Comparison of shear bond strength and color reproduction of two different high-performance polymers veneered with two different thicknesses of resin composite: an in-vitro study 用两种不同厚度的树脂复合材料贴面两种不同高性能聚合物的剪切结合强度和颜色再现的比较:一项体外研究

Objective: to evaluate the effect of material type and veneer thickness on the final color and shear bond strength of PEEK bilayered restorations. Material and Methods: sixty-four square-shaped core specimens (7×7×2), were fabricated by CAD/CAM technology from two high-strength polymers, BioHPP (High-Performance Polymer, group B n=32), and Pekkton® ivory (PolyEtherKetoneKetone, group P n=32) then were veneered with resin composite (crea.lign dentin A3). Specimens from each group were divided (n=16) according to the veneer layer thickness (0.5 & 1 mm), then according to the test applied (n=8), either deltaE or shear bond strength (SBS). Specimen surfaces were treated according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Specimens were veneered according to the manufacturer’s instructions.The mode of failure was evaluated under a stereomicroscope at 40 x magnification after the shear bond strength test. Results: data showed parametric distribution and variance homogeneity and were analyzed using two-way ANOVA. The significance level was set at p<0.05 for all tests. Statistical analysis was performed with the R statistical analysis software version 4.3.1.Results of two-way ANOVA showed that material types and veneer thicknesses had an individual significant effect on the color change. For the shear bond strength, only the sample thickness (1mm) had a significant effect (p=0.033). The majority of samples in different groups presented a mixed failure mode with all the differences being not statistically significant (p>0.05). Conclusion: the thickness of the resin composite veneer can significantly affect the final esthetic outcome and shear bond strength of a bilayered restoration. Impact of maternal periodontal health on fetus weight in Iraqi pregnant women: a clinical study 伊拉克孕妇牙周健康对胎儿体重影响的临床研究

Objective: the aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between periodontal health condition and the weight of fetuses in Iraqi pregnant women in order to magnify the importance of periodontal health maintenance during pregnancy. Material and Methods: fetus weight was determined using ultrasound scanning for 222 pregnant women, accordingly they were divided into two groups: group A: normal fetus weight and group B: below normal fetal weight. Their periodontal condition was examined by means of Plaque index (PI), Gingival index (GI), Bleeding on probing (BOP) and Clinical Attachment loss (CAL) using WHO CPITN periodontal probe. WHO charts of normal fetal weight for each week were considered to determine the normality of fetus weight. Results: significant value p=0.00 was obtained when comparing the examined periodontal parameters between groups A and B, mean of periodontal parameters of PI, GI and BOP were higher in group B (1.1964: 1.4541), (1.1877: 1.4925), (0.3553: 1.3748) respectively. Q2 and IQR of PI, BOP and GI in group A were (1.190:0.3), (0.30:0.5), (1.160:0.3) respectively. And (1.460:0.24) (1.50:0.7) (1.460:0.26) in Group B. There were 4 cases of CAL in group A as opposed to 88 cases in group B, Q2 of CAL in group A=0.00, Q2 in group B=1.00. IQR=0.00 in both groups. Non-significant value p=0. 503(p>0.05) was seen when comparing the incidence of low fetal weight between the three trimesters. Conclusion: it is important to maintain a good periodontal condition and oral Hygiene status in pregnant women for healthier fetal weight and healthier pregnancy with less complications.

Suckermouth catfish bone extract as bone graft raw material for bone-healing promotes bone growth in bone loss 鲶鱼骨提取物作为骨移植材料用于骨愈合,促进骨质流失的骨生长

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the properties of suckermouth catfish bone extract, which allows it to be adopted as a raw material for bone graft following its graft in an artificial defect of a rat model. Material and Methods: Hydroxyapatite (HA) from suckermouth catfish bone extract was characterized using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and its toxicity was evaluated by Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT). This material was grafted on artificial defects in rats’ femoral bones, which were observed immunologically by Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) after one week and four weeks, and radiographically in the second week, and histologically in the second and fourth weeks. Results: FTIR shows that this material consists of phosphate, hydroxyl, and carbonate groups, while the BSLT results show that this material is not toxic. Observations by ELISA showed an increase in the expression of Tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-a) in defects with HA in the fourth week. Radiographically the defect did not show closure in the second week. In contrast, histological analysis showed a better bone healing process in the defect, which was applied with the HA of the suckermouth catfish bone. Conclusion: The HA extracted from the suckermouth catfish bone has beneficial properties as an alternative to bone graft raw material and, more investigated needed to support this biomaterial to be used in the treatment of bone loss. Influence of two natural cross-linkers on microtensile bond strength durability An in vitro study 两种天然交联剂对微拉伸键强度耐久性的影响

Objective: to investigate the effect of two natural cross-linkers on microtensile bond strength (microTBS) and evaluate their influence on the durability of the resin dentin bonds. Material and Methods: the Moringa oleifera and Centella asiatica plant extracts were qualitatively tested with high-performance thin layer chromatography (HPTLC) for the presence of phenols. The phenolic content ranged from 27 to 30 gallic acid equivalents (GAE), microg/mg of dry weight. After etching, two concentrations (5% and 1%) of these two extracts were prepared and used as pretreatment liners on dentin. They were applied for a min. After restoration with resin composite, dentin resin beams were prepared. The study groups were 5% Moringa, 1% Moringa 5% Centella 1% Centella, and control (without cross-linker application). For each group, half of the samples underwent microTBS testing after 24 hours, while the remaining half were immersed in artificial saliva to assess the bond’s longevity after 6 months of ageing. Statistical analysis was performed using one-way ANOVA followed by Tukey’s post hoc test. Results: both 5% and 1% Moringa showed a significant difference (p<0.05) compared to the other groups at both intervals. However, after ageing, the specimens in the control and 1% Centella groups resulted in a significant decrease in microTBS. Conclusion: overall, both concentrations of Moringa (5% and 1%) were effective in stabilising the bond during both intervals. Transcrestal sinus lift with simultaneous implant placement using osseodensification in posterior maxilla with residual bone height of 4-6 mm 经瓣窦提升术,同时种植体置入后颌骨密度,残骨高度4-6毫米

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the transcrestal sinus lift using Osseodensification technique with simultaneous implant placement. Material and Methods: In this case series 7 patients who needed implant placement in the atrophic posterior maxilla were enrolled. In all the cases the residual bone height between the sinus floor and the alveolar crest was 4-6 mm. Transcrestal sinus lift was performed using Osseodensification with simultaneous implant placement. Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) were obtained immediately postoperative and 6 months after operation. Implant stability using Osstell ® were assessed at the time of implant placement and implant exposure (6 months). Results: The results showed that the mean bone height gain was 5.33±0.83mm at 6 months postoperatively. Mean bone density value was 818.43±109.63 HU. Mean ISQ value was 80.00±3.11 at 6 months postoperatively. The duration of surgical procedure (minutes) ranged between 25-38 minutes with an average of 30.86±4.10 minutes. Conclusion: The crestal maxillary sinus floor elevation using Osseodensification technique with simultaneous implant placement provide superior results regarding bone density and implant stability and less duration of surgical procedure.
