Developing a success model of Research Information Management System for research affiliated institutions 研究附属机构科研信息管理系统的成功模式

Research Information Management System (RIMS) is essential for any research institutes and universities. RIMS should have some effective usability features or success components of its strategic information access and display. The success or failure of the implementation of RIMS is highly dependent on the level of success and user acceptance. The measurement of IS success remains a top concern for researchers, practitioners and managers. Thus, the evaluation of RIMS success is vital. Therefore, the main objective of this paper is to propose a success model of RIMS implementation based on an extensive literature review that shows inter-relationship among IS success factors. Results from the literature review shows that several IS success studies have used and extended DeLone & McLean model in different context such as E-Learning, Learning Management System (LMS), Banking, Project Management, Health Management etc. Prior studies have extended the generic framework of DeLone & McLean model. However, few have extended it to different dimensions such as technological, organization and human perspective. Hence, to fill this gap the proposed model is used to describe the multidimensional factors that influence the success and user acceptance of RIMS. Three important aspects of IS success such as human, organization and technology are studied. Outcomes of this study can be used as a guideline for research institutions' management, RIMS designers and researchers when implementing and using RIMS.

NEARMesh: Network environment aware routing in a Wireless Mesh Network for emergency-response NEARMesh:用于紧急响应的无线网状网络中的网络环境感知路由

Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs) employ hybrid distributed mobile networks with instant deployment and capabilities Such as: self_healing, self_organization and self_configuration. These abilities make WMNs a likely technology for incident communication. An Incident Area Network (IAN) requires a reliable and efficient routing path in an environment, where infrastructure-based communications have been destroyed. Routing awareness plays a significant part in this situation to deliver dynamic disaster facilities. Though, most of the proposed aware routing schemes do not entirely exploit the characteristics of WMNs. In this article, we propose a network environment-aware routing scheme for emergency response (NEARMesh) in WMNs, which employs a network routing information map to select the optimized path, based on cooperative consideration of route awareness information. This scheme is carried out and verified in NCTNus simulator. Imitation outcomes clearly display that the suggested scheme can enhance the network performance by maintaining a high delivery ratio with low latency while reducing the energy ingesting by minimizing network expenses.

The design of a schoolchildren identification and transportation tracking system 设计了一个学龄儿童身份识别与交通跟踪系统

In Malaysia, five million children commute to school daily. There are approximately 40 percent of children use public and private vehicles to school. The busy schedule and hectic working lives of the parent are causing them not able to monitor the safety of their children in commuting to and from school. This project presents the design of a prototype, called KidBus.Tracker that tracks schoolchildren in school vehicles. The design includes the use of global positioning satellite (GPS) tracking as a way to track the school vehicle, while passive radio frequency identification (RFID) technology was used to record the children's presence in the vehicle. The data logged by the hardware would then be extracted and fed to a website in real-time. Parents would be able to monitor the school vehicle's movement while their children are on board through the KidBus.Tracker website.

Entrepreneur's ambidexterity, knowledge brokerage and firm performance: Preliminary findings 企业家的双元性、知识中介与企业绩效:初步研究

An entrepreneur's ambidexterity or ability to simultaneously and synergistically pursue both exploitation and exploration activities has been found as having positive effects on business performance. However, little is known about the antecedents and consequences of ambidexterity in entrepreneurs. This study focuses on the role of social network and environmental dynamism in affecting entrepreneur's ambidexterity. Then, to examine the importance of an ambidextrous entrepreneur, the study hypothesizes its relationship with firm performance. Data were collected from 65 entrepreneurs in the technology sector using a questionnaire survey. Conference, trade fair and exhibition, and customer are the main sources of opportunity recognition perceived by the technology entrepreneurs. The findings reveal that environmental dynamism and social network are significantly related to entrepreneur's ambidexterity, which lead to enhanced firm performance. On the other hand, knowledge brokerage activities are found to have a significant mediating effect on the relationship between ambidexterity and firm performance.

The roles of project stakeholders in EPCM BIM-enabled projects 项目干系人在支持EPCM bim的项目中的角色

As Building Information Modelling (BIM) becomes prominent in the construction industry, many contract protocols have been developed to facilitate the implementation of BIM. However, most of the protocols have been developed to accommodate procurement methods such as the traditional and design and build project delivery system. None of the protocols is developed to facilitate the BIM implementation in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCM) project delivery system, which is one of the common procurement systems in mineral, resources and infrastructure projects. The aim of this paper is to clarify the roles of the project stakeholders in EPCM BIM-enabled projects. A comparative analysis was conducted on the CIOB Complex Projects, CIC BIM Protocol and ConsensusDocs 301 to simulate the roles of EPCM project stakeholders. The study reveals the new roles of EPCM consultants. This review is important as it provides clarity and significant insights for managing project stakeholders involved in EPCM BIM-enabled projects.

Facebook and YouTube addiction: The usage pattern of Malaysian students Facebook和YouTube成瘾:马来西亚学生的使用模式

This paper explores the usage of Facebook and YouTube among Malaysian students and the possibility of internet addiction in order to determine the effect of using social media in their social and academic lives. Data was collected from 667 Facebook users and 1056 YouTube users. Examining Young's [1]Internet addiction scale among the students revealed that 18% of Facebook users and 22% of YouTube users are addicted, and they spend more than two hours on Facebook and YouTube per day. They use Facebook for information, maintain relationships, academic learning, product inquiry, and meeting people, while YouTube is used for entertainment, information, academic learning, and product inquiry. These results create awareness for instructors and academic institution using YouTube videos and Facebook as complementary tools for teaching. They should be aware of the potential for compulsive and addicted users to be distracted from prescribed videos to unrelated materials.

Social media adoption framework for aged care service providers in Australia 澳大利亚养老服务提供商的社交媒体采用框架

The aged care sector has been a late adopter of social media platforms for communicating, collaborating, marketing and creating brand awareness. There is little research that examines the adoption of social media by aged care service providers for these purposes. This paper reviews the status of social media adoption in the Australian aged care industry, to understand in what ways social media can serve older people's needs, and to develop recommendations for aged-care service providers to adopt social media applications to empower older people. Through a review of the literature and interviews with Australian experts, this paper suggests aged care providers use a three-phase framework when adopting social media in the aged care sector. The first phase is to adopt a popular public social media platform such as Facebook followed by Instagram and Twitter. The second phase supports interaction by encouraging posts and feedback by locally hosted member forums. The third phase is the adoption of specialised social applications for closed groups and specific functions. The paper concludes with a discussion on the implications of the framework and proposes directions for future research

Through a review of the literature and interviews with Australian experts, this paper suggests aged care providers use a three-phase framework when adopting social media in the aged care sector. The first phase is to adopt a popular public social media platform such as Facebook followed by Instagram and Twitter. The second phase supports interaction by encouraging posts and feedback by locally hosted member forums. The third phase is the adoption of specialised social applications for closed groups and specific functions. A pilot study: Shuttle bus tracker app for campus users 试点研究:为校园用户提供班车跟踪应用程序

Many institutions of higher learning provide shuttle bus service to students and staff to and from between public pick up point and campus for their convenience. However, such service is not receiving positive feedback as users have to wait without any clue when the bus is going to arrive. Furthermore, the time schedule posted on the University website is often inconsistent. Hence, providing the accurate bus arrival time is important as it can reduce waiting time at bus stops as well as to decide on the travel plan. The proposed shuttle bus tracker app aims to minimize waiting time by incorporating features that allows commuters to know the location of the bus in real-time, to make query about the arrival time of the bus as well as to provide real-time traffic update about the shuttle bus routes. The app calculates the bus arrival time by getting the location of the bus chosen and the bus stop then passing their coordinates to Google's distance matrix Application Programming Interface (API) web service which returns the time to travel from the selected shuttle bus location to the chosen bus stop. The Google Maps Distance Matrix (API) is a service that provides travel distance and time for a matrix of origins and destinations, based on the recommended route between start and end points. In order to achieve the main aim of this study, a pilot test was conducted and test results suggest that the proposed app has achieved its objectives.

Review on the role of social support in health information systems 审查社会支持在卫生信息系统中的作用

Social support is the physical and emotional comfort given to someone in times of need or crisis and it is exceptionally important for maintaining good physical and mental health. Despite the contribution and intelligence of technology, which has led to the availability and offer of various types of social support systems, they are still not widely known to many. These support systems are currently available in many versions such as in tablets and smartphones where many health information systems have been created specifically to accommodate to the necessity of current mobile healthcare consumers. This paper systematically reviews the role of social support provided via health information systems. Related studies found in different databases such as IEEE Xplore, ACM Digital Library, Springer, ScienceDirect, Cambridge University Press, John Wiley and Sons, were picked out for the review. A total of one hundred and forty four studies were evaluated and filtered in line with the objective of this study that is to analyze the types of social support provided and its role in health information systems. Results obtain from the study reveals that social support is a vital component to be incorporated in any novel health information system. The results from this study will be used to create a social support framework that could be useful to the health application developers and healthcare stakeholders in designing a social support based self-care application to manage more effectively specific diseases and medical conditions.

BIM-based sustainable building design process and decision-making 基于bim的可持续建筑设计过程与决策

Sustainability is a major concern in the building industry due to the climate change and depletion of energy sources. Nevertheless, the current process of sustainable building design depends on various disjointed analyses to meet the different required sustainability performances. Building information modeling (BIM) allows for complex buildings being digitally modeled with accurate geometry and information for sustainable design process and decision-making during the early design stages. Therefore, the aim of this study is to integrate BIM with sustainable building design decision-making by considering the tropical climatic contexts in Malaysia. A BIM-based decision-making framework (DMF) was developed based on review on related literature and green building certifications as well as BIM tools evaluation. The proposed DMF supports design decision-making at multiple BIM Level of Development (LOD). Based on the framework, Revit template was developed to extract BIM data for decision-making. The research output deals with the challenges of decision-making in the early building design process by allowing for specific sustainability performance analyses.
