. The subject Basics of Management is a compulsory subject and is a pre-course for many other subjects at Animal Husbandry Faculty in Universitas Andalas. This subject greatly contributes to the achievement of graduate profiles based on the Higher Education Curriculum (KPT) S1 Animal Husbandry and characterizes the level 6 work qualifications unit of the KKNI, because to become a manager, entrepreneur, community leader and even applicants and science developers are very needed good management skills to achievement of an objective effectively and efficiently. The learning method applied previously has implemented Student Learning Center but the percentage of value acquisition in the excellent category is very small, which is 1.27%. In addition to the change in value weights by the university, this study also made changes to the assessment criteria carried out related to the Blended Learning process that was applied. After the Blended Learning learning method is applied there is an increase in the percentage of value acquisition in the very good category which is very significant, reaching 56.67%.

. The present research was carried out to study the beneficial effects of the application of the Experiential Learning (EL) in the form of the assignment of scientific paper on the improvement of soft skills and achievements of student grades. The study involved 80 students enrolled Feed Industry Management subject located in Limau Manis (PDG) dan Payakumbuh (PYK) Campus. They were divided into three parallel classes: P03PDG (32 students), P01PYK (31) and P02PYK (17). The students were offered a structured assignment, starting with an explanation of the material, measuring physical properties of feed in the laboratory, calculating and processing of data, writing and submission of draft and final scientific paper. Students were closely mentored and offered feedback at each stage of the task to encourage the students to do so with an honest, disciplined, obedient and earnest. Parameters observed included soft skills (honesty, discipline, obedience, earnest) and achievement grades (mid exam, final grades). The results showed that the group of students P01PYK and P02PY shows better honesty, discipline, obedience and sincerity than that in the class P03PDG. Assignment might promote the improvement of soft skills of students, but there was no significant effect on achievement mid exam scores. It might be concluded that that learning through assignments preceded by field experiences in the laboratory has a positive effect on student soft skills but the application of this EL model has not been able significantly to improve student achievement.

. This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation of Flipped Classroom Learning on Management Accounting Course in achieving the course’s expected learning outcomes compared to traditional learning. The research type is applied research. The population is the students who are taking management accounting courses This research uses census sampling. It is found that flipped learning increases the material understanding of students as indicated by the increase of formative assessment results using Kahoot. Flipped learning also increases the final grade. This research also found that flipped learning (1) can help the students to have better conceptual (2) can encourage the students to do self-learning and collaborative learning, and (3) can provide the learning flexibility. Students have also benefited from online learning videos and recommended keeping on the flipped classroom learning.

. This paper investigates application of several design techniques to stimulate student’s creativity in design of engineering products. The first technique is creative methods, such as brainstorming, synetics, enlarging the search space, while the second technique is rational methods such as objective tree, function analysis, quality function deployment, morphological chart, weighted objective and value engineering method. Both techniques have been previously taught in the subject of Engineering Design, one of required subject in Department of Mechanical Engineering of Andalas University, for 3 rd year students. All methods above, whether creative methods or rational methods, theoretically could be used to stimulate the creativity of the students in the design process. The creativity is assessed through application of analytical rubrics in four criteria of assessment. Those are variety of ideas and context, variety of sources, combining ideas, and communicating something new. The result shows that under scale of 1 to 4, the level creativity for four criteria of assesment are 2.93, 2.79, 2.5 and 2.15 respectively. In general, the average level of creativity is 2.59, somewhere between category of Creative (Scale 3) and Ordinary (Scale 2).

Classroom Action Research (CAR) is a researcher's personal intervention to produce improvements in the results of the Student Learning Process (PBM). The purpose of this CAR is to find out the extent to which the application of Content-Based Learning and Visual Presentation methods is able to improve various aspects related to the ability to communicate in English of 46 students in English class at the Midwifery Study Program at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Andalas. The findings show that in the process of undergoing two cycles of research implementation, it was gradually seen that the method with a more communicative approach was able to improve various aspects related to the ability to communicate in English. Obviously increased aspects include: increased mastery of midwifery vocabulary, understanding of midwifery content, courage in speaking, ability to interact with friends, motivation to learn, critical thinking, speaking fluency, grammatical understanding, and ability to make good PowerPoint. There are several obstacles in conducting research, especially in the first cycle, such as, the topics are less debatable, the learning approaches are less varied, the topics are too numerous and the group members discuss them little so participants who attend the presentation are a bit indifferent. However, the obstacles found in the first cycle can be overcome in the second cycle by the way the topics chosen in the second cycle are reduced and can be debated and there are quite a lot of group members discussing them.

Achievement of the learning objectives of a student with the method of learning problem based learning (PBL), can be influenced by the results of extracting their peer information in small groups because the information obtained by students will be discussed to perfect the knowledge gained. This study applies a small group discussion (SGD) and tutorial in the PBL method. The results of the study, there was an increase in the value of students before and after treatment with a value of p = 0,000, and there was a difference in the grades of students in 2017 and 2016, where the grades of students in 2017 were better than in 2016, with p = 0.001. The results of the interview that students prefer the SGD method over discussion in large classes, students feel better understand the discussion material, each group member is more active and gives their opinions according to the theory of the book or journal that has been studied, lecturer attention to each student is greater, so students are very enthusiastic in studying the material and discussing it. PBL method with SGD is very effective to be applied in learning to increase the activeness, interactive, learning motivation, and critical thinking of students.
