Due to the fact that in more than 50 % of cases the appearance of adenopathy in patients over 40 years of age is of probable tumor etiology, the management of cervical masses in adult patients should include the necessary tests to rule out a malignant process. The differential diagnosis is fundamental in this type of lesions, identifying the risk factors, symptoms and signs that orient towards the etiology (congenital, neoplastic, inflammatory or infectious). As concerns cervical adenopathies of infectious cause, they are more frequent in children. However, adults also usually develop them as a consequence of oral or pharyngotonsillar pathology. In these cases, a rapid response to empirical treatment is observed. However, if there is no resolution of the picture with such treatment within 2-3 weeks, it is necessary to extend the study by means of complementary tests. We present a rare case of suppurative lymphadenitis due to Staphylococcus aereus in the cervical region in a 45-year-old woman who presented to the emergency department with a cervical mass.

Ossifying fibromas are benign fibro-osseous neoplasms that affect the craniofacial and mandibular skeleton. Juvenile psamomatoid ossifying fibroma is a rare variant of ossifying fibroma, which can be locally aggressive, and with a high recurrence rate. We present the clinical case of a 15-year-old patient with a morbid history of hypothyroidism and hyperparathyroidism, who consulted for increased volume and displacement of teeth in the right maxilla. The histopathological result was consistent with juvenile psamomatoid ossifying fibroma. Owing to the hospital situation during the COVID-19 the treatment consisted of hemimaxillectomy with iliac crest autograft using digital planning.

Parotid gland metastases are very rare. We present the case of a 73-year-old woman whose main oncological history to highlight is infiltrating ductal carcinoma of the breast treated with mastectomy and axillary lymphadenectomy and after that. metachronous bilateral clear cell renal cell carcinoma treated with radical nephrectomy. Since then, the woman has been on dialysis. It presents a 4 cm parotid tumor, which is radiologically classified as an intraparotid arterial pseudoaneurysm. After extirpation of the parotid gland, six years after the last nephrectomy, in the pathological study, together with dilated vessels, a neoplastic lesion compatible morphologically and immunohistochemically with metastasis of clear cell renal cell carcinoma is observed. A thorough review of the literature has been carried out, finding less than 60 reported cases of parotid metastasis from clear cell renal cell carcinoma. Analyzing them, we observed metastases in other places in 61 % of them, mainly lung, bone and adrenal glands, with a higher percentage of second metastases (70%) when there was a synchrony between renal carcinoma and parotid metastasis. In conclusion, we have presented an unusual case of late metastasis of clear cell renal carcinoma in the parotid, and the first -to our knowledge-, which is diagnosed as an incidental finding in the removal of an intraparotid aneurysm.

Introduction: Ameloblastic fibroma is a rare benign mixed odontogenic tumor that usually presents as a painless swelling in young patients. In this article we performed a literature review and present our experience in the management of fibroblastic ameloblastoma in 4 cases. Material and methods: We performed a review of cases published in the literature in PubMed between 2015 and 2022. Regarding our experience, research in the Anatomical Pathology department was done to find cases of ameloblastic fibroma that had been histologically confirmed. Results: The search rendered 29 results, of which only 9 were selected. All articles were single case reports, and most of them were located in the mandible (77,7 %).

Objectives: To evaluate the effectiveness of a mixture of Salvadoria persica and Nigella sativa in treating dry socket and use as a substitute for alvogyl. Patients and method: 52 randomly selected patients with dry socket confirmed clinically by diagnosis, divided into 2 groups, each group containing 26 patient group A treated by admix, and group B treated by alvogyl, clinical features were recorded on the first, second, and third days after treatment. Results: Visual Analog Scale of pain showed a high score on day one but decreased significantly at 2 and 3 days in both groups. But there were no significant differences in pain scores between the two groups on day 1, day 2, or day 3 separately. The two groups revealed identical mean rank scores of pain during the whole study period. Conclusions: A mixture of Salvadoria persica and Nigella sativa showed a significant analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect in the treatment of dry socket and can be used as a substitute for alvogyl.

Background: Few epidemiological data describe the prevalence of blindness and visual impairment in Senegal. Data from West African studies estimate blindness prevalence between 1.2 - 3.4% and that of visual impairment between 10.4 - 17.1%. IRIS Mundial (IM) is a non-governmental organization collaborating with l'Association St-Louisienne pour la Vue (ASV) to develop eye care in Senegal.
Objective: Describe the relative importance of and causes of blindness and visual impairment in a population consulting for vision problems in the Senegalese region of St. Louis, to assist in planning of relevant eye care programs.
Methods: Results from eye exams carried out by a team from IM in 2018 have been complied and analyzed.
Results: In all, 1944 patients were examined (56.5% female). Some 25.7% of patients presented a visual impairment (22.5% moderate; 3.2% severe). Regarding refractive error, 15.3% of patients had myopia, 10.7% had hyperopia, 54.8% had astigmatism and 55.8% were presbyopic. Clinically significant cataracts is present in 17.4% of patients and glaucoma in 2.5%.
Conclusion: Our data give a glimpse of the prevalence of visual impairment and ocular disease in St. Louis, Senegal. Uncorrected refractive error, cataracts and glaucoma are present in this population and may guide the planning of relevant eye care interventions.

Currently, post-operative complications of its fixation are not too frequent, however, the possibility of obtaining unfavorable results can involve significant disfigurement and functional alterations. evaluate the results of surgical management of patients. Objective: Evaluate results of surgical management in patients with facial fractures in a thirdlevel care hospital. Methods: Analytical cross-sectional study, including 279 patients with facial fractures, treated by fixation with miniplates and titanium screws. The variables to be studied were, demographic variables, the etiology and anatomical location of the fracture, postsurgical complications, re-intervention and hospital stay. Results: We included 279 patients, male/female 238/41, average age 34.3 years. The most common etiology was aggression (48.7 %). The most frequent location was mandible (44.3 %). Of the total, 10.4 % presented postoperative complications, of which 5.8 % were related to osteosynthesis material and 4.6 % were general and average hospital stay was 12 days. Conclusion: In conclusion, our study presented results similar to those reported in the literature. Facial fractures, surgical management and results in a third level hospital
