This study aimed to determine and explain the efforts to keep children in Indonesia active during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research method used was a descriptive quantitative method. A total of 109 Early. The sample data used for this study were obtained via purposive sampling, where the data was under the criteria. The children participated in the challenge of doing physical activities at home during the pandemic. Regarding vulnerability, early childhood ages who took part in this challenge competition were 2–7 years old. In this study, the element of assessment was the fundamental movement skills of the children. The assessment instrument was a modified Peabody Developmental Motor Scale so that children could do it at home, and it included the items of balance, running, walking, hopping, jumping forward, crawling, throwing and catching objects with scores of 0– 2. From the tests carried out, the reliability obtained using Cronbach's Alpha was 0.84. The results were excellent with consistent reliability. Furthermore, this study also assessed projects made by the family, namely by exercising with the family and using assessment points of family bonds, performance, and creativity carried out, such as using video packaging, uniform costumes and music. Efforts to keep children active during this pandemic have not been easy;this was observed from the number of participants who took part in the challenge although the dissemination of information was carried out for 1 month using mainstream mass media. This was also caused by the obstacles and difficulties that parents have experienced during this pandemic. For this reason, it is necessary to make even more strategic efforts at achieving the desired goals. The basic movement project with movement instructions from this modified Peabody development test can be applied to children during the pandemic because its implementation can be adapted to the conditions in the respective homes of children. © JPES.
©JPES。

The current global COVID-19 Pandemic has generated extensive sociopolitical changes among the entire world community. Although restrictions differ from country to country and are not enforced simultaneously, some regulations are mandatory worldwide, i.e., home confinement, closure of cultural and social events, remote work, online schooling, restricted movement, social distancing, or restricted Physical Activity (PA). In contrast, it is believed that one who does not routinely perform physical activity and daily exercises will fall ill. If exposed to COVID-19, they may suffer more severe. During the social distancing, several studies examined the limitations of daily physical and sport activities due to physical and social restrictions at all ages and conditions. However, no articles had summarized daily physical activity and exercises across ages and countries. Therefore, this study answered this gap and aimed to explore the policy of physical and social limitations related to physical activity and daily sports. It employed a systematic literature review method subjecting 21 selected articles published in 2020 and 2021 with the authors' inclusion criteria such as the articles containing the results of quantitative, qualitative research, mixed methods, or Meta-Analysis methods. The articles selected and summarized were related to physical activities and sports at various ages, including children, adolescents, young adults, and elderly across countries in specific populations in regard with health protocols when doing daily exercises. This study concluded that daily physical and sport activities must be carried out and prioritized to maintain health despite of being restricted due to the COVID-19 Pandemic as long as people comply with health protocols. © JPES.
©JPES。

The Covid-19 pandemic has brought many changes to athletes' habits, such as being at home more often, overeating and reduced physical activity that may increase the risk of increased BMI in Rugby athletes during the pandemic. This may have a major impact on athlete's performance. Nutrition education interventions carried out during a pandemic must also change. Education that is usually done using the offline method must now also be modified into nutrition education using the online method. Nutrition education has been proven to increase knowledge and body mass index in athletes, but no one has compared body mass index from online and offline nutrition education. The aim of this study was to compare the body mass index of Rugby athletes in offline and online nutrition education. The author conducted offline nutrition educations in March 2019, and online nutrition educations in December 2020. After the end of the nutrition educations, the body mass index of Rugby athletes were measured. From 30 Rugby athletes, there were 23 athletes who took part in both nutrition education activities, so the data of these 23 athletes were used in this study. The data were analyzed using General Linear Model Repeated Measures. The result showed significant differences between body mass index of Rugby athletes after offline nutrition educations 24.78 ±2.78, to body mass index after online nutrition educations 25.73±2.24. This study showed that offline nutrition educations were significantly better than online nutrition educations (F=5.147, p<0.05). Our findings indicate that nutrition education methods are important to affect body mass index in athletes. It implies that the sport nutrition team should consider to prioritize the athletes with nutrition educations using the offline methods. Hence, further research needs to be carried out to examine athletes' level of knowledge, training patterns and nutrition intake of athletes before and during the pandemic. © JPES.
©JPES。

Introduction: Physical education (PE) it is the only school subject that focuses on the overall development of students’ psychomotor skills and mental hygiene and has a profound effect on designing daily movement routines and habits. The COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent restrictions have caused the largest disruption of education in history and have already had an impact on learners and teachers around the world. It was inevitable that schools had to transfer the way of teaching to online environment. However, the ability to respond to school closures and the extent to which schools have accepted the irreplaceability of this subject was very individual. Methods: This study analyses the current situation of distance learning in the subject of PE in the second stage of primary education in Slovakia from the student’s perspective. Objective: The participating students have been educated online since November 2020. The authors designed a simple questionnaire for this age group to determine the most common forms of online PE instruction and examine the students’ thoughts on such teaching. The survey sample comprised 1155 students from 5th to 9th grade who were 10–15 years old. The data were collected in February 2021. Results: The survey data analysis revealed that individual primary schools employed various teaching forms and methods. Many schools did not provide any PE classes (53.4%), and some students did not participate in any physical activity of their own accord (23.3%). Other schools replaced standard PE classes with theoretical lessons (21.23%). Only a small number of schools provided two PE classes per week in line with the framework curriculum. Practical PE classes were often limited to sending prepared videos (67.8%) without any follow-up reports from the students. Only 11.2% of the teachers actively participated in their classes and exercised in front of the camera, and 11% of them requested their students to do the same. Students reported that their parents or PE teachers were the primary motivators for their engagement in physical activity during the pandemic. Conclusions: Schools in Slovakia have not been able to fully transfer PE classes to the online environment. © JPES.
©JPES。

Aim. The purpose of the study is to prevent the adverse effect of the self-isolation regime caused by COVID-19 by attending remote physical education classes with students of III-IV health groups. Materials and methods. The study involved 38 first-year female students aged 18.1 ± 0.3 years (South Ural State University). The experiment was conducted remotely and lasted three months. A methodology for remote physical education and health improvement classes was developed and justified. This methodology consists of modern programs of physical therapy (exercise therapy) and fitness and also includes emotional and muscle relaxation (EMR) techniques and ideomotor movements (according to M. Sandomirsky, 1995). The individual minute test and tapping test were used for assessing signs of maladaptation. The assessment of psycho-emotional state was carried out using the integrative anxiety test (IAT) by A. Bizyuk, L. Wasserman, B. Iovlev. Results. Desynchronosis associated by an accelerated subjective perception of time, low functional mobility of nervous processes with a dominant below average and average to below average working capacity, as well as high anxiety, both personal and situational, were identified during the study. Our methodology of physical education and health improvement classes contributes to the development of stable adaptation processes and reliably (p <0.05) brings the disturbed biorhythms of female students to their physiological norm. The use of this methodology allows successfully overcoming mental maladjustment, reducing the level of situational anxiety, stabilizing the functional state of the central nervous system, improving working capacity and increasing the strength of nervous processes. Conclusion. The results obtained indicate the importance of physical activity adequate to the functional state of students for the prevention of maladaptive disorders in conditions of self-isolation. © JPES.
心理情绪状态评估采用A.Bizyuk、L.Wasserman、B.Iovlev的综合焦虑测试(IAT)。 ©JPES。

Problem Statement: A newly discovered infectious disease, known as COVID-19, has spread across the world with alarming speed. This resulted in shifting from face-to-face to online instruction and provoking stress and anxiety for many physical education teachers. Purpose: Grounded in transformative learning theory, we examined physical education teachers’ perceptions and experiences online teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: The participants in the present study consisted of four male and four female teachers who were all certified in teaching PE from several different regions of the United States. A semi-structured interview was employed. Five participants teach at the public elementary school and three participants teach at the public middle school. The following questions guided this study: (a) what are the perceptions of physical education teachers when they are requested online teaching?;(b) what are the experiences of physical education teachers when transitioning from face-to-face physical education to online teaching? and;(c) Did your perspectives change after online teaching? The data were analyzed by open, axial, and selective coding. Problem statement: The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has changed global engagement with sports and physical activity and caused significant changes in exercise and sports practices due to reduced interpersonal contact and closure of sports facilities. Purpose: This study investigates how the physical activity, exercise, and lifestyles of Japanese physical education students, deeply involved in sports, changed due to the school closures and curfews associated with COVID-19. Methods: The sample consisted of 74 Japanese male and female students. Changes in sleep duration, self-assessed subjective exercise intensity, and fatigue levels were assessed by dividing the study period into three phases: April to June 2020 (participants voluntarily restricted their movements), July to September 2020 (return to normal activity levels), and October to December 2020 (three months following the initial return to normal activity levels). Participants used Google Forms to record their sleeping hours, perceived exertion rating, and fatigue daily during the study period, and the results were compared to those obtained via a questionnaire that they completed assessing these variables during the same period of the previous year. Results: We found that school closures caused: 1) a decrease in opportunities to engage in exercise such as club activities, which resulted in a reduction in the amount of physical activity performed owing to the difficulty of performing light exercise at home, and 2) a significant change in lifestyle habits such as an increase in time spent asleep and a decrease in the level of fatigue. Conclusions: Overall, school closures reduced opportunities for exercise and physical activity and led to significant changes in lifestyle habits among physical education students. Attempts should be made to provide opportunities for exercise and to discover ways to provide exercise-related instruction while ensuring that the spread of infection is curbed. © JPES.
©jp。

Fibromyalgia is a chronic and multifactorial disease, characterized by the presence of generalized pain that negatively influences the health-related quality of life of the affected person. Despite the severity and disabling effects that this disease causes in most cases, the physical and psychological symptoms can be alleviated through adequate physical fitness, with water-based exercise being one of the most recommended approaches for fibromyalgia patients. The objective of this case report was to verify the suitability and feasibility of a multicomponent aquatic training program carried out in a high temperature spa pool for a woman with fibromyalgia. For this purpose, a complete physical and psychological analysis in this patient with a history of lack of compliance and tolerance of physical activity is presented as a case report. A 62 year-old woman with fibromyalgia participated in 6-week program of strength, core, aerobic, and flexibility training developed in the aquatic environment, with analyses performed before and after intervention, where physical and psychological parameters were evaluated. The percentage of improvement showed an enhancement in all physical and psychological factors, with some test results over the reference values of minimal detectable change and minimal clinically significant difference for fibromyalgia patients and women of similar age. The presented case report provides a comprehensive examination of the physical and psychological status of a woman with fibromyalgia, prior to and proceeding a non-pharmacological intervention based on a multicomponent water-based training program. Results highlighted that a 6-week programme of water-based exercise program in a spa pool was suitable for reaching an enhancement in different physical and psychological parameters in this fibromyalgia patient, with her history of poor compliance and tolerance to conventional physical activity. If future studies with more sample size confirm our results, this approach could result interesting for fibromyalgia patients with low adherence and tolerance to land based training.

The present study aims to investigate the effects of live online exercise programmes, being conducted in Germany during the lockdown period of the COVID-19 pandemic, on the performance levels of elderly adults. The live online exercise programme was conducted in 12 groups at different hours during the specified period. The study involved a total of 534 individuals, 183 (99 females and 84 males) in the experiment group and 171 (94 females and 77 males) in the control group, aged 60–89. The 60-minute live online exercise programme was conducted once every week for 20 weeks, and a Senior Fitness Test consisting six different parameters was used for measuring the muscle force, aerobic endurance, and dynamic balance skills. The pretest and posttest were used for evaluating and comparing the improvements in the physical performance. It was determined that the exercise programme positively affected the lower body strength, upper body strength, flexibility, and agility/dynamic balance skills of elderly adults. It was also observed that the performance decreased with advancing age, especially after the age of 70. Moreover, men were found to be stronger, more durable, and faster than women, while women were observed to be more flexible than men. The results provide important information regarding the physical performance assessments of elderly adults and suggest that advancing age has a negative impact on physical performance. Therefore, the integration of live online exercise programmes into their lives during the COVID-19 pandemic, which is expected to last a long time, may positively affect the physical performance of elderly adults. © 2021, Editura Universitatii din Pitesti. The study was aimed at identifying the structure of relationships between the psychological and morphological state of overweight and obese women under conditions of quarantine restrictions related to COVID-19 pandemic. The following methods were used: anthropometric, to determine the body measurements;bioimpedance analysis, to assess the body composition;physiological, to study the cardiovascular and respiratory systems;psychological, to examine the psycho-emotional sphere;statistical analysis, to objectify the obtained results. The article presents a comparative analysis of the morpho-functional and psychological state of women aged 35-42 years over the seven months of quarantine restrictions caused by the spread of COVID-19. Analysis of the data revealed significant negative changes in the indicators of physique and psychological state of women over this period. In women, body weight increased on average by 10.2% (p<0.05), and waist and abdomen circumferences increased by 9.9% (p<0.05) and 12.5% (p<0.05), respectively. A lack of regular physical activity was one of the factors increasing the fat mass by 22.7% (p<0.05) and decreasing the muscle mass by 23.9% (p<0.05). In women, the zest for life decreased by 37.0% (p<0.05) and the congruence between desired and achieved goals decreased by 64.6% (p<0.05). The overall psychological state of women deteriorated by 39.4% (p<0.05) and began to indicate a high level of emotional stress, low emotional stability, high level of anxiety, and psychological discomfort. Correlation analysis revealed high negative correlations between psychological and morphological indicators, which ranged from r=-0.321 (at p<0.05) to r=-0.683 (at p<0.001). The findings of this study suggest that a sedentary lifestyle and low level of physical activity over the quarantine restrictions period had a negative impact on the morpho-functional state and quality of life of women. The fear of COVID-19 infection caused women to become depressed and anxious;whereas uncertainty about the future threatened the mental state of the subjects. © JPES.
©jp。
