The objective of this text is to analyze how stemming from the promotion of welfare programs in localities denominated as poor, new political actors with direct impact in the form of the local organization have emerged. The “eligible subject” of support has created unheard of forms of social exclusion, at the time in which it has generated various means to administer their life. The presented argument is based on fieldwork, semi-structured interviews, personal archive data collection and bibliographic research. The benefits granted by welfare programs have multiple conceptions among eligible subjects, which transcend the economical.

The objective is to go in depth into the heterogeneity of the orientations and conducts of evangelical Mexicans towards politics and the diverse positions they exhibit. The variables studied ethnographically (Church, community, personal history and economic situation) regarding each parishioner which affect such orientations. Nevertheless, among the findings we can highlight that there are two common renderings of what affect their political orientation: 1) the notion of politics linked to the earthly, the mundane, the negative; 2) a juarist nationalistic exaltation with input from the anticatholic ideology that is common among evangelical Mexicans. It is concluded that in the 2018 elections, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador was supported by an evangelical party base and probably this formation could influence some aspects of the new head of state’s politics.

This paper explores the possibilities of disarming the Canadian migratory propaganda from the perspective of Constanza Camelo Suarez, a Colombian visual artist living in the province of Quebec. To this effect, a counterpoint between two discourses is created (one from the State and the other from an artist), in which the incompatibilities between them are analyzed. This counterpoint is about two concepts: a stereotyped border (fixed, immobile and closed; an obstacle to knowledge) and a dissonant border (flexible, mobile and open; a necessary step towards knowledge).

Los procesos electorales son formas simbolicas de una lucha por el poder. En las campanas electorales se expresan con claridad los proyectos de ciudadania de los contendientes en la disputa por la nacion. Constituyen asi una batalla por la ciudadania. Para mostrar lo anterior, este analisis se realizo a traves de un acercamiento situacional, siguiendo el enfoque de Clyde Mitchel y Alisdair Rogers. Asi, durante los cierres de las campanas electorales de Mexico en 2018, se destacan: a) las formas simbolicas de apropiacion politica del espacio publico; b) las alianzas y redes politicas, que debilitaron o fortalecieron las coaliciones contendientes; y c) el acto discursivo y performativo de las concentraciones politico-electorales.
