Brain tumor DWIs: Comparing the results of manual and computer-based evaluation 脑肿瘤DWIs:人工和计算机评估结果的比较

The article is focused on the segmentation of pathology in brain tissue derived from diffusion weighted images. The authors describe two approaches of segmentation. The first approach is based on support vector machine classification and the second on manual segmentation. Segmentation was performed on four types of images that have been derived from calculation of ADC (apparent diffusion coefficient) map (Trace, Fraction Anisotropy, Volume Ratio, and Mean of All B0s). Segmented data was analyzed statistically to compare two researched approaches of segmentation. Additionally, the article investigates the most valuable type of processed images for detection and classification of pathologic tissue — tumor.

Optimization of magnetic actuators using competition over resources algorithm 基于资源竞争算法的磁致动器优化

Over the last few years, the field of global optimization has been very active producing a wide range of optimization algorithms, particularly in the field of metaheuristics. Nowadays, metaheuristics are extensively used to solve optimization problems in all fields due to their simplicity and competitive performance. Competition Over Resource (COR) is a novel metaheuristic algorithm inspired by a natural phenomenon that is based on the competitive behavior of animal groups. In this paper, the COR algorithm is presented and then applied to optimize a magnetic actuator benchmark. The results obtained in the paper indicate that the COR algorithm is very competitive and therefore offers a reliable alternative method for the optimal design of magnetic actuators.

Heterogeneously integrated III-V-on-silicon microspiral disk lasers for optical interconnects 用于光互连的异质集成iii - v -on-硅微螺旋盘激光器

Electrically pumped and directly modulated microlasers comprising a III-V semiconductor multi-quantum well (MQW) heterogeneously integrated on a silicon photonic chip are potentially a key building block for datacenter optical interconnects. We adopt a microspiral disk cavity in the silicon photonic layer, with a seamlessly coupled silicon waveguide at the microspiral notch, for unidirectional laser output-coupling characteristics. We integrate a ring-shaped electrode on top of the III-V gain layer in order to preferentially inject into a group of whispering-gallery-like modes for improved energy efficiency and mode selection. In this paper, we report multi-mode lasing under both pulsed and continuous injection at room temperature. The threshold current density is typically a few kA/cm2.

Using a multiscale toroidal element to model a hydrogen atom 用多尺度环面元素来模拟氢原子

The paper discusses a numerical model to facilitate more accurate analysis of electro-hydro-dynamic processes at the level of atoms and NANO-EMS structures. In the relevant procedures, a hydrogen atom is used to test the properties of the given model based on a toroidal element Exploiting previous examinations of graphene structures [1] and utilizing traditional modeling techniques, the authors employ diverse analyses of relevant limiting parameters to propose a structural analysis that could allow the evaluation of the numerical models of the hydrogen atom examined. A simple example is used to demonstrate the properties of the given approach to the current multiscale modeling of structures of matter.

Beam synthesis and target detection based on aperture coding metasurface 基于孔径编码超表面的波束合成与目标检测

The coding-controlled phased array radar built the bridge between digital codes and physically metamaterial particle, which works in microwave frequency band. The links and differences will be discussed between this new radar and traditional phased array radar, then the mathematical theory illustrates how the direction (including elevation and azimuth) is controlled by coding combination. Metasurface antenna can also achieve good performance of target detection based on beam-scanning. This is proved by the simulation in the situation of single point target where the distance, azimuth and elevation are detected by impulse compression operation. Furthermore, the moving target tracking is also realized by metasurface antenna, assuming that the radial velocity and the angular velocity of the target follow the normal distribution of known mean and variance.

RF circuits commutator for EMC laboratories EMC实验室用射频电路换向器

Disadvantages and advantages of classical solutions for RF circuits commutator used in EMC laboratories equipped with anechoic chambers were presented in the article. An innovative solution of RF circuits commutator, which is dedicated for use in anechoic chambers was proposed. It is characterised with no disadvantages typical for classical solutions accessible on the market (e.g., OSP-130 commutator) resulting from placing executing (RF switches) as well as control circuits for them in one enclosure. There, in the article, the block diagram of the solution proposed was presented. Also, the results of the anechoic chamber shielding efficiency measurements were shown in the article for the location where coaxial cables penetrations are installed and connected to particular outputs of measurement sensors using the proposed solution of the RF circuits commutator. The results of comparative analysis were shown, too, for shielding efficiency of the anechoic chamber using the proposed solution as well as classical solutions of RF commutators.

Study of single layer Radar Absorber Material (RAM) based on coconut shell activated carbon 椰壳活性炭单层雷达吸波材料的研究

A study of single layer Radar Absorber Material (RAM) based on coconut shell activated carbon is presented in this work. Coconut shell is resulting waste of coconut milk industry that has high carbon content. This study aims to determine the maximum absorption of coconut shell activated carbon as well as the activation effect on coconut shell carbon. The carbon was prepared using carbonization and activated using KOH and HCl. These process aims to open the pores of carbon, so the absorbance of the active carbon is increased. The Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Vector Network Analysis (VNA) are operated in active carbon characterization. The electromagnetic properties of these RAMs were analyzed using the waveguide technique in the frequency range of 4 to 8GHz (C-Band). The VNA result showed maximum absorption of −19.5dB at thickness of 6mm with 1M HCl activator. The SEM images show the activated carbon has more pore than non-activated carbon. The single-layer RAMs exhibited behavior of satisfy absorbers in the frequency range studied. The result shows the reflectivity response of the carbon is satisfied as RAM in the investigating frequency.

Hermite-Gaussian correlated Schell-model pulsed beam 厄米-高斯相关谢尔模型脉冲光束

Enlighted by the partially coherent beam with nonconventional correlation functions in spatial domain, we introduced a new model of partially coherent light pulse called a Hermite-Gaussian correlated Schell-model (HGCSM) pulse in temporal domain. The analytical expression of the mutual coherence function of the HGCSM pulse propagating in a second-order dispersive media has been derived. The statistical properties, such as the intensity distribution and the temporal degree of coherence the spectral degree of coherence of a HGCSM pulse in dispersive media are illustrated numerically. It is demonstrated that the velocity of beam splitting can be manipulated by controlling the incident pulse duration, the initial temporal coherence length, the beam order m and the dispersion of the medium. It is also shown that the oscillations in the temporal degree of coherence profiles gradually intensify with increasing pulse duration of the incident pulse and beam order. With increasing second-order dispersion coefficient β2 and temporal coherence length of the incident pulse, the profiles of the temporal degree of coherence move towards the large value.

Cai","doi":"10.1109/PIERS-FALL.2017.8293170","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/PIERS-FALL.2017.8293170","url":null,"abstract":"Enlighted by the partially coherent beam with nonconventional correlation functions in spatial domain, we introduced a new model of partially coherent light pulse called a Hermite-Gaussian correlated Schell-model (HGCSM) pulse in temporal domain. The analytical expression of the mutual coherence function of the HGCSM pulse propagating in a second-order dispersive media has been derived. The statistical properties, such as the intensity distribution and the temporal degree of coherence the spectral degree of coherence of a HGCSM pulse in dispersive media are illustrated numerically. It is demonstrated that the velocity of beam splitting can be manipulated by controlling the incident pulse duration, the initial temporal coherence length, the beam order m and the dispersion of the medium. It is also shown that the oscillations in the temporal degree of coherence profiles gradually intensify with increasing pulse duration of the incident pulse and beam order. Formation of phase vortices by means of holograms with asymmetric pattern 非对称全息图相涡的形成

The paper presents an experimental study of the application of thin holograms with increased (due to the use of a triangular pattern profile) diffraction efficiency for the formation of light beams with non-zero orbital moments (phase vortices). It is shown that in this case efficiency can be increased substantially (in theory — up to 100%). Transformation is done without any distortion of the formed beam.

Long range wireless power transfer via magnetic resonance 远距离无线电力传输通过磁共振

This work presents an end-to-end highly efficient solution for wireless charging electronic devices at a distance of 0.5 meters. It is achieved by Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) that aims to solve the problem where people would not be reliant on sitting near a power socket to charge their electronic devices. Instead, they would be able to charge them wirelessly. Moreover, the need of cost-effective end-to-end long-range WPT in a single package is emerging. Here, we propose design considerations for a cost-effective and power ã 70% efficient end-to-end system for a long-range WPT system via magnetic resonance (MR). The design with the optimal TE was opted and tested for different transmission distances, frequencies, and load types. We also discuss different factors affecting the TE and the power delivered to the load using simulation tools and back them with experimental results.
