Introduction: The sense of coherence and self-efficacy are the main of generalised resistance resources of the human being and can be treated as health factors. The main aim of this paper was an attempt to answer how the sense of coherence and self-efficacy change in drug dependent persons being treated with the therapeutic community method. Material and methods: Fifty-nine drug dependent patients aged 19-34 were undergoing therapeutic community treatment, 28 of whom in the detoxification centre in Smażyno and 31 in a similar centre in Grabowo. They were examined twice within a year by filling in the Sense of Coherence Scale (SOC-29), Generalized Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES) and a sociodemographic survey. Streszczenie

Introduction: The aim of the study was to analyse temporal orientation and its relationship with self-experience in drug dependent persons from Narcotics Anonymous (NA) community. The relationship between the dimensions of psychopathological self, temporal perspective and between sociodemographic variables and involvement in NA actions was examined. Material and methods: We investigated 30 persons (10 women, 20 men) from NA. The average age was 33.6, presence in NA – 66.1 months, duration of abstinence – 53.3 months. We applied the questionnaires: Time perception, “Carpe Diem”, EgoPsychopathology and a sociodemographic questionnaire. Results: Higher levels of education favour a positive perception of the past. The involvement (or not) in NA activities differentiates the study group in the measured psychological variables Streszczenie

Introduction: This paper presents the process of developing the Family Roles Questionnaire (FRQ) research tool, which measures the psychological roles played by young adults in their families. Material and methods: Following WegscheiderCruse roles/research scales of Hero, Mascot, Lost Child, and Scapegoat were distinguished. The role/scale of Iron Child was added to indicate an individual who doesn’t suffer any obvious mental damage despite growing in dysfunctional environment on the basis of multiple reports from the resilience trend. Psychometric verification has shown high Cronbach’s α reliability index, confirmatory factor analysis has shown sufficient match of tested model with data coming from Polish study sample within the domain of construct validity. Introduction: The purpose of the study was to assess mood and coping flexibility in group of adolescents using and not using marijuana, and recognise the nature of the relationship between mood and coping flexibility in the above mentioned groups. Material and methods: A total of 129 persons (34 girls and 95 boys) were included in the study from 16 to 19 years of age. Mean age in the study group was M = 17.36 (SD = 1.01). The following methods were used in the study: UWIST Mood Adjective Checklist (UMACL) by Matthews, Jones and Chamberlain in Polish adaptation by Goryńska, Coping Flexibility Scale (CFS) by Kato in the Polish adaptation by Basińska et al. and socio-demographic questionnaire. Results: Data analysis show that there are no differences in flexible coping between adolescent users and non-users of marijuana. There are differences between these two groups in mood. Introduction: The problem of comorbidity of disorders appears quite often in scientific publications. However, there is an area especially interesting for us: abnormal eating behaviour in alcohol-dependent women treated with the therapeutic community method. Material and methods: The aim of research was to verify the determinants of the propensity to develop eating disorders in women treated for alcohol dependence. The Eating Behaviour Questionnaire, the Cope Inventory and the Social Competence Profile were used for diagnosis. The study was conducted in a group of 60 women, 30 of whom were women with alcohol dependence and 30 healthy volunteers. Streszczenie

Introduction: The main aim of this paper is to present trends in the prevalence of psychoactive substance use among students from Iława, in comparison with trends observed in the ESPAD and the Warsaw/Mokotów studies. Material and methods: The Iława study has been conducted since December 2001, repeated in years 2005, 2010, 2012 and 2014, in the whole local population of 15-year old students (300 to 500 participants in each edition) applying always the same procedure. Trends in the prevalence of smoking, drinking alcohol and other psychoactive substance use were analysed.
