The purpose of this study was to analyze the competitiveness of hybrid maize farming in Muna Barat Regency. Data collection was carried out in May - July 2021. The population in this study were all 415 hybrid corn farmers in Muna Barat Regency. Determination of the sample is done by using the cluster random sampling method, where the population is grouped by region, then the sample is selected randomly. Determination of the number of samples using the Slovin formula so that the number of samples obtained is 64 people. The data collected includes: the use of tradable inputs (fertilizers, pesticides, fuels, production machinery) and non-tradable inputs (land area, seeds, labor and production equipment) and outputs (production and selling prices). The data collection technique used is an interview using a questionnaire or a question guide. Analysis of the data used is the Policy Analysis Matrix (PAM). The results of the study show that hybrid corn farming in West Muna Regency has a competitive advantage, both based on indicators of competitive advantage with a PCR value of 0.29; or based on indicators of comparative advantage with a DRCR value of 0.07.Keywords: competitiveness; hybrid corn; Policy Analysis Matrix (PAM)

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the distribution of subsidized fertilizers for rice crops during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study was conducted in Baula District, Kolaka Regency from October 2021 to December 2021. The population in this study were rice farmers. Determination of the sample is done by simple random sampling technique. The number of samples selected as many as 91 respondents. Data analysis used two approaches, namely a qualitative approach and a quantitative approach by calculating the effectiveness of the distribution of subsidized fertilizers based on six precise indicators, consisting of price accuracy, quantity, time, place, type and quality accuracy. Meanwhile, to determine the effect of land area, number of seeds, fertilizer, labor and the effectiveness of fertilizer distribution on rice production, multiple non-linear regression analysis was used. The results of the study show that the distribution of subsidized fertilizers in Baula District, Kolaka Regency was not effective before the pandemic, and very ineffective during the Covid-19 pandemic. Land area, number of fertilizer, seeds, and number of labor have a positive and significant effect on lowland rice production, while the effectiveness of subsidized fertilizer distribution has a positive and insignificant effect on lowland rice production. Keywords: distribution; subsidized fertilizer; Covid-19 pandemic

The purpose of this study is to determine the economic behavior of cashew farmers, namely production behavior (weeding, pruning, fertilizing and pest and disease control), marketing behavior, saving behavior and investment behavior; and to determine the effect of social and economic factors (age, education level, number of family members, experience and land area) on the economic behavior of cashew farmers. The study was conducted in Mawasangka District, Central Buton Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province. Determination of the sample of cashew farmers was done by simple random sampling method. The number of samples is 100 farmers. The data were analyzed by multinomial logistic regression. The results of the study indicate that the behavior of cashew farmers in weeding is in the bad category; pruning behavior is categorized as very bad; fertilization behavior is categorized as sufficient, pest and disease control behavior is categorized as not good; marketing behavior is categorized as very bad; saving behavior is categorized as very bad; and investment behavior is categorized as very bad. Social and economic factors (age, education level, farming experience, family dependents and land area) cashew farmers have a positive and significant effect on production behavior, namely weeding, pruning, fertilizing and pest and disease control, except for the number of family dependents that have a positive effect but not significant to fertilization behavior. The factors of age, education level, farming experience, family responsibilities and land area have a positive and significant effect on marketing behavior. Likewise, its influence on investment behavior, all social and economic factors of cashew farmers have a positive and significant effect on investment behavior. While the effect on saving behavior, most of the social and economic factors of farmers have a positive and significant effect on saving behavior, except for the farming experience factor which has a negative but not significant effect. Keywords: economic behavior; social and economic; cashew

The purpose of this study was to determine and analyze the independence of farmers, the sustainability of lowland rice farming, and the relationship between farmers' independence and the sustainability of lowland rice farming in Konda District, South Konawe Regency. Data sourced from lowland rice farmers in Konda District. The basis for consideration of making two villages the subject of this research is that the two villages are the villages with the highest number of lowland rice farmers in Konda District. The population of this research is 120 farmers of lowland rice in Cialam Jaya village and 80 farmers in Lawoila village. The research sample size was determined using the Slovin formula and the respondents were determined using cluster random sampling. Data analysis used descriptive analysis and Pearson correlation analysis. The results showed that the level of independence of farmers was included in the less independent category, which was 41.9 and the sustainability of farming was included in the less sustainable category, which was 37.0. The implication of the results of this study is that the independence of lowland rice farmers is one of the determining factors for the sustainability of lowland rice farming in Konda District in particular and South Konawe Regency in general. Keywords: farmer independence; sustainability of farming; rice paddy farming.

Sago (Metroxylon sp.) is a tropical wet palm plant, which has a strong adaptation to grow on marginal lands. Sago is one of the potential food commodities as a source of carbohydrates owned by Indonesia. The objectives of this study were: identify the factors that are the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of sago commodity development; and determine the strategy for sago commodity development. This research was conducted in the Districts of Bondoala, Besulutu, Sampara and Kapoiala, Konawe Regency. The respondents of this study were the relevant government agencies staf in Konawe Regency and in Southeast Sulawesi Province, researchers from the Southeast Sulawesi AIAT and Development Agency and lecturers at the UHO Faculty of Agriculture, and collectors and inter-island traders. The analytical method used is SWOT-AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) analysis. The results of the study revealed that the strategy for developing sago commodities, which had the highest priority value or the most important ones, were the development of human resources for sago farmers and small and medium industries (IKM); strengthening coordination and synchronization of policies between institutions in the development of sago; policy on the expansion and protection of sago land; optimization of market share; diversification of sago products; increasing the competitiveness of processed sago products through the adoption of production technology; modernization of equipment and processing of sago to strengthen added value; and forming partnerships both market and capital. Keywords: development strategy; SWOT-AHP; sago

This study aims to analyze the competitiveness of shallot farming in South Buton Regency and the impact of government policies on that competitiveness. The research sample is 73 people. Data analysis using the Policy Analysis Matrix (PAM) shows that shallot farming in South Buton Regency has competitiveness in terms of competitiveness. from the aspect of competitive and comparative advantage with PCR and DRCR values less than one. This is in line with the level of private and social benefits of farming which has a positive value. The impact of government policies on the output side causes the actual price of shallot production in the local market to be higher than the price in the national market. The impact of government policies on the input side causes shallot farmers in South Buton Regency to pay tradable input costs, namely inorganic fertilizers, which are higher than the social price. However, the seed subsidy policy has provided a positive surplus for the income of shallot farmers. Simultaneously, input and output policies can provide positive incentives for farmers and support the development of shallot farming in South Buton Regency Keywords: shallot; Policy Analysis Matrix; competitive advantage, comparative advantage
