Stress is the body's nonspecific response to demand. Coping refers to things people do to protect themselves from life's challenges. The COVID-19 pandemic significantly affected our lives as it caused additional stress to people worldwide, especially the medical frontliners. Stress dramatically influences our mood, sense of well-being, behavior, and health. This study aimed to determine the stress level and coping strategies among the medical frontliners in Tagbilaran City. It utilized the descriptive quantitative research design aided with a self-made questionnaire based on the "Person-Environment Fit Theory" by Kurt Lewin to measure the respondent's level of stress and a standardized Questionnaire entitled "The Coping Resources Inventory for Stress (CRIS)." The questionnaire was subjected to pilot testing. The result for Cronbach's test was 0.862, which was acceptable. Forty-seven (47) respondents were randomly selected to participate in the study, 18 of the forty-seven nurses were working at Bohol Cooperative Hospital, and twenty-nine (29) were from Borja Family Hospital. Primary ethical concerns were observed throughout the study as it underwent an ethics review from the University of Bohol Research Ethics Committee. Respondents' participation was based on the signed informed consent ensuring their privacy and anonymity. Data were subjected to the Chi-Square test and Spearman Rank Correlation using SPSS. The results showed that the respondents were moderately stressed regarding work-related factors and mildly stressed with personal-related factors, which challenged their ability to manage Stress. Results further revealed that respondents were above-average stress-copers.

Reading is an essential macro skill everyone should develop, especially students. The primary thrust of this study was to determine the student's reading fluency in Tagbilaran City College, Tagbilaran City, Bohol, for Academic Year 2019-2020. This quantitative research involved 256 first-year students in all degree programs. This study utilized the free reading speed test software of the Ace Reader program as a tool to determine reading fluency in terms of speed and comprehension. As to the findings, it revealed that the respondents are Instructional readers. Moreover, the study found that there is no significant relationship between students’ profiles and reading fluency. There is no significant difference in reading fluency between male and female respondents. However, there is a significant variance in the reading fluency of the respondents among complexity levels. Furthermore, the post hoc analysis using the Pairwise Comparisons showed that the respondents have a faster reading speed in the Critical, Interpretive, and Applied Complexity levels. Also, it revealed that the respondents have the highest comprehension at the Literal level and the lowest at the Critical level. The study also showed that the respondents have better reading fluency in the Literal and Interpretive levels than in the Applied and Critical levels. The study concluded that the respondents tend to read faster as the complexity level increases; however, they tend to comprehend less as the complexity level increases. Hence, the respondents' fluency decreased as the complexity level increased.

The study sought to determine the level of effectiveness of security officers in conducting policies and regulations within Tagbilaran City malls. This was conducted in the six (6) Malls of Tagbilaran City, namely; Island City Mall, Alturas Mall, BQ Mall, Marcela Mall, Alta Citta Mall, and Galleria Louisa Mall. This study used a quantitative design with the use of a survey method in gathering data. The participants were the one hundred twenty (120) customers of the malls. Self-made questionnaires were constructed by the researchers with the help of the thesis adviser. Pilot testing was done and subjected to Cronbach’s Alpha Testing for reliability and consistency. The data gathered were then tabulated, analyzed, and interpreted. It was concluded that every security officer from the different malls within the City of Tagbilaran is duly responsible for imposing policies and regulations therein. Security officers always ensure the safety of every customer in their jurisdiction. It is recommended that the best way to improve the perception of the customers towards them is through the customer service they provide, not just to direct clients or customers but to the general community they encounter. The presence of security officers on sites provides a feeling of security and comfort to the customers and guests so having them in any area is important for the reputation of a business or company. Training will also make a real improvement in how security officers perform, thus, their agencies must provide seminars and training to improve their skills and abilities. Agencies must hire security officers with clean backgrounds and good reputations. Security officers must always be alert and have an eye for security and safety.

The postpartum period, also known as puerperium and the “fourth trimester,” refers to the time after delivery when maternal physiologic changes related to pregnancy return to the nonpregnant state. In addition, to the physiologic changes and medical issues that may arise during this period, healthcare providers should be aware of the psychological needs of the postpartum mother and be sensitive to cultural differences surrounding childbirth, which may involve eating foods and restricting certain activities. This study aimed to assess the level of awareness of postpartum complications and utilization of preventive measures among patients, which hoped to come up with appropriate recommendations. Through a quantitative method, 50 randomly selected postpartum mothers were interviewed. The results revealed that they were moderately aware of the postpartum complications and moderately utilized preventive measures to prevent postnatal complications. Furthermore, it also revealed a significant correlation between the mothers’ level of awareness of postpartum complications and their level of utilization of preventive measures. The results implied the need to amplify and simplify information dissemination in the context of postpartum complications and preventive measures. It is recommended that there is a need to increase pregnant mothers’ level of awareness of postpartum complications as well as the utilization of preventive measures.

This study provides mimetic and archetypal analysis on the selected Cebuano-Visayan poems of Adonis Durado, a multi-awarded Cebuano poet, utilizing Plato's Theory of Mimesis and Aristotle's Literary Theory and Criticism. Plato looks at how the images, symbols, and themes reveal imitations of reality, and Aristotle argues that human beings are natural imitators who are vital in making a healthy society. This study investigates the social issues and the prevalent themes extracted from the poems understudied. Furthermore, the study asserts that mimesis locates the meaning of literature in the nature that it copies, insisting that the universal essence of mimesis is a mere reflection of the poet's inner necessity, inner determinacy, and not a separate world of ideas. It is revealed that the selected poems of Adonis Durado mimetically mirror the people's economic struggles, which significantly affects the harmony within the familial and societal sphere. The symbols used in the poems describe the Philippine society's local color, often associated with poverty, violence, and the Filipinos' survival mechanism. The poverty that the oppressed often suffered develops the people's resiliency shown in the images of how people continue to live despite economic disadvantages, abuses, and violence. Poverty has two faces; it is either the cause or effect of people's circumstances, and these dominant social issues feature in the poems surrounding poverty and violence.

The Cogon Flea Market in Tagbilaran City's Cogon neighborhood is a vibrant center facing severe challenges. The closeness determines the quality of being vibrant to daily excess requirements and other places essential to inhabitants' daily lives, and these destinations are walkable. The emphasis of this study is on the intangible qualities of social elements and their related functions. The paper required us to thoroughly examine pertinent literature, a desk review of local ordinances, oral interviews with Boholano history specialists, people of the surrounding region, and site inspection. The findings indicate a disparity in the regulation produced with the functions of the area's vibrancy, notably on the 'walkability' to satisfy the excess requirement of the inhabitants while resolving traffic congestion. It impacts the quality of life in the following ways on a macro scale: smart growth, economic consequences, health, and well-being. These findings imply that if the morphological feature of the region were altered in some way, the Center would lose its intended purpose.

Psychological capital is an essential factor that influences teachers’ productivity, commitment, and overall performance. The study determined the psychological capital, emotional labor, and stress index of public-school teachers in Tubigon Districts. It is a descriptive-correlational study using standardized survey tools as data gathering tools. Three hundred fifty (350) participants were chosen through a random sampling technique from Tubigon East and West Districts, Division of Bohol, as of the schoolyear 2020 – 2021. It utilized standardized tools, namely: the Psychological Captial Questionnaire (PCQ-24) by Luthans, Avolio, Avey, and Norman (2007), the Emotional Labor of Teacher Scale (TELTS) by Brown (2011), and the Wilson Stress Profile for Teachers (WSPT) by Rosenberg (2010). Results revealed that respondents’ age, sex, religious affiliation, and years of service are related to psychological capital. The civil status and highest educational status are not statistically connected with psychological capital. Furthermore, only sex and education have a significant relationship with emotional labor. Moreover, the teacher respondents’ profile, such as religious affiliation and highest educational status, has a significant association with stress level. Conversely, age, sex, civil status, and years of service said otherwise. The results also revealed that psychological capital has a significant relationship with emotional labor and stress index. Emotional labor did not influence stress levels. When aggregated based on sex, their psychological capital and emotional labor differ; however, no significant difference in terms of stress index.
