— It is difficult to ignore the basic point about William Blake that though chronologically he is an eighteenth-century poet, he is a highly gifted and immensely successful lyric poet. While Blake’s poetry may or may not have the pleasantness of great poetry, it is perhaps true that Blake has no notable predecessors and no followers. He consistently stresses the importance of freedom, as opposed to the tyranny that he feels to be characteristic of the government of his day, and attacks negative moralizing, which he associates with the church, as opposed to a true sense of religion. The Songs of Innocence and of Experience occupy a vital place in the corpus of Blake’s poetical writings. This is so because these Songs are as much the product of Blake’s earlier writings as the pointer to his future writings. The kind of philosophical tone that we encounter in The Songs of Innocence and of Experience is indeed astounding. It is said that Blake looked upon poetry as something that is dictated by spirits, or as the result of inspiration, but he was also aware of the role of the poet to bring out certain truths of human life in front of the people in a symbolic way. There is no doubt about the fact that in the corpus of English Poetry no other poet has got as much success, if equal but certainly not more, as Blake. The present paper is mainly focused on the philosophical appeal and symbolic portrayal of human existence that the Songs of William Blake illustrate to us.

Considering the expansion of Dialectology in Brazil, which, in the 19th century, presented the first clues with the Viscount of Pedra Branca’s publication about the Brazilian Portuguese language compared to the European Portuguese spoken in Portugal, this paper presents the stages of development of the studies carried out since then and lists not only the periods that preceded Brazilian Geolinguistics, but the research that culminated with the publication of States Linguistic Atlases, the publication of the Linguistic Atlas of Brazil in 2014, idealized fifty years before, and the presentation of other documents already completed or designed, thus contemplating the entire Brazil length and completing the fourth phase of Geolinguistic studies. Twelve atlases were published in this phase, whose pioneering role was for Bahia speech, in 1963, and advanced in the work related to Minas Gerais (1977), Paraiba (1977). 1984), Sergipe (1987 and 2002), Parana (1994), The Southern Region (2002), Para (2004), Ceara (2009), Goias (2015), Pernambuco (2016) and Amapa (2017). However, in recent years, researches of linguistic varieties in traditional communities, such as Indigenous, Fishermen and Quilombolas, as are named the descendants and remaining of communities formed by enslaved fugitives, has drawn the attention of researchers and the elaboration of linguistic atlases involving these culturally differentiated people speeches already signals the fifth phase of Geolinguistic studies in the country. Thus, it is intended to present a description of the works, their methodological constitution and a brief overview of the products of these works, which cataloged, at the time of their conclusion, presented specific linguistic marks of the speech of each state and informants’ profiles that allowed the verification of sociocultural interferences.

The research paper aims to exhibit and explore pious, philosophical, and existential aspects of Gerard Manley Hopkins’ selected poems which remain an invaluable contribution to the shape and development of the Christian thought both for theologians and academic critics. The author of the article emphasizes that Hopkins’s challenging, highly ambitious and complex works, filled with spiritual anxiety, dualism and struggle between reason and sensuality, harmony and violence, happiness, and suffering, were mostly reject able by the Victorian audience and critics. Hopkins’s “model of the world” (Baranczak 1981), his depiction of tragic human existence and the presentation of two contradictory facets of God meet more the expectations of contemporary readers and are more appreciable by today’s thinkers, philosophers, and critics.

This study sought to capture the involvement of the private sector in the provision of higher education: Growth and administrative challenges facing private universities in Tanzania. Data was gleaned through the employment of a questionnaire, an in-depth interview guide, and a document analysis guide; five universities were included in the study. A sample size of 150 participants were involved in the study, including 100 Lecturers, 40 university students and 10 private university managers in the country. The research utilized mixed methods, convergent parallel research methods designs, which involved quantitative and qualitative paradigms. The instruments for data collection were a questionnaire, an interview, and observation. Validity and reliability were checked, the result of Cronbach's alpha was 0.861 indicating that the instruments were valid and reliable. Data was collected, coded using expressive statistics with the support package for Social Sciences (SPSS) Version 21. Qualitative information was coded by the naming of conceptual categories and main themes to obtain numerous realities. The current study established that private universities are contributing greatly to the provision of quality education in Tanzania. These include the fact that private universities outnumber public universities hence they enroll more students, they also employ more lecturers and their students perform better than those in public universities. Nevertheless, they encounter challenges such as lack of funds, research and publication, quality assurance specifically TCU issues which hinders the growth of private universities and loss of qualified experienced academic staff. This study recommends that private universities should endlessly focus at future staffing levels and guarantee strategies are revised so as to involve more students, managers in private universities need to expand, diversify and remodel their way of operations as well as putting in place the necessary support systems and resources as intervention measures to strengthen the provision of higher education to the students enrolled in the universities. There is also a need for universities to conduct more research for social transformation. Universities should partner with industry in the improvement of technology and the generation of market- driven programs.
