A novel full-bridge converter suitable for low-voltage high-current output applications is proposed. It realizes ZVS for all switches over the entire load range with the use of voltage complementary auxiliary network on the primary side. A current-doubler rectifier is adopted on the secondary side which has no duty cycle loss and no secondary voltage spike. The operation principle and characteristic of the converter are discussed in detail. The design method of key parameters is given. The performance of the proposed converter is verified by experimental results.

A full-bridge class-D amplifier with output power enhancement is presented herein. Hence, the output power of the proposed structure is nine times of that of the traditional one. In this paper, first of all, the basic operating principles are described, and secondly some design considerations are taken into account, and lastly, some experimental results are provided to demonstrate the proposed topology.

We have proposed a q-axis flux observer based speed sensorless vector control for induction motors with stator resistance identification. A linear model of proposed system is derived and the trajectories of poles and zeros are shown to study the stability limit. A simulation program is developed including the effects of discrete algorithm of proposed method, PWM mechanism and the characteristic of IGBT. The system stability for various parameters are discussed in detail by comparing the experimental results with the simulation results.

This paper proposes a high efficiency driving circuit for multiple high-brightness light emitting diode (HB-LED) lamps with dimming feature. A high-frequency half-bridge series resonant inverter is adopted as a current driver. By appropriately controlling the frequency of the active switches and the resonant tank, the lamp currents can be regulated effectively. On the other hand, the LED lamps can be dimmed individually by the integral cycle control. The tactful circuit ensures high circuit efficiency owing to the advantages of less conducting losses and zero-voltage switching (ZVS) operation of the active power switches and zero current switching (ZCS) operation of the dimming switches. A prototype circuit designed for three white light HB-LED lamps was built and tested to verify the analytical predictions.

The application of the actuator to the robot that has a peculiar control function and output properties as seen in the living is expected. This paper shows two-joint robot arm system by motor drive with the planetary gear. The distribution at the end of arm is clarified. Moreover, to make better the ability of the actuator, higher force can be put out around the tip with the aid of the function of bi-articular muscle.

The objective of the discrete-time modeling tools is twofold. First, they give an insight into the basic ideas of discrete-time modeling of dc-dc converters for university students and interested power electronics specialists. Second, as it is being presented below, the interactive calculation tools facilitate the fast and simple modeldevelopment in WEB browser after entering the basic circuit and load parameters. This feature can especially be useful for the practicing design engineers, since without long calculations with matrix functions the linearized discrete-time system model is immediately and automatically developed in both mathematical form (state-space equations and transfer functions in the Z domain) and also in graphical form (pole-zero map and bode plot).

This work attempts to explain reactive power consumption in a line commutated HVDC transmission system and suggests a possible solution to reduce it. A series injection strategy has been formulated using voltage-source converters and the effects have been simulated indicating a significant reduction in reactive power consumption by the converter terminal and consequently that supplied by the source. An important outcome is the fact that the suggested set of series injection devices reduces the reactive power consumption of the converter and thus would require smaller size and cost to build. This advantage becomes more significant in case of floating offshore systems which would require lighter support structures.

A novel inverter with both high step-up ratio and buck-boost capabilities for distributed energy resources (DERs) is proposed in this paper. A flyback-type auxiliary step-up circuit is integrated to the isolated Cuk-derived VSI to achieve a much higher voltage conversion ratio while avoiding the use of extreme duty ratios of both dc-side switch and inverter side switches. The proposed inverter can naturally perform capacitive charging in parallel and discharging in series to give a higher voltage level without increasing dc-side switch voltage stress and sacrificing the buck-boost characteristics of the ac output voltage. In this paper, steady state characteristics, performance analyses and representative simulations are made to show the merits of the proposed inverter.

A closed-loop 2-stage multiphase switched-capacitor (MPSC) converter is proposed by variablephase control (VPC) and pulse-width-modulation (PWM) technique for DC-DC step-up conversion and high-efficiency regulation. In this 2-stage MPSC, 2 voltage doublers are connected in series for boosting voltage gain up to 4 at most. For improving efficiency, the VPC is suggested to realize variable multiphase operation by changing phase number and topological path according to the desired output voltage so as to obtain the more suitable level of voltage gain. Besides, PWM is adopted for the better output regulation to compensate the dynamic error between the practical and desired outputs. Further, the relevant theoretical analysis includes: MPSC model, steady-state analysis, power efficiency, voltage conversion ratio. Finally, the closed-loop VPC-PWM-based MPSC is simulated, and all the results are illustrated to show the efficacy of the proposed scheme
