of agglutination occurring in word-formation system of modern Russian, analyzing semantic and functional characteristics of these word-building elements. The comprehensive analysis of the collected hybrid derivatives shows that globalization and the Anglo-American ‘linguistic hegemony’ increased the productivity of international morphemes, penetrating into the Russian word-formation system through the mass media. Modern Russian language has been undergoing noticeable changes in word-formation models and in the inventory of actively productive derivational affixes. The following processes are noticeable: 1) resemantization and activation of international affixes; 2) development of new hybrid derivative models; 3) creation with the help of morphemes abstracted from composites new formally and semantically condensed nouns, which allows to notice an agglutination’s tendency.

The article describes the new words that appeared in the Russian language public discourse. They are connected with three political events that caused a wide public outcry: the All-Russian vote on the approval of amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation, protests in support of Sergei Furgal, the detained governor of the Khabarovsk Krai, and the poisoning of opposition leader Alexei Navalny. The research material was collected from online media from January 2020 to September 2021. It includes neologisms, neosemantisms, and new phrases, many of which are occasional. In the collected material there are innovations formed according to standard derivational models and words and phrases representing the product of wordplay, including lexical blends. The considered innovations, being a manifestation of democratization and carnivalization of public communication, perform not only a nominative function. Due to their novelty, unusualness, and expressiveness, they have an evaluative potential. These innovations often become a linguistic means of speech aggression. In addition, they reflect the current social and political events of concern to the society and the attitude of the linguistic community to what is happening. The considered innovations, being a manifestation of democratization and carnivalization of public communication, perform not only a nominative function. A new type of dictionary – a psychological linguistic dictionary was compiled as a result of analyzing 15918 Russian adjectives from the perspective of their relationship with emotions originating in reference to various senses. The dictionary contains information on “the emotional load” of these adjectives, that is how pleasant or how unpleasant emotions a given adjective evokes. The analyzed lexemes were assessed by respondents on the scale of emotions: slightly (un)pleasant – moderately (un)pleasant – very (un)pleasant, which was marked with an appropriate number of pluses or minuses. Although it is believed that representatives of different cultures experience universal emotions, their quality and intensity hidden behind particular linguistic units can diverge for different cultural linguistic communities. Emotions are conditioned socially, culturally and historically; they play an important role in international communication. Thus, when they are incompetently and mistakenly interpreted, this can disturb dialogue between various cultures and even lead to conflicts. In the article, considering equivalents mięsny/мясной and other counterparts, it can be said that not all the examples have a parallel emotional value. Despite the genealogical relationship between the languages and cultures in question, emotive contrasts are not rare. This leads to considering a significant issue of emotive adequacy of dictionary equivalents, which has to be addressed by translators and language teachers.

The purpose of this article is to reflect on the phenomenon of travel to the places in Venice associated with the Russian poet Iosif Brodsky and the way in which the Fondamenta degli Icurabili, a place of imagination that is the title of the Russian and Italian-language translation of the essay Watermark, functions in space and consciousness of travellers. The article focuses primarily on individual literary journeys that were reflected in or even inspired the traveller’s writing activities. The experiences of being in the Fondamenta degli Incurabili and trying to understand the meaning of the toponym were described by many authors of contemporary non-fiction texts about Venice: Yuri Lepski, Yelena Yakovich, Gleb Smirnov, Arkady Ippolitov, Ekaterina Margolis. Two texts are particularly noteworthy, i.e. the reportage by Yuri Lepski Brodskiy tol’ko chto ushël (2020), which is entirely devoted to the experiences related to the journey in the footsteps of the poet and Progulki s Brodskim i tak daleye. Iosif Brodskiy v fil’me Alekseya Shishova i Yeleny Yakovich (2016) by Yelena Yakovich, where Brodsky himself interprets the title of his essay. Methodological tools deriving from the field of geopoetics and cultural geography, such as the place of imagination or reading journeys, proved helpful during the development of the paper.
Iosif Brodskiy v fil'me Alekseya Shishova i Yeleny Yakovich(2016),Brodsky自己解释了他的文章的标题。来自地质地质学和文化地理学领域的方法论工具,如想象之地或阅读之旅,在论文的发展过程中被证明是有用的。

It is typical of the modern linguistic study to reconsider the classical heritage, which makes it possible to observe the dynamics of linguistic processes and the movement vector of scientific thought, as well as to track the problems that still need to be solved nowadays. Such problems include linguistic genderology issues, in particular the description of female speech. In this regard, the little-known German-language research of Yuri Sherekh (Shevelev) Über die Besonderheiten der Sprache der Frauen (1952), which outlines the specificity of female speech at almost all language levels, appears to be of great value. This piece of research remains relevant since it makes it possible to compare the female speech features from different historical periods as well as to rethink the data on the manifestation of conservatism, archaism, negative attitude towards assimilation processes, etc. in female speech, to see the dynamics of the female linguistic worldview and the development of femininity. It seems reasonable enough to state that Shevelev laid the foundation for: 1) a comparative study of gender issues based on the Slavic languages; 2) historical and dialectal gender linguistics of the Ukrainian language; 3) national Ukrainian linguistic genderology, manifested at the level of national linguistic consciousness; 4) the study of gender opposing linguistic worldviews; 5) considering the level manifestation of gender characteristics in linguistic systems.

The article analyzes Olga Lavrenteva’s graphic novel Survilo, which echoes the terror, especially the Stalinist repression and the blockade of Leningrad. Lavrenteva is a graphic artist, author of comic books, representative of the third generation, who presents the story of her grandmother, Valentina Survilo, and her relatives in an unconventional form. Translated into the language of comic books, this family story focuses on the fate of many inhabitants of the Soviet Union. At the same time, as if on the sidelines, Lavrenteva raises an important issue – the coexistence of memory and affect, which is the result of long-term silence. Survilo is not only a record of the past but also of the emotional states of her grandmother, the paralyzing fear that accompanied her, i.e. the physical and psychological costs that the survivors had to bear. Lavrenteva’s graphic novel successfully fits into the new practices of commemoration and witnessing, which are still a novelty in Russia, carrying a great potential for critical revision of the dark past, and – above all – for building a community of memory based on the foundations of intergenerational dialogue.

In the article the scientific works of Mikhail Bakhtin are considered as one text with its own single metaplot. The motive of moving forward (“going forward”) is analyzed and treated as the basis of Bakhtin’s progressive outlook, his hopes for the future and for the dialogue in the Great Time. Attention is drawn to a specific period of the Russian thinker’s intellectual life, that is associated with the departure from the ideas of solipsism. The concept of “I – others” is considered a turning point and is compared with the Copernican revolution, which is carried out in the philosophical worldview of a Russian scientist and then transferred to the studies of the works of Fyodor Dostoevsky. It reveals, in particular, the philosopher’s gradual departure from individual reality and his approach towards personalism. The future for Bakhtin is a creative, active category that determines the present. At the same time it is noted that the forward movement as expressed by the Russian thinker is ambivalent and associated with the turn to the past and the source. Along the way the concepts of memory, the curvature of progress, the idea of historical inversion, etc. are also studied. Besides, Bakhtin’s criticism of the Enlightenment idea of progress, Western rationalism and humanism are mentioned. In this regard Bakhtin’s concept of the rebirth acquires great importance, in which, under the influence of movement towards the future, the past is updated.
