As the growth of digital home application, more and more Customer Premises Equipments (CPEs) will be managed by TR-069 CPE remote management protocol. It is important to monitor the device status and analyze the statistics information of CPEs in a regular interval. A data collection mechanism is to transfer the system information from the CPE to a data collector. The data collector is used to receive and analyze collected data from CPEs. The most popular data collection method, Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) Trap needs to mapping SNMP OID and TR-069 management data model for TR-069 managed CPEs. Broadband Forum specifies bulk data collection of CPE in WT-232 document, a mechanism that supports Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) consumes a large of system resource of data collector to maintain the connections with all of the managed CPEs. In this research, we propose a light-weight periodic data collection mechanism which uses one-way Trap with XDR (eXternal Data Representation) encoding format specified in WT-232, and transferred from the CPE by UDP which is considered as a light-weight transport protocol. We also illustrate the implementation and integration procedure for the proposed data collection and TR-069 mechanism of the managed CPEs. The proposed approach reduces the traffic loading of the data collector for a great quantity of TR-069 managed CPEs with well-defined TR-069 data model parameters. This proposed mechanism has the light-weight advantage compared with SNMP, and eliminates the troublesome matter for mapping SNMP OID and data model of TR-069 managed CPEs.

Recent studies show that intersections account for around 43% of all traffic accidents and enhanced communication between traffic signals and vehicles can possibly lead to a 50% reduction in such accidents. With the advancement of dedicated short range communications (DSRC) technologies such as IEEE 1609 (Wireless Access in Vehicular Environments, WAVE), it has started to bring such communication solutions to reality; however, to cope with inherent complexity at intersections, more factors need to be considered to complete the chosen solutions. In this paper, we propose an advanced driving-assistance system (ADAS) which utilizes a dual-mode communication mechanism to provide data at a greater range than DSRC-only systems, thereby achieving significant performance improvement in Signal Phase and Timing (SPaT) applications. When vehicles approach an intersection, they are individually recommended to travel at a safe speed, which not only increases driving safety, but also results in a smooth traffic flow with lower fuel consumption.

Cloud Service is a major project that CHT currently initiated to promote. It aims to provide services to users anytime and anywhere. To achieve that, we need robust cloud technology. This paper takes FMS (Fraud Management System) as an example to depict the system migration process into the cloud service. We propose solutions to problems we encountered, software licensing issues, and other related issues. With the portable ability supporting by middleware, the underlying cross-brand components can be easily to swap, such as: various brands of web servers, application servers, operating systems, and databases. Our FMS system architecture is fully met the SaaS architecture's requirement.

Energy efficiency of cloud computing attracts a great deal of attention recently more than ever. In this paper, based on the characteristics of virtualized cloud environment and MapReduce workload, an energy efficiency management method called EECLOUD is presented. The method involves two strategies: VM allocation and dynamic VM placement strategies. The VM allocation strategy aims at maximizing an energy utility function making trade-off between job runtime and allocated virtual resources. And the VM placement strategy makes energy-aware scheme to place VMs on servers taking into account both VM duration and resource capacity. Additionally, a dynamic VM-host mapping algorithm is proposed to place VMs to the least amount of physical server, which uses live migration to enhance capacity utilization. The experimental results show that our approach achieves greater energy savings over existing methods.

We exploit helper-to-helper (h-2-h) cooperation using the broadcast nature of wireless sensor networks. The potential helpers overhear the packet from the transmission of previous hop and the helper transmits the packet in the current hop on behalf of the assigned node (sender). We call it friendship relaying cooperative medium access control (FRC-MAC) protocol. This mechanism eliminates the sender transmission phase, improving the energy efficiency and end-2-end delay. Our innovative proposed MAC protocol provides alternate path when a link is poor temporarily, hence no need to find a new path frequently. In this protocol, each node manages a helper queue in additional to its data queue to store cooperative data so that the helper can transmit cooperative data with higher priority than its own data. We performed a simulation study to investigate network performance and compared with existing protocols. We found that FRC-MAC outperforms existing protocols in terms of end-to-end delay and energy efficiency.

ISO/IEC TR 19791 is an international standard that must be used as the basis for the security evaluation of operational systems. This standard has been recently developed, and the first version was made available in May 2006. ISO/IEC TR 19791 is intended to be an extension of ISO/IEC 15408, known as “Common Criteria” (CC). In order to evaluate an IT product or system using CC or ISO/IEC TR 19791, developers must create a Security Target (ST), or a System Security Target (SST). However, a problem encountered in creating these is the determination of the Security Problem Definitions (SPDs), because the SPDs fall outside of the scope of CC. Neither ISO/IEC 15408 nor ISO/IEC TR 19791 provides a framework for risk analysis or the specification of threats. In this paper, we propose a threat model based on multiple international standards and evaluated ST information, and describe a Web application that can be used for security specifications in the production of STs and SSTs which are to be evaluated by CC and ISO/IEC TR 19791, respectively.

3GPP defines the Policy and Charging Control (PCC) architecture to enforce network resources dynamically and to manage charging functions. In this paper, we present the design and implementation of Group Accounting System (GAS). GAS is based on the PCC architecture and is integrated with the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) of Chunghwa Telecom. GAS allows a group of people to share one or more accounts. Through a Java web-based graphical interface furnished by the GAS, the administrator can manage accounts and develop charging rules. When the group members purchase a product, the Online Charging System (OCS) will deduct the amount from users account managed by PCC according to dynamic PCC rules. Finally, the corresponding performance metrics (e.g., the signaling delays) can be obtained through the GAS.

The Smart Grid has been defined as integrated network to converge an existing power grid with an information and communication infrastructure. It has caused the dynamic change and new business contexts in the utility infrastructure, especially in a demand side. The conventional energy customers have extended their role as the energy prosumer who can generate distributed electricity with renewable energy resources and make profits from trading the energy to Power Exchange Market. It can be realized comfortably with a customer energy management system, which offers some functionalities dedicated to the Smart Grid services. The success of the Smart Grid depends on the interoperability to make flexible power infrastructure, efficient controlling system, network integration, and business models to motivate energy prosumers. KT would like to suggest Open Service Platform to commence a new business domain in the customer side and offer new business opportunities in Smart Grid. In this paper, the customer energy management system will be presented and KT's Open Service platform in Smart Grid will be proposed.
