In the event of the growing demands, Long-Term Evolution (LTE) was introduced to satisfy user's needs. User's demands are for improvement in the throughput as well as the Quality of Service (QoS) in the wireless network. Hence, through this research, tests on several uplink scheduling methods are carried out, and the data produced from the tests are collected and analyzed. Simulation results showed that LTE-compliant round robin approach outperforms the first maximum expansion which has been proposed earlier in transmitting real-time applications over LTE.

The edge detection algorithm usually applies in the first step of image process. This paper focused about edge detection algorithm implementing on FPGA using advanced design tool Xilinx System Generator. We proposed new edge detection image design for hardware co-simulation, applied Prewitt operator in design. Atlys kit is employed for hardware/software implementation. The cost-efficient hardware co-simulation is adopted to evaluate the real-time performance of an edge detection algorithm.

In an embedded system, power consumption and execution time are important factors in performance. Code quality determines the performance factors, which is greatly influenced by a compiler. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of GCC 4.7.1 in comparison of that of GCC 4.2.2 on the EISC architecture with EEMBC in terms of the number of dynamic instructions and compiled code size. The results show that GCC 4.7 reduces 6.8% of the dynamic instructions, but increases 2.9% of code size from GCC 4.2.2.

In vision-based tracking system, thresholding is one of the most important steps in image pre-processing. Thresholding algorithm has a strong influence on both accuracy and performance in object tracking. Thresholding algorithms are classified as global thresholding or local thresholding. In general, the computing power required for local thresholding algorithm is more than ten times that of global thresholding algorithm, so global thresholding algorithm is suitable for a real-time application. The Otsu's method is the most famous global thresholding algorithm, however, it misclassifies object as background in some cases. To reduce the misclassification problems, we apply the modified Otsu's method for indoor mobile robot tracking system. Experimental results show that applied algorithm improves the performance of thresholding results.

Tele-medicine service is playing an important role in near future. The rapid growth of information and communication technology (ICT) is an important driver to improve medical services. Moreover, a number of medical sensors/devices have been introduced. In this work, we study medical environments and infrastructure that affect the medical service quality and summarise the necessary services. Based on such study result, we have proposed the framework of web-based interactive teleconsultation for clinical diagnosis. Our study consists of framework designed, and some features included. We have shown that some features are advanced and useful for teleconsultation in particular.

A vertical power MOSFET with the extended trench oxide is proposed. The key feature of this device structure is that the trench oxide, which is set in the side of the device, is extended to n+ substrate. This technique decreases the corner effect of oxide and improves the tradeoff between breakdown voltage (BV) and the specific on-resistance (Ron, sp). Silvaco T-CAD tool is used for the simulation to analyze characteristics of the device.

In this paper proposed is a cost-efficient architecture of FIR filter for portable digital spectrum analyzers. In order to reduce the hardware complexity, we split an FIR filter into multiple stages, which share the hardware resources such as multipliers and adders with one another. It makes sense because portable spectrum analyzers should be implemented with very low hardware costs and the real-time working is not mandatory in the systems. The proposed architecture can reduce the hardware costs to a quarter of existing FIR filter's complexity.

Recent years have witnessed an explosion of multimedia contents available online. However, noisy and spam tags provided by spammers dramatically degrade the trust level of Social Networking Service. In this paper, we propose a novel social multimedia tagging system based on a user trust model which exploits the low-level visual features of multimedia contents. Especially, we first analyze the low-level visual features of similar multimedia contents and then measure trust scores of each user. With the trust scores, we construct a new user trust model and propagate the most relevant and reliable tags to the untagged multimedia content based on the user trust model.
