Considering the guidelines contained in documents such as the IEEE Standard 519 and IEC 61000-3-6 that includes, among other indexes of power quality, the thematic of the harmonic distortion, the mentioned text refers to issues associated with definitions, measuring procedures, reference values, etc. Taking under consideration these determinations, and recognizing that the mitigating solutions for the adequacy of performance indexes involve significant financial costs, the proposition of finding ways to determine the responsibility for possible violations of pre-established limits for harmonic distortion arises. Among the proposals found to detect the contribution portions coming from the supplier and the customer, it is noteworthy that, in general, the methodologies based on principles use the frequency domain harmonized with the superposition of effects. Despite the simplicity of this procedure, it is emphasized that it relies on measuring information and on the previous knowledge of the equivalent harmonic impedances of the utility and customer, whose information are of difficult access. In this context, this paper is focused on a feasibility proposition to solve the above mentioned difficulties in obtaining the percentage of responsibility between the parties.

This paper deal with new technique of single-phase loads distribution over three phases for the purpose of voltage unbalance minimization. The problem formulation and a target function choice is given. On the basis of an additive method for the decision of tasks with binary variables the optimization technique of loads distribution is developed and algorithm of its realization is offered. Also the numerical example for this techniques illustration is given.

This paper considers electrical power as a product which should cover certain quality norms. The voltage characteristics limits according to the standard EN 50160 are accepted as quality norms. The article discusses the approaches to the monitoring and inspection of the electrical power quality. On that aim, two configurations for remote control of the power quality analysers by a computer were tested. The practical realisation could be applied in any case when Internet access or Mobile Network coverage are available.

This paper describes the modeling and simulation of High Pressure Roller Crusher (HPRC) for the production of silicon carbide grains. The study is to make a model for simulation of a High Pressure Roller Crusher. A High Pressure Roller Crusher (HPRC) is an important part in the production of silicon carbide, where the grains are crushed into powder form and then sieved into specified sizes based on its usage. This paper will present a model based on Johanson's theory for roller compactors, considering all the delays. The non-linearity or delays were handled using Matlab software. Conclusions are given at end of the paper.

This paper is aimed at obtaining dielectric and thermal withstand capability curves of electronic devices in order to demonstrate the allowable voltage and current effect limits. The idea is to establish a computational procedure to compare system voltage and current disturbances with the equipment tolerance permitted values to guarantee the physical integrality of the product. To highlight the methodology, new and second hand TV, stereo, personal computer units are experimentally driven to their extreme dielectric and thermal strengths. The results are then referred as tolerance curves which are used as guidelines for the computational analysis of the consistency of a given relationship between a system occurrence and the consumer claimed damage for a specific product. The applicability of the whole process can be justified by the growing interest in the establishment of systematic procedures, based on well accepted computational simulations, yielding final reports that provide the necessary answer to the refunding process demand.

Portuguese power systems are achieving very high supply reliability levels, with a sustainable reduction of the number and duration of voltage interruptions during the last decade. In this framework, Power Quality is assuming more and more importance on the Quality of Service and customers requirements. Aware of these trends, EDP Distribuição has been developing an ambitious Power Quality monitoring programme in order to overcome the associated challenges. This paper describes the evolution of the adopted methodology, a description of the Power Quality monitoring platform and the main challenges in its future expansion. Some results are also presented corresponding to Power Quality monitoring carried out in HV/MV substations and MV/LV secondary substations.

The paper outlines a recently developed numerical computation algorithm set up for the analysis of the electromagnetic interferences generated by the overhead high voltage lines (OHL) on the neighbour pipeline networks. The main advantage of the algorithm proposed is that it can handle applications with unparallel arrangements between OHL and pipelines and therefore the induced potential and current values are more accurately computed than the traditional software packages. For this purpose, an original full 3D electromagnetic field model was developed. The computational module is based on a coupled Finite elements (FEM) — Boundary elements (BEM) numerical analysis technique that is detailed in the first part of the paper. The computation accuracy of the numerical algorithm developed was tested considering simple cases and comparing the numerical results with those obtained using a known software package based on the Transmission Lines Method (TLM). In the second part of the paper an application in the case of a OHL working on normal and fault conditions is outlined. The importance of the magnitude and direction of the currents flowing through the OHL on the induced potentials distribution along the victim pipeline is outlined. The final conclusions end the paper.

An optimization problem of calculating optimal parameters of the third-order passive filter for centralized reduction of harmonic voltages in a radial network with distributed nonlinear loads is formulated. In order to solve the problem a two-stage algorithm is developed on the basis of particle swarm optimization and interior point techniques. The application of the suggested algorithm is exemplified by a real 220 kV network.
