A diverse category of malignancies called oral squamous cell carcinomas (OSCCs) develops from the mucosal lining of the oral cavity. The bulk of these malignancies are linked to risky lifestyle behaviors such as smoking, binge drinking, and betel nut chewing. The majority of malignant epithelial tumors of the head and neck are OSCCs, which make up 80%–90% of all malignant tumors of the oral cavity. The fifth to eighth decade of life is when the incidence rate is highest. Less than 40-year-old age groups are an uncommon exception to the OSCC rule. Although it occasionally varies on the population and the habits of the people, the border of the tongue is the most common place for OSCC, followed by the lower lip, the floor of the mouth, the ventral tongue, and the alveolar mucosa/gingiva. There have been noticeably better results on recent improvements in diagnostic and therapy planning. Although the standard of care for OSCC remains surgery, adjuvant radiation, and chemotherapy, advancements in these therapeutic modalities have allowed for better prognoses and the saving of many lives. In the present case report, we evaluated an OSCC in a 53-year-old female patient.

Background: If oral mucosal lesions are detected early by the oral health practitioners, there will be a better prognosis for the lesions diagnosed. This cross-sectional study was designed to assess the perceptions and awareness of dental students of the Government Dental College and Hospital, Mumbai, toward oral tissues. Materials and Methods: A questionnaire was created to assess the perceptions and awareness of dental students towards oral tissues. This questionnaire had 25 questions with multiple choices. Options of these questions were based on 3-point and 5-point Likert scale. This questionnaire was converted into a Google Form and distributed among all the undergraduate students of the Government Dental College and Hospital, Mumbai, along with a declaration form via electronic methods such as Gmail and WhatsApp, after explaining to them the aim and objectives of the study. Results: A total of n = 334 dental students responded, yielding a response rate of 66.8%. Most dental students agreed that it is important to focus on oral soft tissues apart from oral hard tissues. Most participants believed that it is the role of the dentist to perform the complete oral examination. Lack of training, confidence, time, etc., were seen as barriers to at least some degree by participants. Conclusion: This study highlights the awareness of oral soft tissues among dental students and the importance of its academic reinforcement. This would definitely help budding dentists to work more on oral cancer prevention and detection, which ultimately may lead to a decrease in the incidence of oral cancers.

Prefabricated attachments are routinely preferred as they are more precise, but sometimes, due to cost factor and unavailability of the exact size of the attachment required, it is difficult to use. This article describes a case report, which highlights the technique of the fabrication of semi-precision attachment using a pen refill and sprue wax for long-span fixed partial denture in a very cheap cost and with good fit and accuracy.

The growing body of graphic fiction includes some novels that especially address the patient experience of disease or caring for those with an illness. The term “graphic medicine” refers to visual storytelling that explores narratives about the body, health care, healing, and disability. Recently, graphic medicine, an interdisciplinary discipline combining comics and medicine launched COVID-19 comics, an online collection of comics, editorial cartoons, autobiographical cartoons, and social media posts. Children behave better and feel less nervous about seeing the dentist thanks to the dental story. Following an oral health education program that uses cartoon animation for dental health, oral hygiene improves. Activities for comic book media counseling are successful in raising knowledge. Comics help in educating parents about oral health. The review's objective was to investigate the importance of educational comics in dentistry to educate pediatric patients, adults, and parents.

Salivary gland disorder occurs commonly because of salivary calculi, which may occur at any age and involves any of the salivary glands. Most of the cases of sialolithiasis occur in the submandibular salivary gland as its duct is most prone to and common for acute and chronic infections. The symptoms include decreased or obstructed salivary flow. This case report presents a case of a patient with sialolithiasis of the submandibular gland and its treatment. It also includes etiology, signs and symptoms, diagnosis, and various treatment modalities.

Physiology of a child is much different from an adult and a child should not be considered a small-sized adult. They have different developmental pharmacokinetics due to which they are more sensitive to drug effects. This has led to the adoption of new dental materials derived from natural origin instead of conventional chemicals to reduce the side effects and complications. Propolis is one such natural substance that is widely used for various clinical trials in dentistry and has shown very promising results. Due to its anti-inflammatory, anticariogenic, and immunomodulating effects, it has now become quite familiar material in dental applications. It is eco-friendly, economical, complications free, easily available, and easy to use in daily dental practices. Hence, it has opened a new field of research and analysis for scientists and researchers.

Surgical considerations and related complications in oral implantology: A comprehensive review 口腔种植外科手术注意事项及相关并发症:全面回顾

Dental implants have become a remarkable face of modern dentistry and are considered to be one of the several treatment options that can be used to replace missing teeth, which is considered to be an advanced procedure for oral health. The biologic basis of hard- and soft-tissue interfaces between the implant and the surrounding tissues and their clinical relevance plays a major role in the success of implant. Further, it is very crucial to explore the best suited approach for implant treatment planning. Numerous surgical protocols are required to cover the standard sets of steps for placing implant in complex as well as noncomplex situations for implant-supported dental prosthetics. However, dental implants may fail as a result of mechanical complications, such as screw loosening or due to biological causes such as periimplant diseases. As a result, dental personnel should be able to recognize these complications and the factors that have negative effects on the success of such implant-supported restorations or prostheses. Therefore, it is required to have an appropriate knowledge of dental implants for every dental student, hygienist, and dentist. Maintenance of implant-supported restorations and prostheses requires long-term follow-ups, so it is the responsibility of the patient to maintain good oral hygiene.
