In recent years, Grid technology is a new network computing and resources organization technology developed on the basis of network and information technology. Grid technology is widely used in many fields for its characteristics of sharing and collaboration. Grid supported collaborative design platform combines Grid technology and distributed collaborative design technology. It solves the issues of resource sharing, computing and remote collaborative ability faced by present collaborative design system. In this paper, based on the Open Grid Services Architecture (OGSA), a Grid supported product collaborative design model is proposed. By using the Globus Grid middleware, a Grid supported collaborative design platform is implemented and a Grid portal of the platform is designed.

In this paper, we introduced a new matching method based on logic-centered paragraphs. This method is built on the concept dictionary, in this method, the paragraphs which have the same meaning will be clustered by analyzing the logical concept of the text to be classified, and establish the logical paragraphs on the basis of the division method of logical levels. Then put the text to be classified in the right classification, which considered the contribution to the theme of different paragraphs in the text. At the same time, in order to solve problem of synonyms and polysemy in the texts to be classified, we introduced the expansion of the synonyms concept and related words. Experimental results show that this method can improve the effectiveness of classification, and a higher accuracy rate can be obtained in content flitting.

Workflow management becomes more and more important along with the development of medical technique. Traditional medical information system cannot keep up with the ever-changing demands. The existing widely used workflow management system can not be applied to medical environment because of the complex features of medical information system. In this paper, a workflow-based medical information system architecture is proposed to resolve those problems. The architecture takes open source workflow management system- YAWL as the start point. In the architecture, the medical workflow is defined, implemented, executed and optimized in the medical workflow bus. The applications and heterogeneous legacy information systems are hanged on, as well as activated and managed by the bus. Through this way, the medical workflow problem is resolved and the process-driven data communication, heterogeneous legacy systems integration are realized.

Basing on analyzing property of the traditional Electro-Acupuncture (EA) and the exiting problem in clinical and experience, and the characteristic of traditional acupuncture therapeutics, we bring forward the conception of “single acupoint Electro- Acupuncture”(SAEA) and “Single-Acupoint Electro- Acupuncture therapeutics”(SAEAT), design the draft of single acupoint Electro-Acupuncture and work out its therapeutics, emphasize the significancy to set up the new electro-acupuncture therapeutics-SAEAT which embodies the traditional acupuncture feature (single acupoint stimulus).

This paper reviews the research conducted in the Design Technology Research Centre in the School of Design of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Several major approaches to computational design are reviewed and analyzed. Based on the review and critical analysis of the results achieved so far, a more design oriented approach is proposed for the continuation of the research in this direction and the development of more effective tools supporting designers in collaborative environments.

As Dynamic System Oriented Model Based Programming (DSO-MBP) platforms, such as Simulink, becomes more and more popular, more and more students desire to learn such kind of programming. However, college students in computer science or related disciplines cultivated with traditional textbased programming, such as structured, procedural and OOP, find it frustrating to learn DSO-MBP. Our experience exhibited that it is the distinct programming paradigm of DSO-MBP that causes the trouble. This paper reports our understanding on elements of DSO-MBP paradigm, including model based, block supported, GUI interfaced, Subsystem organized, time-variant signal driven, new parameter passing, call-back functioning, and more accessible look and feel. We point out their differences and similarities with respect to traditional programming paradigm elements. We hope our contribution can help newcomers easily switch from traditional programming paradigms to the DSO-MBP paradigm and learn DSO-MBP effectively.

There are increasing hordes of education information systems built for domain-specific education applications across the internet and intranets. However, the utility efficiency of these distributed education resources is low. To improve interoperability, resource reusability and education system integration, this paper presented SSOA-E, a Semantic Service Oriented Architecture for Education Information System Integration. SSOA-E includes four layers: education resource layer, semantic service layer, education application layer, and user interface layer. Based on SSOA-E, an application of education system integration is given. Application results show that SSOA-E can make distributed education applications integrated at semantic level and achieve more effective utility of education resources.

XML query technology has attracted more and more attention in data management research community. Finding all the occurrences of a twig pattern in an XML database is a core operation for XML queries. The previous approaches produce large set of intermediate results when they processing queries with parent-child relationship edges. We propose a new labeling scheme, called extended region encoding labeling scheme. From the label of an element, we can obtain all distinct tag names of its children. Based on this new labeling scheme, we design a holistic twig join algorithm TwigStackBE. Our main technique is before processing twig query we firstly check whether an element would contribute to the final solutions. So the set of intermediate results in twig pattern matching can be much smaller than previous algorithms. The experimental results indicate that the proposed algorithm performs better than the previous.

In order to show key operating process of Windows OS visually, a method is proposed according to several entities' state information collected from the Windows operating process to make the kernel activities visual. We have realized the visualization of CPU, thread, process, queues of thread and process, clock, and several exterior hardwares and reconstructed the thread scheduling process. The data used in visualization is sampled during the practical running process of Windows system. This is a good approach to comprehend and analyze the Windows operating process and scheduling algorithm.
