Mobile applications for traffic safety 交通安全移动应用

This paper describes Centria's research work on improving traffic safety and traffic flow by developing mobile applications to support real-time decision making. Centria has utilized a wide range of mobile device built-in capabilities in the mobile applications it has developed. For example, Wi-Fi has been used for vehicular area networking, 3G/4G/LTE for vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication, and Bluetooth for acquiring OBD2 information. When all these functionalities are connected into one single device with an adaptive dashboard, we have a powerful tool for cognitive infocommunication (CogInfoCom) in the vehicular environment. Fully programmable additional user interfaces can provide two direction communication channels for the driver. Applications can make use of the data gathered from multiple sources and support driving events in an intelligent way through location awareness alerts and notifications. Because they are independent of vehicle technology, web-based HTML applications and mobile phone user interfaces guarantee the potential to reach a vast majority of people driving older cars in traffic. Applications developed by Centria will bring this old car fleet fully into the context of intelligent transport systems (ITS).

Application of cognitive infocommunications in public transport journey planning: Relationship of passenger decisions and online passenger information systems 认知信息通信在公共交通出行规划中的应用:乘客决策与在线乘客信息系统的关系

Cognitive sciences play an important role in public transport journey planning. Passengers have to determine the possible ways to get from one place to another at a specified time and then choose the best one. Their decisions depend on many factors e.g. journey time, walking distances, transfers, waiting times, price of the journey as well as the preferences of the passengers. This paper presents an innovative journey planning system which is able to handle as well as collect data about preferences of different passenger layers. The experiences show that passenger preferences at the beginning of the journey differ from the ones at the middle of the journey which implies that infocommunication applications used for passenger information and journey planning should consider these differences.

Return on ICT investment analysis has become an essential task of finance function at corporations, let it be large multinational giants or small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Besides the cost analysis, the benefit analysis is also a fundamental component of investment profitability calculations and decisions. This study introduces the term of cognitive entity in ICT productivity and investment analysis and focuses on the different approaches of cognitive entities' internal environmental effects.

Overlapping speech, utterance duration and affective content in HHI and HCI - An comparison HHI和HCI的重叠语、话语持续时间和情感内容比较

In human conversation, turn-taking is a critical issue. Especially if only the speech channel is available (e.g. telephone), correct timing as well as affective and verbal signals are required. In cases of failure, overlapping speech may occur which is in the focus of this paper. We investigate the davero corpus a large naturalistic spoken corpus of real call center telephone conversations and compare our findings to results on the well-known SmartKom corpus consisting of human-computer interaction. We first show that overlapping speech occurs in different types of situational settings - extending the well-known categories cooperative and competitive overlaps -, all of which are frequent enough to be analyzed. Furthermore, we present connections between the occurrence of overlapping speech and the length of the previous utterance, and show that overlapping speech occurs at dialog instances where certain affective states are changing. Our results allow the prediction of forthcoming threat of overlapping speech, and hence preventive measures, especially in professional environments like call-centers with human or automatic agents.

Business executives face several challenges in the era of smart factories and Industry 4.0. They would like to benefit from the investments made in widespread digitization and information procession across business fields. However, running the business became very complex full of human-machine interactions that require new management tools and approaches in order to manage more effectively employees belonging to different generations. Getting smart in every field of life and business stems from the multiple connections of smart, cognitive devices. The paper provides an overview of the main management challenges of Industry 4.0 and outlines the concept of Connected Cognitive Entity Management that could effectively support executive decisions making processes.

Verification of the existing model for passing sight distance on single two-lane rural carriageways 验证现有的乡村单双车道行车视线距离模型

In 2012, new rural road design guidelines (RAL) has been released in Germany. They define different types of roads including different principles for passing. On new roads with a high road function level, passing is safeguarded by passing lanes. However, passing lanes cannot be recommended as a standard on each road type. For roads with a lower road function level and on most of the existing rural road network, passing is permitted by using the oncoming traffic lane. The passing sight distance used today is based on a geometrical model which has been the subject of an empirical research in 1986. Because of the change in the vehicle fleet the passing sight distance model needs to be verified and updated. For this purpose, passing maneuvers are recorded by using a drone. The methodology allows capturing the entire passing maneuver including the approach of the opposing traffic. Thereby, the road geometry as well as traffic parameters (average annual daily traffic - AADT, heavy good vehicles - HGV) are considered. Overall, more than 1.100 passing maneuvers have been captured and analyzed. As a research result, recommendations for the required passing sight distance on single two lane rural roads will be given.

The paper identifies the characteristics of the post Y-Generation in relation to information processing and knowledge management in order to support the growing awareness of the digital age and the assumption that socialization and acculturation in the digital era rests on a significant paradigm change in the realm of social cognition. Digital culture is claimed to be acquired by the members of modern societies in a smooth and seamless way the result of which is the permeability between human agents and non-human agents in the contexts of information processing and communicative interaction. The fuzzy borderlines within the digital environment are deemed to result in parallel manner of knowledge management as opposed to the traditionally constituted manner of linear processing. The paper elucidates the process in which traditional cultural narratives get fragmented while the members of the community get profoundly engaged in digital social environments to provide for a cognitive net of augmented virtual realities. The paper draws attention to parallel tendencies in the study of social cognition and points at a direction that necessitates a novel perception of digital culture and digital literacy.

This paper presents an educational software which is applied for cognitive improvement of color aptitude in teaching engineers in Hungary. Our interactive software called VIOLA can support the learning of basics on color theory, putting them into practice, and also provides interactive test questions that can be used to measure the students' skills on color determining and distinguishing. The efficiency of the lessons can be evaluated as well.
