Micro Lens Arrays Generated by Ultraviolet Laser Irradiation of Doped Polymethylmethacrylate 紫外光照射掺杂聚甲基丙烯酸甲酯制备微透镜阵列

Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) doped with 0.25 wt% of 1,3-diphenyltriazen (DPT) was illuminated with single subablative excimer laser pulses of about 30 ns duration at 308 nm wavelength. Illumination of the polymer surface was earned out by 7:1 demagnifying mask projection using circular apertures. The resulting spotsize on the sample was varied between diameters of 10 and 300 µm. The fluence was varied between the onset of visible surface changes at about 400 mJ/cm2 and the beginning of single pulse mass removal at about 5 J/cm2.

Aperiodic Quasi-Phase-Matching as a Method to Reduce Switching Intensity in Devices Based on Second Order Cascading 基于二阶级联的非周期准相位匹配降低器件开关强度的方法

The combination of two novel techniques second order cascading [1] and quasi phase matching [2] (QPM) can yield to solutions for construction small, low power operated, all-optical switching devices. Important parameters in this devices are the switching intensities Iπ/2 and Iπ necessary for obtaining nonlinear phase shift (NPS) with amount of π or π/2, correspondingly. Here we show that one way to reduce the parameters Iπ/2and Iπ is to use aperiodic quasi-phase matched structure. We investigated the NPS obtained by the fundamental beam involved in the process of second harmonic generation in second order material for which the normalized phase mismatch satisfy where ki=2πni/λi (i=ω,2ω), p is a coefficient and Kgrat(z) = 2π/Λgrat(z) with Λgrat being the grating period.

Compct Nd:YAG Optical Amplifier for Intersatellite Coherent Communication 用于星间相干通信的紧凑Nd:YAG光放大器

Free-space coherent communications systems require high efficiencies, output powers of about 1 W or more, and a phase modulation bandwidth of at least 1 GHz. Furthermore, spaceborne applications should exhibit exceptional ruggedness while maintaining a small package and simple thermal management. We present three different variants of a novel diode laser-pumped Nd:YAG amplifier that was designed to amplify the phase modulated beam of intersatellite optical links. The amplification, saturation, and noise properties as well as the thermally induced distortions are discussed.

Detection of HCI at the ppb Level with a DFB Laser Based Spectrometer DFB激光光谱仪在ppb水平上检测HCI

In several industrial processes there is a growing demand for a fast and sensitive detection of HCl, in order to reduce the pollution due to that molecule. We realized a compact spectrometer based on distributed feed-back (DFB) diode laser, which adopts a two-tone frequency modulation technique, for reaching a detection limit of few ppb. This technique moves the demodulation frequency in a region where the laser excess noise can be reduced to a lower level (10 MHz - 1 GHz).

We have demonstrated significant extension of the pulse repetition frequency (PRF) operation regime of a diode-bar-pumped Nd:YAG laser towards higher PRF. The laser is an electro-optic Q-switched Nd:YAG laser with stable resonator It is side-pumped by pulsed laser diodes with a duty cycle in the order of 20 %. Earlier we have demonstrated that the PRF can be continuously adjusted over an enormous range from 1 Hz to 1 kHz At 1 kHz, typically an output power of 10 W is generated, corresponding to a single pulse energy of 10 mJ [1]. The pulse duration in the fundamental wave is about 12 ns. Combined with a near-diffraction limited beam quality (M2 < 1.1), this high intensity allows external harmonic generation with high efficiency. Typical values at 1 kHz are an average power of 6.5 W at 532 nm, 4.5 W at 355 nm, 2.8 W at 266 nm, and 1 W at 213 nm in the 5HG [2].

Polarization Properties of the Diode-Pumped Nd:Lasers Passively Q-Switched with Cr/sup 4+/: Saturable Absorbers Cr/sup +/:可饱和吸收剂被动调q二极管泵浦Nd激光器的偏振特性

Excellent output parameters of Cr4+-passively Q-switched diode pumped Nd-lasers causes strong interest to these system as laser sources for the consequent nonlinear frequency conversion through external harmonics generation or through pumping the optical parametric oscillators [1]. Mode-selection property is quite common for passive Q-switching technique and can by explained by means of strong gain difference between adjacent modes during multipass build up of the pulse. However, the polarization features of the Cr4+ :crystals-Q-switched lasers are determinated mainly by polarization anisotropy of the Cr4+-saturable absorption and it’s interaction with resonator polarization inhomogeneity.

The pump power absorbed in the solid-state laser crystals gives rise to thermal loading effect owing to the temperature dependence of the refractive index n l . Because of this the characteristics of the laser can be drastically changed, so this effect is important to design efficient laser system. The temterature distribution T(r,z) inside the laser od in the steady state satisfies a well-know differential equation and the resulting thermal variation of n l can be analytically evaluated in terms of the exponential integrals [1]:
