THE ROLE OF THE CULTURAL MEDIATOR IN REDUCING THE DISTANCE BETWEEN ROMANIA AND CHINA 文化中介在拉近罗马尼亚与中国之间距离中的作用

In Romania, the interest for the Chinese language and culture within the civil society is considerable. In order to meet this demand, the institutional efforts made by specialists at the level of schools and universities down to the language teaching centres of other cultural institutes is combined with the activity of cultural mediators. In this paper I will try to present the versatile role of the cultural mediators, as engaged in the dissemination of the Chinese language and culture in the broader context of literary translations and the whole cultural phenomenon brought about by the dialogue with China.

LE TOURNANT INTERCULTUREL DANS LA TRADUCTION 翻译中的跨文化转变

Since the introduction in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, teaching, assessment (CEFR) of a recommendation with regards to the development in an intercultural competence, this idea is slowly gaining ground. The initial vague realization of its importance gave way to the genuine practice of an intercultural pedagogy. Of course, the Strasbourg commission who set up the Common European Framework didn’t invent the concept of interculturality from scratch, as the notion had already been circulating for a while, notably in the field of communication. Our paper sets out to problematize the importance of interculturality for both practical and theoretical aspects of translation. We will highlight the role of J.P. Ladmiral in the emergence of the notion as a key concept in contemporary translation studies. But, with the recognition of the role played by interculturality, comes the risk of transforming it into a new intellectual fad, with its clichés and mental laziness that impede understanding of the real challenges the notion poses. This is why we consider that it’s important to be more rigorous in its use and try to situate it in relation to rival concepts, within each particular field of studies. With respect to the field of translation, we will evaluate whether it is appropriate to speak of an actual intercultural turn, or merely of a shift in what scholars call the cultural turn.

The paper highlights three real-life instances of discrimination against children in the pre-school and elementary school system in Romania that are more than twenty years apart. The paper then briefly surveys the official EU perspective on the fight against discrimination in education, alongside the current EU vision for an inclusive education. The final section focuses on the practice of fighting discrimination in the Romanian schooling system, thereby emphasizing the unbridged gap yet between the humanistic vision of inclusiveness, learner diversity and mutual enrichment on the one hand and the current inadequate materialization of inclusive educational policies in Romania on the other. Suggestions for addressing the problem conclude the paper.

The nowadays transition to online or blended education has challenged teachers in all educational institutions in their attempt to interact with their students in a new or lesser-known environment. At the opposite pole, students went through the educational process into a familiar environment where they are certainly in the comfort zone. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the perception of students regarding the formation of language skills (English language), within the context of using communication platforms. Beyond the pros and cons of outside the virtual classroom, there are two parties directly involved in the education process (student and teacher) that should be listened to.

Book reviews, as well as scientific texts, are unanimously appreciated for their formative and informative value. In order to highlight specific features of both types of texts, a comparative analysis will be used, based on cognitive theory, mainly the prototype theory and the family resemblance theory, and a corpus linguistics methodology. The article pursues various aspects of communication of scientific information in these two types of texts in point of lexical units and other linguistic means.

EXPLORING THE RELEVANCE OF INTRODUCING GENRE-BASED APPROACHES TO TEACHING WRITING 探索在写作教学中引入体裁教学法的相关性

Genre has a great impact on how language teaching is understood (Derewianka, 2003). On the one hand, from the perspective of the research aims, this article is intended to offer a brief overview of how genre is understood in linguistics, as well as of several genre-based approaches in applied linguistcs, with special reference to language teaching. On the other hand, from the perspective of teaching aims, this study attempts to investigate the students’ awareness regarding various genres that are relevant for their age group and language proficiency level, prior to explicit genre teaching. The results of this small-scale study have confirmed that genre-based approaches to teaching help raise the students’ awareness of genre features and are conducive to more effective reading, in preparation for purposeful writing.

My presentation aims to analyze the linguistic future and the factors for the development of linguistic situations: demography, transmission, appropriation of languages resulting from colonization, urbanization, state policies, imperial expansion, vehicularity, new technologies. As for a vision of the linguistic situation of the world to come, perhaps, it will be said that no language will impose itself as universal, but all languages will be subdivided. Despite the fact that a liberating babelization may take hold, the influence of a language will no longer depend on the number of its speakers, but on the number and reputation of its masterpieces. We have to look for the keys that allow us to understand the great movements of languages.

Health is a reciprocal term that combines mutual co-existence in the environment with a considerable veneration to all forms of life. Life on earth is a result of some favourable conditions in the environment from the empirical point of view. So, the health of the environment remains the supreme, and thereby life, once created, has to keep up the conditions in order to sustain or survive itself. Thus there has always been a fascinating relation between health and environment since the dawn of creation of life on earth. Among the innumerable forms of life on earth human beings are considered the best since they are gifted with immense possibilities to comprehend, create, nourish, admonish, reject and accept. So, they have to shoulder the responsibility largely to secure the health of the environment which, in other terms, is the health of the varieties of life forms on earth. Through the ages they undertook overwhelming initiatives that surely advertise humanity; and literature, especially Eco-critical, has been the best call to humanity in order to restore health which is, as mentioned earlier, very much reciprocal. Literature upholds and worships the heavenly relation between health and environment, humanity and Nature. It celebrates the reconciliation of man and environment in the name of poetry very often.

EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS IN THE TEACHING-LEARNING PROCESS 在教学过程中的情商和沟通技巧

This article is a theoretical-scientific research of the different conceptual approaches to emotional intelligence and communication skills in the teaching-learning process, carried out mainly in the online environment. Thus, we shall list and describe the key elements of emotional intelligence, highlighting, among others, communication skills. This paper axiomatically acknowledges the importance of emotional intelligence in the process of didactic communication, where many communication barriers can easily occur, and in this sense emotional intelligence plays a fairly important role in achieving communication goals and obtaining feedback appropriate to communicative intent.
本文主要在网络环境下对教学过程中情商和沟通技巧的不同概念方法进行了理论科学研究。因此,我们将列出并描述情商的关键要素,其中突出了沟通技巧。本文明确地承认了情商在教学沟通过程中的重要性,在教学沟通过程中容易出现许多沟通障碍,从这个意义上说,情商在实现沟通目标和获得与沟通意图相适应的反馈方面起着相当重要的作用。

In the last decades of the 21st century, we have witnessed a substantial increasing of the phenomenon of globalisation which transcends geographical boundaries and dramatically affects technology and socio-economical development, and modern translation as well. Despite the fact English has become a world trade lingua franca, the changes made by the advent of globalisation may produce specific cultural linguistic, technological and political outcomes for the field of translation and translators. This paper proposes an attempt to grasp the relevance of globalisation and its fundamental and introspective role in the process of modern translation.
