This article seeks understanding peer association and the causes of delinquent behaviors, the relationships of peer behaviors and the delinquency itself. The data from National Youth Survey are used to estimate cross-legged panel model that corrects the measurement error in indicators of delinquent peers and delinquent behavior. An emphasis of this research paper falls on Wilson’s arguments about reducing juvenile delinquency through deterrence philosophy, and Matsueda and Anderson’s theory of delinquency on peer influence that impact delinquency. Authors of these theories made attempts to explain not only the peer influence and their delinquent acts, but also how the delinquent peers cause delinquency. Results show that, the origin of delinquency is still unknown, due to the fact that peers may influence delinquency, but it is not clear where this learning process began. Peer influence and delinquency may be interrelated. Further studies are needed to understand the learning process of delinquency.

As Tang poetry is one of the quintessences of Chinese literature, this article adopts Dr. Wang Feng’s “Harmony-Guided Three-Level Poetry Translation Criteria” as a guide to analyze twelve English versions of Li Bai’s “Farewell to Uncle Yun, Imperial Librarian, at Xie Tiao Pavilion in Xuancheng” by Witter Bynner, Lancelot Granmer-Byng, John Scott, Innes Herdan, Sun Dayu, Wang Yushu, Soame Jenyns, Xu Yuanchong, Zhang Bingxing, Gong Jinghao, Xie Yanming and Wang Fulin. After analysis and comparison of the twelve English translations, it finds that the translation of Tang poetry should convey the poetic and artistic beauty under the guidance of “Harmony-Guided Three-Level poetry translation criteria” to blaze abroad classical Chinese culture.

This study focused on college completion or higher among Asian American population and the effect of English proficiency and other Asian languages spoken at home. Whether speaking English “well” or “not well” influences individual’s educational attainment. Assimilation theory and social capital theory were utilized. Data utilized form IPUMS 2011, examine six Asian ethnic languages, English proficiency, education, employment status, multigenerational, family formation, income, age, and sex among Asian Americans. Findings show overall English proficiency are statistically significant at the .001 level that Asians who speak English only, “very-well, “well”, and “not well” are more likely to obtain a college degree. Future implications will examine ethnic behaviors and migration patterns on educational attainment.

This article has been aimed at presenting a repertoire of mistakes made by two groups of experts at preparation, implementation and evaluation of preventive program focused on the increase of children and youth sensitivity to violence in the school environment. It was a group of researchers from the university, and a group of prevention supporters, herein as preventists, from a big non-profitable organization. The two groups worked together in various extents and within various stages of large preventive program application. Preventists from the non-profitable organization required from the researchers to map the program efficiency at elementary schools students. Both researchers and preventists created a tool for identification of children´s attitude to violence. Preventists created their own preventive program that was applied at schools during 8 sessions. Before and after the preventive program attending, the children filled in the same questionnaire of attitude in order to capture the change of their attitude to violence. Reverse analysis of preventive program test results represented a method of obtaining the outputs in order to identify the preventive program efficiency before and after the program application on students and pupils of a single Slovak region. So called „structural type errors“ were identified during detail analysis of preventive program efficiency test results. They are errors made by the group of researchers and preventists in the area of coordination and cooperation in the stage of preparation and implementation of the preventive program.

Sustainable development goals are resolutions born out of the need to create a people-centered development projects design to address the unfinished agendas of the Millennium development goals and also a framework aimed at achieving global sustainability agendas. It is a project that is designed against failure through various tracking indicators and visualization measures. Various researches, however, have suggested Indigenous Knowledge as a fundamental indicator in the realization of these goals. This short piece of work visualized the concept of sustainable development in the light of Indigenous knowledge systems and analyse the role it can play in contributing to the realization of global sustainability exploring its values and merits. The paper focuses on the SDG 4 and 17 highlighting the need for a radical exploration of Indigenous knowledge for a more quality education that is inclusive and indigenously informed. It explores the interrelatedness in the values of Indigenous knowledge systems, openness in education/knowledge sharing and sustainable development in the context of Africa settings. It identifies this interrelatedness as a mechanism for the realization of Indigenous knowledge expansion that could help in achieving partnership among world communities as a pathway for international developmental projects sustainability and suggests the need for the birth of theoretical models for data collection towards the realization of documenting and codifying indigenous practices despite its complexities and tactical nature.

The results of the research is that a considerable amount of schools has had been recording quite a number school dropout of which the majority are girls. Among other reasons, teenage pregnancies and early marriages have been cited as the main dropout causes in Kasama. This implies that, myths and practices during initiation ceremonies affect the girl’s education positively and negatively. The positive effects such as building of good morals, taking care of oneself, working hard as a girl among others, if they are accurately acquired and implemented by the initiates, then Zambia as a country will develop as people will be skill full, vigilant and knowledgeable.

The descriptive correlational method of research aimed to analyze the mathematical performance of high school freshmen in relation to their admission test results. Specifically, it sought to answer the following questions: 1.) What is the profile of the respondents in the terms of age, gender, and types of elementary school graduated? 2.) What is the mathematical performance of the respondents? 3.) Is there a significant relationship between the mathematical performance and the profile of the respondents in terms of age, gender, and types of elementary school graduated? 4.) What are the admission test results of the respondents? 5.) Is there a significant relationship between the admission test results of the respondents and their profile in terms of age, gender, and types of elementary school graduated? 6.) Is there a significant relationship between the mathematical performance of the respondents to their admission test results? 7.) Is there a significant difference in the mathematical performance between ASC and VAC respondents? 8.) Is there a significant difference in the admission test results between ASC and VAC respondents? Findings revealed that the mean age of the respondents was 12.96 (ASC) and 12.80 (VAC). There were more female than the male students in the VAC, while of the same number among the ASC. More public elementary graduates were found in the VAC while lesser in the ASC program. Talking about the mathematical performance, the ASC obtained 29.42 (Good); the VAC was 25.15 (Good). The admission mean scores of both programs were 38.04 and 32.13 described as both Satisfactory. The relationship of the mathematical performance and the admission test results to the age, gender, and types of elementary school of the ASC and VAC respondents were not significant. Relationship between the mathematical performance and the admission test results was significant. Difference in mathematical performance and admission test results between ASC and VAC respondents was significant. In reference to the foregoing summary of findings and conclusions, the following recommendations are hereby provided: Different approaches such as cooperative learning, making topics practical and workable, and student’s perceptions towards Mathematics should be taken into considerations in teaching Math to ASC and VAC students to enhance their mathematical abilities and become very satisfactory in Mathematics. Elementary teacher should provide deeper concepts to prepare grade six students for the different school admission test. A similar study should be conducted that will trail the Mathematics learning process of the students from first year to fourth year high school. Further study should be conducted to include factors, which were not considered in this study.

Qiang Jin Jiu, a classical poem created by one of the best ancient Chinese poets Li Bai, has more than one English version. Whether it is translated into a metrical verse or a free verse in English, the culture-loaded words in the poem have always been a major problem. For this reason, this study selects four English translations of metrical and freestyles respectively and sorts out the culture-loaded words that are easily misunderstood, aiming to find out the differences between the metrical and free verse translations through case studies to promote the out-going of Tang poetry.

In order to enhance international communication and cooperation, cultivate students with inter-cultural and international nursing awareness, improve foreign-concerned nursing ability, intensify English language learning, IELTS courses were adapted to teaching advanced nursing majors in a Chinese Nursing Vocational college. This article specifically focused on the effect of IELTS Speaking course which aimed to improve English spoken and communicative competence. Research methods including both quantitative questionnaire survey and qualitative interview were applied to 98 subjects who registered in this course. The results showed that students’ learning motivation and interest were fully triggered, and their spoken ability was more or less improved and learning needs were satisfied in general after this short-time experiment. As a consequence, this course should be carried out for long term to better equip students with internationally “double-qualified” certification, i.e. English competence plus professional expertise.
