In this paper the seismic intensity of 5 inslab earthquakes with magnitude 6.0 ≤ Mw ≤ 7.3 and epicenter in the southeast of the Mexican Volcanic Belt is analyzed in terms of spatial distribution of the peak ground acceleration recorded by seismological stations located in Mexico. Based on the available instrumental data, intensity maps were generated using a Kriging interpolation and site effects for some seismological stations were estimated by a Horizontal-to-Vertical Spectral Ratio analysis. Results show the crucial role that distribution of seismic instrumentation and site characteristics have in the determination of expected ground motion and reflect the importance of having an appropriate instrumentation coverage to improve seismic engineering analyses.

In recent decades it is clear to note the effects that climate change has brought with it in the increasingly frequent occurrence of extreme weather events such as heavy rains and floods. Same, which in turn has an impact on the distribution of pathogens of infectious diseases transmitted by water. Floods are the natural disaster that occurs most frequently and, in addition, has been associated with epidemic outbreaks of leptospirosis throughout the world. The present work is a collection of information about floods that have given rise to outbreaks of leptospirosis around the world for which the Google Scholar, Scielo, Scopus, Science Direct, Clinical Key, and PubMed databases were used, finding 18 articles that related flooding-leptospirosis. With the analysis of the information, it is suggested that a preventive measure for the contagion with the disease should be oriented to the control and mitigation of flood events for which a first step would be the identification of flood zones near sites that present the factors of risk associated with the disease.

Food safety is an important subject that in recent years has been studied by different organizations. A relevant aspect in this study is the primary sector, where pests and diseases represent a limitation in agricultural production. Among the diseases, those caused by phytopathogens are the most important, which Fusarium plays an important role in phytosanitary problems. In addition, the world has faced environmental problems caused by human activities such as agricultural due to the indiscriminate use of chemicals in order to eradicate the problems caused by pests and diseases. Nowadays some producers have turned to alternatives that are environmentally friendly, nevertheless, many others have continued with chemical management due to its high efficiency. Therefore, the objective of this review is to study the advantages and disadvantages of the use of conventional fungicides to control diseases caused by Fusarium against environmentally friendly options.

The estimation of the wind resource had a large increase in recent years due to the strong demand for renewable energy. Wind estimation is a dynamic problem due to its stochastic nature. Consequently, the study of wind speed in different places helps to know the geospatial dependencies that exist between them. In this paper, we present a stochastic process that analyzes the geographic dependencies in eight sites in the Metropolitan Area of Queretaro using a statistical approach using the Expectation-Maximization (EM) algorithm. The Spearman correlation coefficient is then used to determine the intensity in the relationship between each of the sites. The results of the experimentation were carried out in three scenarios, in different periods, in this way we can know the type of association in the sites during each period. In this way, the sites where wind power can be used to obtain wind energy are known.

The world is full of geometric figures, how to measure them can change the understanding of every element and phenomenon, including the eyes. Ophthalmology, like many branches of medicine, face various problems focused on research that goes beyond the understanding of diseases of the eye. The pupil can reflect various defects and abnormalities related to the nervous system, so make a correct study of it can be the difference between surgery or a treatment, however, its study is known to be carried out using different tools and under different conditions that can lead to discrepancies between the measures that are considered normal or not. These situations are given for involving the perception and judgment of specialists in their analysis or the refusal of them to use pupilometers (possibly due to the methods of some of these devices to determine the measurements). This paper analyzes the use of morphological operators, especially the ultimate opening, as well as the concept of Feret diameter in the proposal of the design of a pupillometer based on digital processing images to detect and analyze related conditions detectable through malformations in the pupils, such as anisocoria, astigmatism, among others.

Bamboo is a material that is considered a key component for sustainable construction due to its rapid reproduction and high resistance. This plant has great economic importance around the world. It has many uses ranging from the elaboration of objects such as musical instruments and furniture, to constructions and small structures. Other advantages make use of bamboo are that it is an element of cheap and economic construction in addition to the fact that generates many employs in growing areas and helps the recovery of natural spaces that favor biodiversity. In the ecological aspect bamboo is a plant that is not in danger of extinction nor is it globally threatened, these plants have a very extensive propagation and growth that causes that it is considered like undergrowth. This research seeks to design a concrete mixture that has a very strong resistance thanks to the properties of bamboo using it as aggregate in concrete, so that it can be implemented in various constructions to increase quality and resistance. All this is accomplished through a process of experimentation in which the mixture of concrete with bamboo that was designed is subjected to stress tests and compared to the resistance of the normal concrete to conclude if the proposal is functional With the strength obtained, adding 15% of bamboo as an aggregate, according to the Mexican Institute of Concrete and Cement (imcyc), the mixture of concrete with bamboo is functional for lightweight earthenware and concrete elements without structural requirements.

By applying feature selection algorithms, such as the Relief and the Sparse Multinomial Logistic Regression with Bayesian regularization (SBMLR) to a feature set, a smaller subset of features can be obtained. Considering only those selected for all or most of the test subjects; this shows that the Mean Absolute Value (MAV) of the signal provides less information than the rest of the features that were selected. The proposed method was applied to the classification of myoelectric signals of the transtibial section, using Support Vector Machines (SVM) as a classifier.

The Auditory Steady State Responses (ASSR) are constant responses to constant stimuli, which can be generated under signals with fast frequencies. They follow a behavior similar to quasi-sinusoidal signals. They capture from the bioelectric activity caused by the stimulus, but they are under unwanted brain activity considered as noise, so the acquisition of these signals requires an algorithm to reduce it. In this work, a signal is analyzed as a stimulus for generation of these kinds of responses and because of its behavior similar to the response that provoked, an algorithm is studied. It includes the Wavelet Transform for reduction of noise after the signal is contaminated. Several comparisons were made and they used different kind of mother Wavelets, in order to choose one that contributes to the greatest noise reduction. The mean squared error in each approach was calculated.
