Purpose: This study aim to determine the occurrence of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in pregnancies after IVF treatment and to evaluate the factors that reduce this risk. Methods: This retrospective cohort study was conducted using the medical records of pregnant women who conceived following IVF at the in-vitro fertilization center between 2002–2019. The data were obtained from medical records and phone interviews. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed. Results: The incidence of GDM was found to be 16.7%. The regression model indicated that the risk of GDM was 4.57 times higher in the age group 36–40 at conception during the IVF cycle than the age group 31–35 (95% CI = 1.18–17.73, p = .028). Furthermore, women who conceived after the second IVF trial had a risk of GDM 3.464 times higher than those that conceived after their first IVF trial (95% CI = 1.07–11.23, p= .038). Conclusion: As age and number of IVF trials increase in infertile women, the risk of GDM increases after IVF treatment.

Purpose: Determination of proteomic differences plays an important role in biomarker investigations. Due to its heterogenic molecular background, identification of certain biomarkers is still a demand both for diagnosis and for prognosis of neuroblastoma. In this study, it is aimed to identify some marker proteins/mechanisms that may play role in neuroblastoma prognosis. Methods: A proteomic approach was performed for different risk groups of the disease by using matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization–time of flight (MALDI-TOF/TOF) approach. Mononuclear cell pools from blood samples of patients for risk groups were constructed and protein expression changes for different groups were identified. Real-time PCR analysis were performed for N-MYC, 11q, 1p and 17q status of these patients and risk groups were determined from tumor samples. Results: Manganese-superoxide dismutase (SOD2) protein was significantly increased in high-risk group of neuroblastoma patients. Conclusion: SOD2 may play an important role in neuroblastoma progression and be a candidate prognostic peripheral blood marker for neuroblastoma patients.

Background and Purpose: Breastfeeding is important with regard to public health. Our aim was to examine effects of spousal support in the early postpartum period on breastfeeding motivation in patriarchal societies. Methods: Study was descriptive, cross-sectional, correlational design. Study was conducted in a University Hospital in Inland Anatolia Region in Turkey. It included primiparous and multiparous women. Results: Analysis showed a significant positive, moderate relation between spousal support and breastfeeding motivation in the primiparous women; spousal support accounted for 23.8% of breastfeeding motivation of the women. There was a significant, positive weak relation between spousal support and breastfeeding motivation in the multiparous women; spousal support explained 8.2% of breastfeeding motivation in these women. Conclusion: Spousal support in the early postpartum period was found to have a positive influence on improvement of breastfeeding motivation. However, it could explain a small percentage of breastfeeding motivation. New strategies should be created to encourage spouses to get involved in breastfeeding.

Purpose: To evaluate the care burden of the caregivers of dementia patients and the relationship between anxiety-depression risk and quality of life. Methods: This study was conducted with 152 primary caregivers of dementia patients by using “Caregiver Burden Inventory”(CBI), “Hospital Anxiety-Depression Scale” (HADS) and “Short Version of the Quality of Life Assessment Instrument From the World Health Organization” (WHOQOL-BREF). Results: Mean age of the caregivers was 49.4±9.0 years; of them, 79.6% were females, 54.6% were graduates of elementary/secondary school. Mean age of dementia patients was 79.8±8.0 years; of them, 55.2% were females, 46.1% had advanced stage dementia and 30.9% had pressure ulcers. High care burden was detected in 101 (66.4%) caregivers, anxiety in 37 (24.3%) and depression in 109 (71.7%). The scores of HAD-A and HAD-D were significantly high (p=0.007, p=0.002) and WHOQOL-Bref score was significantly lower (p=0.001) in caregivers of the patients with pressure ulcers. Scores of CBI, HAD-A and HAD-D were found to significantly increase (p=0.005, p=0.042 and p=0.030, respectively) and WHOQOL-Bref score was found to significantly decrease (p=0.009) as stage of dementia increased. HAD-A and HAD-D scores were detected to increase (p=0.000, p=0.000) and WHOQOL-Bref score was detected to decrease (p=0.000) as CBI score increased. Conclusion: Dementia causes a high care burden for the caregivers. It is of vital importance to facilitate reaching professional support services for reducing care burden that increases with increasing stage, and establishing hospice care institutions for reducing the risk of mental disorders and for improving quality of life of the caregivers.

Objective: This study was conducted to evaluate the caregiving burden of caregivers of patients receiving Hemodialysis (HD) treatment. Methods: The research was conducted with 107 caregivers of patients receiving HD treatment at State Hospital and Private Dialysis Center. The entire population was intended to be reached by avoiding the use of samples. The universe has been explored to an extent of 89%. Between 1 June and 1 July 2022, the researchers visited HD centers and conducted in-person interviews to gather the data. The demographic data of both patients and caregivers were collected using a 16-item “Descriptive Information Form” and the “Zarit Caregiver Burden Scale (ZCBS)”. Results: The mean caregiving burden score of the participants was 47.53 ±13.87. Among the patients, 39.3% were between the ages of 41-60 and 40.2% were between the ages of 61-80. 85.7% of caregivers were 60 years old or younger. 75.7% of caregivers were women. There was a significant relationship between patient education level and caregiver burden. Caregivers with university degrees had a lower caregiving burden. The degree of caregiver burden was found to vary greatly depending on the caregiver’s age, marital status, occupation, and closeness to the patient. \u0000Results: The mean caregiving burden score of the participants was 47.53 ±13.87.
