In the following work we carry out a literary analysis of the Basque legend «La dama de Amboto», by Cuban Gertrudis Gomez de Avellaneda, written during the summers of 1858 and 1859 during her visit to this Spanish region. In this way, we examine historical and literary aspects to understand the feminist thought that transpires in her short story, for example, in its dialogue with the fervent readings of Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s works that the author will do throughout her literary career, and the presence of several Basque and classical folk myths that survive in her text. From our point of view, the short story shows an imbricated construction of the fantastic as a vehicle of her feminist discourse that matches the matriarchal tradition of Mari, a goddess who would inhabit the mountains according to Basque mythology.

The fantastic is one of the main thematic frames in the productions of Japanese commercial animation. Within this genre, the various adaptations and reworkings of myths and folktales represent fertile resources to cover the demands of an extremely prolific industry. However, despite its popularity as an object of study, research on fantastic anime rarely venture beyond the thematic or historical coordinates of their plots. This article aims to address the relationship between the intricate narration of two significant television anime series— Kurozuka and Puella Magi Madoka Magica —and the representation of the witches involved in them. Through the use of the narratological categories of self-consciousness and the cognoscibility, we apply film analysis tools to delve into the relationship between the Japanese representational tradition and the narrative complexity in contemporary audiovisual productions.

This article deals with some methodological issues regarding the relationship between medium (more specifically the question of transmediality) and use (more specifically the issue of interactivity) in the field of the fantastic. More specifically, it discusses some fundamental hypotheses on the way the interactive dimension of transmedial adaptations can either increase or diminish the fantastic effect. A special emphasis will be put on issues of time and narrative, on the one hand, and context and medium traditions, on the other hand. KeyworDs: Intensity, fantastic, narrative, participation, transmediality. TRANSMEDIALIZANDO LO FANTÁSTICO: UNA APROXIMACIÓN BASADA EN EL USUARIO

This work analyzes the relationship between two artistic disciplines -ballet and literature- and, specifically, between the choreographic work Giselle (1841), by Jean Coralli (1779-1845) and Jules Perrot (1810-1892), and two literary works: the poem Fantomes by Victor Hugo (1802-1885), published in his work Les Orientales (1829), and a popular legend from The Elementary Spirits (1837), by Heinrich Heine (1797-1856). To do this, we explain the process through which both literary texts become one of the most recognized ballets, describing as clearly as possible the convergences and divergences between these three works, which belong to different artistic disciplines, though at the same time remaining in the fantastic genre. Likewise, a comparative analysis is proposed that focuses initially on the roles adopted by the female characters in Giselle to cover later the roles they acquire in different literary works by Hugo and Heine.
