Abstract Although the investigation of emotional intelligence levels and personality traits such as Machiavellian behavior of the manager and the family firm’s workforce is critical in understanding the role of emotions in family business dynamics and in drawing conclusions regarding their effects on the overall business performance, the subject has not been examined adequately. Utilizing modern tools, this paper aims to measure and evaluate the qualitative characteristics of family business managers’ behavior to analyze their influence on the firms’ performance. In particular, it examines whether emotional intelligence and Machiavellianism determine the efficiency of the management in Greek family businesses’ performance. For this purpose, a structural equation model was specified and applied to fieldwork data to test the statistical validity of the hypothesis. The findings suggest that, while emotional intelligence plays an important role, Machiavellian personality does not. This paper aims to investigate the diffusion of the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and the degree of implementation of CSR practices among the Greek Mining and Quarrying Companies. A research study was conducted through a structured questionnaire among the ISO 9001 certified Greek Mining and Quarrying Companies. CSR appears to be very important for large companies which are able to allocate resources for the required CSR actions. Results show that most of the financial resources available for CSR actions are related to the environment and that respondents expect that through CSR actions they gain better relationships with the local community and the general business environment, they achieve improved employee performance, and they attract and maintain high-potential employees. Participants in the research consider bureaucracy, lack of knowledge, the small size of business and the implementation costs as the main inhibitors for the achievement of the CSR principles. The research of this work was limited to the Greek mining companies that are certified according to ISO 9001. Future research could be conducted on the CSR awareness of the non-certified companies as well. The study may help managers of the mining companies to focus on specific CSR elements when they decide to follow CSR principles. The implementation of the CSR principles in the mining industry has attracted considerable attention in the CSR literature and this study is an attempt to assess the concept and the benefits of CSR within Greek mining sector. The present research refers to the role of car rental in the travel industry with a case study on the island of Lefkada. The agencies in the car rental industry have received a great deal of attention in recent years, due to the fact that they have shown immense growth in and out of Greece. In Greece, the car rental industry is most often associated with tourism as it presents the largest turnover of tourists-customers. In the present paper, rent-a-car agencies in the island of Lefkada are canvassed in the literature and research field with the aim of drawing conclusions in relation to their basic features and the quantitative and quality depiction of their workforce. Regarding the research process, a quantitative and qualitative research was carried out. The main tool used in the quantitative research was the questionnaire which was distributed to agencies operating in the field of the car rental industry in the island of Lefkada. The tool of the qualitative research was the interview, which took place in three agencies through face-to-face meetings with their executives. The results indicated that the course of the Greek car rental market, in recent years, is on the rise, which creates a positive climate for the development and progress of the industry. Finally, certain suggestions for future research based on the conclusions are the study on European Funds and NSRF programs for the purchase of electric cars and the simplification of procedures, i.e. the automatization of most actions such as online check. Accumulation of overdue tax debts has been a thorn in the side of Greek fiscal policy in the past two decades. The dramatic accumulation of tax debts during the crisis of 2008 called for urgent reforms and measures to tackle the problem. Under the pressure of three Economic Adjustment Programmes, the MOU governments embarked on an effort to reform Greek Tax Administration, with emphasis on independence, depoliticization and wider digital transformation. This has been a slow process yet to be completed and the strains to the system introduced by the ongoing health crisis, make the need for reform even more urgent. The present paper puts overdue tax debts into perspective, analyzes the process of accumulation and brings out its main features, assesses the efficiency of Tax Administration and comes up with several policy recommendations. After we profile overdue debts stock and its characteristics, we compile an input-output table, which leads us to the composition of a series of indicators, which help assess the efficiency of tax administration in the context of the fiscal policies of the last two decades. The results of the research indicate poor quality of debts accumulated over time, as well as low efficiency of the Tax Administration, but with some improvement in recent years.

On early ‘70s the consumers stopped preferring retsina, due to many reasons, some of them have already been mentioned, like the bad quality of the wine, that the owners of small Greek restaurants used and with the use of resin they were trying to cover the wine’s flaws, of the change of the lifestyle, because anything that was related to the tradition or the countryside was characterized as outdated. Finally, the living standards change and that made the consumers seek of more elegant and aromatic and wines. The last decade despite all the above facts, some wine producers have started to produce higher quality of resinated wine to ensure that this product will remain on the market. The cause of this research is to figure out what is today’s consumers mindset regarding resonated wine and their opinion on the new trend of higher quality retsina. The method which used, was to collect data through a questionnaire. The questions are about demographics, questions about wine consumption and questions about retsina. The questionnaire was shared through Social Media. The number of answers reached 768 questionnaires throughout Greece. The results were processed with SPSS Statistics 22. Background: The EFQM Model, the most widely applied Business Excellence Model in Europe, can be used by any type of organization in order to conduct a thorough analysis of its strengths and its areas for improvement. The model can be used in two ways: both as a diagnostic tool for self-assessment and as a model for management control. Purpose: The main objective of this paper is to identify and analyze the modifications introduced to the latest version of the EFQM Model (version 2020). In an attempt to depict the main elements of the revised version, a comparison is made between the last and the previous version of the model aiming to identify the key features that need to be considered by applicant organizations when they decide to fulfill the model’s new requirements. Methodology: A literature review is conducted in order to illustrate the evolution of the model to date and a comparative analysis is used as a key research method for studying the differences between the last two versions of the model. The research is supported by interviewing Certified Assessors of the EFQM Model who have already got trained in the new features of the latest version. Findings: The 2020 version allows organizations and individuals to embrace change, drive performance and evolve for the future. The creation of the Assess Base has replaced the previous paper – driven process and it brought the assessment process a step closer to digitalization for both EFQM members and Assessors. Research Limitation: The latest version of the EFQM Model 2020 is very new and the knowledge related to its use is very limited. Therefore, the findings of this paper are mainly driven by the Assessors’ knowledge and involvement with little possibility to question or confirm the points extracted from them. Originality/ value: This paper is the first attempt to compare the last two versions of the EFQM Model. By illustrating the new key features introduced to the model, this paper may form the basis for further research on the benefits gained by the use of these features. Human Resource Management is defined as "The design, implementation and maintenance of strategies to manage people for optimum organization performance where they work". It constitutes a set of strategies to be implemented in the public sector so that its operations could give high quality services and satisfaction to the citizens. This paper deals with the role and importance of human resource management in creating an efficient and functionally sound Greek public sector. An attempt is made to analyze the importance of Human Resource Management in the operation and development of public bodies through its connection to the Common Evaluation Framework which is essentially a "new" tool for Total Quality Management and which has been the subject of research by many scholars. It is apparent the lack of adoption of quality management principles and the lack of a culture of change which leads to reduced efficiency of public services and its human resources. This combined by the lack of implementation of modern Total Quality Management practices with due emphasis on skills, employee training, performance appraisal, communication and labor relations. The present research has shown that it is imperative to upgrade the human resource management strategies implemented in the public sector of our country through the broader and more effective implementation of the principles of human resource management in order to both enhance employee performance and effective functioning of the public sector. The current study presents the driving sources and the challenges of the modern organizational environments. The New forms of communication, networking, the multicultural environment, and the structural issues in organizations as well as ethics are some of the challenges that the modern organizational environment deals with. We ask employees of different demographic background to evaluate all these new changes and challenges and we assess how people react towards these new characteristics. We also investigate how people believe organizations can integrate these new trends in compliance with an effective organizational performance. The use of the Conjoint Analysis and the scenario technique allow us to investigate and understand the significance of different characteristics or factors that influence the modern organizational environment and the coexistence of different generations in organizations. The Conjoint Analysis is a multidimensional analysis that can also provide information in a group but also in an individual level. This can help us to create interesting metrics for people and segmentations that lead to an organizational strategic design and sustainability. The present study can have applications in the business, social science, and politics environment. EL Classifications: G34, G14, M41. Mainstream approaches to circular economy focus on the economic and the environmental dimensions disregarding the social element of sustainable development. Proper integration of the social dimension requires the adoption of a different consumption culture and of economic behavior in general, all of which fall within the mentality of the social and solidarity economy. This perspective places due attention to social responsibility (articulated through cooperation, solidarity, sharing with, and caring for others) aiming to serve the collective interest and to increase social value and wealth. Yet, the literature that explores the links between social and solidarity economy, sustainable development and circular economy remains limited. Aiming to contribute to this literature and to advance the social dimension of CE, the current work analyzes and evaluates specific CE initiatives specialized in the reuse of used clothing in Greece, employing the perspective of social and solidarity economy. These are: a collectivity, a social enterprise, and a non-profit organization. The research assesses their effectiveness and longevity discussing also their attachment to the ideals of social and solidarity economy.
Social and solidarity economy initiatives in circular economy: the case of second-hand clothing in Greece
It finds that the examined initiatives are all successful and satisfy to a certain degree the values and principles of social and solidarity economy, providing a sound basis to expand and enrich the concept and the approach of circular economy with due emphasis on the social dimension. \u0000 \u0000Keywords: Circular economy, social and solidarity economy, reuse, second-hand clothing, sustainable development \u0000JEL codes: B52, B55, D02, L31, O17, O35, Q56 \u0000
