The poverty and environmental degradation are very serious in karst regions of southwest China. In this paper, the spatial distributions and variations of oxygen regulation values (ORVs) were evaluated for the typical karst areas in Northwest Guangxi, China from 1985 to 2005, based on remote sensing and geographic information system techniques. The results showed that ORVs decreased firstly and then increased. ORVs were 9170 million Yuan in 1985, 5831 million Yuan in 1990, 7802 million Yuan in 2000 and 8793 million Yuan in 2005, respectively. Woodland and shrub were the two largest contributors to total ORVs (70.51% in 1985, 69.13% in 1990, 73.35% in 2000 and 66.23% in 2005). ORVs declined from west to east, and in creased from 4338 million Yuan in 1985 to 4780 million Yuan in 2005 in the typical karst areas. This indicates that ecosystem conditions are improving because of the application of rocky desertification control policies.

Topic map is one of the hottest areas in information retrieval field in that it enables a user to navigate and access the documents he needs in an organized manner, rather than browsing through hyperlinks that are generally unstructured and often misleading. This paper proposes a new framework for information retrieval. Through actions of registry, discovery and access in grid information service discovery process, a grid space manager will find out the suitable services. And grid agent should remember the success and quality of the former cases by knowledge element mining and topic map building and reasoning, therefore the agent can gain experience of user's preference. We also detail the methods through which we can mine knowledge elements from web page resources' and to build extended topic maps including a new knowledge elements level.

This paper presents a novel tutoring system. A multi-agent system architecture offers a promising framework for dynamically managing teaching agents in a distributed environment which uses computational approach to producing 3D images for Computational Intelligence (CI) course teaching. One teaching example is introduced for showing the advantage of the system. It uses complex function expressions as genetic coding to form a binary tree, and all genetic operations are performed on the binary tree. Corresponding complex functions are processed by software MATLAB to form 3D images. From this example, students can learn the tree based genetic algorithm and its application in 3D images generation easily.

In this paper, we proposed a new data clustering method MATS that was inspired by animals, for example, the dog or the ant, which use scent to mark out their turf. MATS can automatically find clusters, depending on a few parameters that are not directly related to the data set. In addition, there are some existence technique was also utilized in our method, such as the density concept and cluster validity index (DB-index). The experiment results verified that MATS is able to discover clusters with varying shapes and is effective when applied to image segmentation.

Typical SOA platform orchestrates services centrally, through pre-defined processes, assuming that what should have already been triggered is defined in a process. Thus complex events should trigger a set of services is not accounted for in traditional SOA architecture. Event-driven SOA lets users monitor, analyze, and enrich events to make the connections among disparate events that do not at first appear to be intuitively obvious. This makes these enriched events visible to others, and also allows the event-driven SOA system to possibly automate actions to take to address some unique pattern. In this paper, we are proposing a novel approach based on event-driven SOA to re-construct traditional monitor and control system that utilizes the concept of service orientation to give flexibility, and provides a powerful solution to realize effective and adaptive service creation, deployment and service management. Furthermore, we also present and implement a high reliable monitor and control system for coal mining based on event-driven SOA to show the effectiveness and feasibility of event-driven SOA.

In light of the needs of interactive and personalized learning of information retrieval program, this paper designs a Web-based teaching system for information retrieval program, which consists of four subsystems: the teacher management subsystem, student learning subsystem, network class subsystem, and examination and assessment subsystem. Then, it introduces the web-based teaching process of information retrieval program as well as the contents and functions of navigation module of Internet information resources. Finally, it demonstrates the functions of the system through case study.

Signal and System is one of the most important courses in electrical and electronics engineering curricula. However, the performance of traditional teaching approach is not satisfied in practice. This paper firstly introduces how to integrate the MATLAB simulation application into the teaching in class, then discusses how to implement simulation lab with MATLAB online. Some examples are given in detail. Finally, the effect of MATLAB application in Signal and System course is summed up.

Born-digital cultural heritage faces the challenge of vanishing away rapidly. In this paper, the issues surrounding the preservation of born-digital cultural heritage are described and explored, and preservation strategies for born-digital cultural heritage are recommended based on the UNESCO's Charter for the Preservation of Digital Heritage. The authors believe that a major focus of digital preservation efforts should be the preservation of born-digital heritage materials.

We fetch facial digital vision information from 98 healthy persons using digital camera. With functional help of NIKON CAPTURE NX's software point U key technology, we catch black, white and neutral color control points. We correct the color differences of facial digital vision with self-improved facial functional software. According to the principle of Adaboost objective category, we improve the software. Under Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), facial information was cut into 5 divisions which are forehead, nose, left malar, right malar and chin. We do the CIE1976L*a*b* color quantity analysis using after we take 8 color pieces with size 5*5 from each part. The experiment result shows that there are differences of value of L*, a* and b* from different part of healthy persons face. That means there are color differences from different part of face. With the figures of L*, a* and b* from different face part, it generally follows the TCM clinic fact. This task technologically found the patients facial inspection in future.

Based on system dynamics theory and multi-agent technology, this paper creates an evaluation model of educational environment. Firstly we create student model and environment model with formal language, and then we discuss factors in educational environment and their relations and get some formulas to calculate education status of a student. At the end of this paper, we give the simulation results. The results show that the model has the ability to simulate the rules and laws of real educational environment. And the research has an important practical significance to improve the quality of education and adjust the national education policy.
