An ad hoc network is a collection of computers (nodes)that cooperate to forward packets for each other over a multihop wireless network. Users of such networks may wish to use demanding applications such as Voice over IP, videoconferencing, and streaming media when they are connected through an ad hoc network. Because over provisioning, a common technique in wired networks, is often impractical in wireless networks for reasons such as power, cost, and government regulation, Quality of Service (QoS) routing is even more important in wireless networks than in wired networks. Though a number of QoS-routing protocols have been proposed for use in ad hoc networks, security of such protocols has not been considered. Here in this paper we consider about securing the Distance vector protocol. For securing distance vector protocols, our hash tree chain mechanism forces a router to increase the distance (metric) when forwarding a routing table entry. To provide authentication of a received routing update in bounded time, we present a new mechanism, similar to hash chains, that we call tree- authenticated one-way chains.

This paper presents the application of DC-DC converter for supplying DC load from the standalone wind turbine. Output obtained from the induction generator is not constant due to variation in the wind speed. To maintain the constant voltage at the output step up converter and sliding mode based step down converter is used.

The quiet waters of electromagnetism have been converted into waves by the arrival of winds from metamaterials (MM). They have appeared as a new expression in the theory of classical electromagnetics. In addition many electrical and electronics engineers have pointed out that almost all new applications arising from metamaterial concepts can be understood by using more conventional approaches, that is, without the need to invoke these metamaterial concepts. So, what is new in metamaterials? This paper introduces this new class of materials in brief; however the main objective of this paper is to discuss the applications of metamaterial at microwave frequencies. This is because these materials have opened new dimensions for rapid designing systems and sophisticated fabrication techniques even beyond microwave frequencies.

Modern power system is a complex network. Rapid industrialization and signing of MOU between countries for purchasing and selling of electrical power due to globalization even made the network more complex. The stability of power system becomes a more critical challenge. This work is an effort to provide quality power to the consumers efficiently by using Robust Coordinated AVR-PSS (RCAP) classical model. Here the stability study of Single Machine-Infinite Bus System (SMIB) is carried out by tuning the AVR with the PSS to stabilize voltage under transient condition.

Digital colour watermarking has become essential and important copyright protection schemes in multimedia industry. Distribution of digital documents, especially colour images, over the internet has also become increasingly cost-efficient and widespread. The increased importance of digital media brings new challenges for securing the distribution of digital multimedia to make it both profitable for the document owner and reliable for the customer. This paper presents a novel and robust colour watermarking scheme of embedding colour watermark into colour host image. The technique shows efficient extraction of watermark with high PSNR of embedded image. The proposed algorithm is experimented in frequency domain in which combination of DWT and DCT is applied on the host image. The high energy content of colour watermark i.e. low frequency DCT coefficients are embedded into mid frequency DCT coefficients of high frequency components of multi resolved host colour image. The proposed algorithm is more secure, robust and efficient because of use of DWT and DCT. Performance evaluation and testing of the proposed algorithm using standard benchmarks reveals that it is fairly robust against a wide range of signal and image processing operations.

The healthcare industry collects a huge amount of data which is not properly mined and not put to the optimum use. Discovery of these hidden patterns and relationships often goes unexploited. However there is ongoing research in medical diagnosis which can predict the diseases of the heart, lungs and various tumors based on the past data collected from the patients. Our research focuses on this aspect of Medical diagnosis by learning pattern through the collected data for Swine Flu. This research has developed prototype Intelligent Swine flu Prediction software (ISWPS). We used Naïve Bayes classifier for classifying the patients of swine flu into three categories (least possible, probable or most probable). We have used 17 symptoms of Swine flu and collected 110 symptoms sets from various hospitals and medical practitioners. Using ISWPS, we have achieved an accuracy of nearly 63.33%. It is implemented on the JAVA platform.

Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANET) is the self organizing collection of mobile nodes. The communication in MANET is done via a wireless media. In order to support the growing need for multimedia and real time applications, QoS support has become essential. However it is a challenge to route QoS in wireless environment due to node’s dynamic nature and mobility. This paper aims towards efficient QoS routing using OLSR (Optimized Link State Routing) by enhancing the MPR (Multi Point Relay) selection criteria. Considering the QoS parameters of effective bandwidth and end-to-end delay, a new algorithm has been proposed to map the QoS parameters into a single numeric weight in order to select the MPR node. The simulation results establish the efficiency of the proposed methodology.

In this paper, Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is developed for tuning Fuzzy Logic Controller applied to Active suspension system. First the controller is designed according to Fuzzy Logic rules for disturbance rejection to reduce unwanted vehicle’s motion. Then the Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) is optimized with PSO and Genetic Algorithm (GA) so as to obtain optimal adjustment of the scaling factors, membership functions and the number of fuzzy control rules. R.M.S. value of the body acceleration is considered as the performance index. The relative performances of the two algorithms are compared. Digital simulation results demonstrate that the PSO tuned Fuzzy Logic Controller based active suspension system exhibits an improved ride comfort and good road holding ability than its counterparts.

Requirement engineering is the most effective phase of software development process. It aims to collect good requirements from stakeholders in the right way. It is important for every organization to develop quality software products that can satisfy user’s needs. Requirements engineering for software development process is a complex exercise that considers product demands from a vast number of viewpoints, roles, responsibilities, and objectives. Therefore, it becomes necessary to apply requirement engineering practices in every phase of software development process. In this paper, we propose an effective requirements engineering process model to produce quality requirements for software development. Requirement management and planning phase is executed independently for an effective management of requirements. It is iterative in nature for better requirement engineering and later maintenance. The successful implementation of proposed requirement engineering process can have a good impact on the production of quality software product.
