The paper aims to list the literature identifying those variables, theories, and models that impact the tourists’ decisions on choosing healthcare hotels for their medical treatment and wellness wellbeing. The article has undertaken bibliometric and content analyses of all the significant research areas of last two decades using the Google Scholar search engine. The findings of this study recommend that healthcare hotels focus on variables like medical and non-medical infrastructure, customer satisfaction, service quality, physical convenience, etc. to earn a competitive edge. This study also provides promising directions for future research of the academicians and industry professionals, such as benefits or feasibility of converting non-specific hotels into healthcare hotels or adding healthcare facilities into their regular features, the role of the healthcare hotel as a foreign exchange earner from inbound medical and wellness tourists, and the significance of healthcare hotels in epidemics or pandemics.

The research problem is cash gap management and its impact on the profitability of medium and large enterprises in Croatia’s hotel industry. The purpose of the paper is to investigate and determine profitability as a function of the mentioned enterprises’ cash gap management. The hypothesis that profitability is a concave second-degree polynomial function of the cash gap of the enterprises in question is tested in the paper. Besides descriptive statistics, the dynamic panel data regression method is used in the analysis for the time horizon from 2017 to 2021. The research results show that enterprise profitability is a concave second-degree polynomial function of the cash gap. * Dina Korent, Ph.D., Senior Teaching Assistant, Faculty of Organization and Informatics, Varaždin, Croatia, e-mail: dkorent@foi.unizg.hr, ORCID: 0000-0002-8285-6907 ** Marijana Bubanić, Ph.D., Senior Teaching Assistant, Faculty of Organization and Informatics, Varaždin, Croatia, e-mail: mabubanic@foi.unizg.hr, ORCID: 0000-0002-8882-1430 *** Doroteja Golubić, M.Econ, controlling associate, Metalska industrija Varaždin d.d., e-mail: doroteja.golubic@ gmail.com, ORCID: 0009-0004-5916-4090 44 Acta Turistica, Vol 35 (2023), No 1, pp 43-77

Tourism has been one of the most dynamically developing sectors in recent decades, is also vulnerable in numerous aspects. Since the COVID-19 pandemic caused such global drastic fallbacks and challenges as never before, the authors believe that it is crucial to learn from the past to understand the nature of crises in tourism and the microand macroeconomic responses to them, in order to be better prepared. The aim of this study is to map past crises affecting tourism and to analyse their impact on travel decisions according to the type of crisis, using the methodology of a systematic literature review (SLR). The authors believe that the results establish the reasons for the extremely increasing need for expanding our scholarly and practical knowledge concerning consumer market * Szabina Végi, PhD student, Doctoral School of Regional Policy and Economics, University of Pécs, Faculty of Business and Economics, Pécs, Hungary, e-mail: mikeine.vegi.szabina@ktk.pte.hu, ORCID: 0000-0002-

: The aim of this paper was to determine how different image contents of tourism destinations affect different sub-processes of consumer engagement. For this purpose, in the first step, a qualitative research was conducted by the method of content analysis to analyse 4,103 images of national tourism organizations of Spain and Italy published on social media – Facebook and Instagram. The results of this analysis showed which categories of image content these destinations most often publish on their social media. From these categories, the image contents that represented stimuli in the quasi-experiment were selected. A total of 508 respondents in the Republic of Croatia participated in the quasi-exper - iment. The analysis found that there are statistically significant differences between different categories of image content and consumer engagement. The results obtained by this research significantly contribute to the analysis of consumer engagement in the context of tourism, especially since the quasi-experimental method that was applied is rarely used in such research. In addition, some practical guidelines have been obtained for professionals managing the marketing of tourist destinations

: This paper aims to investigate the effects of implementing a concession model of ‘state-owned tourist plots’ (hereafter SOTPs) on the tourism sector in Croatian coastal destinations. Prior to ownership transformation and privatization, an SOTP was an integral part of the real estate that was owned and operated by the state-owned companies. During the process of transition and privatisation in the 1990s SOTPs were neither evaluated nor privatised, but continued to be operated by the respective companies after privatisation when the concession model was introduced in 2010. The paper examines the performance indicators of the campsites on SOTPs, the respective companies and destinations in comparison to other camps, companies and destinations in 2011 and 2019, and presents a case study of an SOTP-based campsite prior to and post investment from the collected taxes and public charges. The findings suggest that both the companies and the destinations on SOTPs show better performance indicators compared to other destinations and companies on the Croatian coast, and that the effects of the concessions on local communities largely depend on governance, regulation, and planning.

To determine the stakeholder perspective on different circumstances of cycling tourism destination development in the post- COVID-19 period, the survey method and a case study approach were implemented in obtaining stakeholder expert judgement. This paper acknowledges the recent academic and industry publications, and the current momentum in the EU (where post-COVID-19 recovery plans include raising the share of cycling), and discusses the primary research findings on cycling tourism development in this context. Primarily contributing to the body of knowledge on regional cycling tourism development in general the findings of this paper acknowledge the often-neglected local stakeholder perspective and indicate that stakeholders tend to focus more on internal (local) destination issues and relationships.
