BIM-enhanced collaborative smart technologies for LEAN construction processes 面向精益建筑流程的bim增强协同智能技术

LEAN Management is rapidly gaining interest in the construction industry, while stakeholders have to improve productivity and efficiency of building processes. Such management methods and principles proved to be useful in other sectors (e.g. automotive), and most of the feedbacks in construction projects are positive, although it is recognized that important implementation efforts are required. In parallel, Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a key approach in making the projects' processes more fluent, transparent and integrated, although some barriers (both technological and contractual) make its adoption slower than it was initially expected. This article describes some findings of an action-research project investigating links between both approaches. It defines a two-steps technological proposal for LEAN methods, towards a full-BIM information system for LEAN management of construction processes. First, the Smart Construction Planner is a response for implanting digital LEAN methods at short-term, on construction sites. Second, a mapping of 4D/BIM uses to LEAN methods and principles defines the way to future LEAN/BIM IT developments.

Fuzzy inference system assisted inertial localization system 模糊推理系统辅助惯性定位系统

In this paper we present a novel IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) based indoor localization system assisted by a fuzzy inference system (FIS). The positioning is achieved by simply applying double integration to the acceleration data. And the accumulative position errors are eliminated by using FIS based acceleration restriction. In this way, the system can be used for general cases without any scenario and condition limitations. By considering smartphone as the IMU, it is also possible to realize applications such as navigation in the supermarket or guiding blind people through buildings. Indoor experiment has been carried out to verify the benefit of FIS based acceleration restriction. The experimental results show that the proposed new system is able to follow the true trajectory and achieve a tracking accuracy improvement of 84% in comparison to the one without FIS based acceleration restriction.

An examination of barriers to business model innovation 考察商业模式创新的障碍

Business models (BM) are the logic of a firm on how to create, deliver and capture value. Business model innovation (BMI) is essential to organisations for keeping competitive advantage. However, the existence of barriers to BMI can impact the success of a corporate strategic alignment. Previous research has examined the internal barriers to business model innovation, however there is a lack of research on the potential external barriers that could potentially inhibit business model innovation. Drawn from an in-depth case study in a German medium size engineering company in the equestrian sports industry, we explore both internal and external barriers to business model innovation. BMI is defined as any change in one or more of the nine building blocks of the Business Model Canvas; customer segment, value propositions, channels, customer relation, revenue streams, key resources, key activities, key partners, cost structure [1]. Our results show that barriers to business model innovation can be overcome by the deployment of organisational learning mechanisms and the development of an open network capability.

CGUW: A system software for heterogeneous IPC mechanism in grid computing environments CGUW:网格计算环境下异构IPC机制的系统软件

Interprocess communication mechanisms, one of the effective factors for response time in High performance computing. Existing standards for interprocess communication between a heterogeneous operating systems such as MPI implementation at library level lead to lower performance and Increase response time compared to implementation at the operating system kernel level. We propose an approach to enable the use of IPC in heterogeneous distributed systems such as grid computing. This mechanism uses distributed shared memory for communication between Linux and Windows operating systems. Windows IPC mechanism uses shared memory and remote procedural call. Linux Inter-process communication (IPC) converting Windows remote procedure call (RPC) to Proportional System V shared memory in kernel level. We propose wrapper for the use of our mechanism with distributed application.

Multi-objective consideration of earthquake resilience in the built environment: The case of Wenchuan earthquake 建筑环境抗震弹性的多目标考虑——以汶川地震为例

The 2008 Wenchuan earthquake is one of the largest and deadliest events of the last century, both in terms of victims and seismically-triggered geo-environmental hazards. The combined effects resulting from the seismic activity of 2008 led to major damages in several domains of the local society, including the built environment and the social component, highlighting the extensive gap related to resilience measures aimed at both prevention and recovery in case of a disruption. Thus, it is imperative for the development of a multi-objective and comprehensive formulation for resilience combining holistically all the diverse facets of a local community. To this regard, this paper presents a wide-spectrum analysis and preliminary findings, being structured in working threads specifically addressed in the context of an ongoing project (REACH). The focus is on the built environment damage analysis following the field work which took place in December 2016 in the Wenchuan territory, involving 3D laser scanning activity of 7 high-risk areas and the related audit and preliminary structural analysis of the damage. As a result, a set of external and internal factors have been identified as possible key causes of the surveyed damages. Of these, external factors mainly relate to environmental and hazardous properties, whereas internal indicators involve structural features as well as building regulations.

Moving from targeted acquisition to urban area modelling — increasing the scale of point cloud processing 从目标采集到城市区域建模——增加点云处理的规模

Handling real world, acquired point cloud data within a sector such as architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) is currently a difficult task. A highly desirable, future goal is to fully automate the scan-to-BIM process which at this time has a high dependency on manual work effort. Improvements within this workflow will speed up the production of detailed 3d building models and reduce associated costs. By increasing the level of automation in the scan-to-BIM process it becomes possible to speculate the expansion of the typical use case from a single structure, targeted acquisition towards urban area data collection and modelling. The scale and characteristic differences of an urban area point cloud dataset and that of a single structure create opportunities to validate the applicability of novel analytical approaches to process automation. A decrease in process complexity could be achieved by reducing both the depth of prerequisite knowledge and the level of intervention expected from an operator by a modelling platform. This would also provide an alternative perspective and an opportunity to model operator tasks at a higher, more abstract level. There lacks a completeness of modern documentation within preexisting civil structures. Building information modelling of the as-built condition can reduce overheads associated with key areas such as collaboration, maintenance, and future modifications. However, it is often made more difficult by a lack of accurate documentation due to the age of the building. A common trend that can be observed in countries such as the United Kingdom is that much of future building stock is already standing. Therefore, it is apparent the need to record the detailed, as-built condition of structures essentially from scratch will not resolve itself in the near future. This paper will overview a case study of an urban area modelling conducted in Ebbw Vale, Wales and introduces an abstract scan-to-BIM process automation methodology. This will be supported by a review of a selection of applied research literature. This paper is part of the early development stages of a point cloud processing platform, pcl_toolkit. The command line software aims to simplify approaches commonly associated with various point cloud processing tasks and provide a foundation for rapid development in the near future.

Fall risk evaluation by surface electromyography technology 表面肌电图技术评价跌倒风险

Falls are one of the main causes of disability and death among the elderly. Several inertial-based wearable devices for automatic fall and pre-fall detection have been realized. They use the threshold-based approach above all and their mean lead-time before the impact is about 200–500 ms. The main purpose of the work was to develop a framework for fall risk assessment considering the lower limb surface electromyography. The user's muscle behavior was chosen because it may allow a faster recognition of an imbalance event than the user's kinematic evaluation. Moreover, a machine learning scheme was adopted to overcome the drawbacks of well-known threshold approaches, in which the algorithm parameters have to be set according to the users' specific physical characteristics. Ten kinds of time-domain features, commonly used in the analysis of the lower-limb muscle activity, were investigated and the Markov Random Field based Fisher-Markov selector was used to reduce the signal processing complexity. The supervised classification phase was obtained through a low computational cost and a high classification accuracy Linear Discriminant Analysis. The developed system showed high performance in terms of sensitivity and specificity (about 90%) in controlled conditions, with a mean lead-time before the impact of about 775 ms.

Energy management in a public building: A case study co-designing the building energy management system 公共建筑的能源管理:共同设计建筑能源管理系统的案例研究

Buildings are important contributors to energy consumption accounting for around one-third of energy consumed in cities, where large public buildings are the dominant energy consumers. Accordingly, building energy management system (BEMS) can be defined as a system with combination of both intelligent and green building technology [1]. Previous literature has already presented a set of technical features of a BEMS. Therefore, in this paper, we shall focus on stakeholders of a BEMS and we aim at understanding how to engage and empower them in order to design a system that fits the needs of the different sub-groups in public buildings. We have tested the Living Lab method to co-design the BEMS, with a case study in a large public building. The main findings can be summarized as follow: the implication of all the stakeholders since the beginning is crucial to reduce failure risks. The establishment of a steering committee empowers key stakeholders to improve the BEMS. Information given by smart-meters installed to monitor energy consumption has to be transformed into actionable indicators to be helpful for the building service maintenance. Automatic advices based on algorithm should be proposed as, even though they might be more expensive. The proposed method offers a relevant contribution to the existing body of knowledge, as it allows BEMS designers to integrate the relevant stakeholders in the co-design of the system and describes how to proceed. In the future, we intend to apply our approach to other public buildings to further improve and validate the method.

On the interconnectedness of value network maturity and new technology-based firm survival 论价值网络成熟度与新技术企业生存的关联性

We examine to what extent a transaction relation-based value network maturity status of New Technology-Based Firms (NTBFs) is related to their survival. A specific challenge of NTBFs is their lack of market-orientation, which is why the maturity of the ties they form towards the market in terms of customers, financiers, personnel and partners is supposed to be a strong indicator for survival. We analyze a sample of 170 NTBFs by capturing their value network status from business plans and defining their survival status using secondary research. Simple statistical tests and regressions suggest that the official registration of the business is a pre-step for survival that requires industry-specific value network dimension strengths. A sub-sample survival analysis shows that for all NTBFs that have reached registration, regardless of their industry, a stronger customer value network maturity dimension prevents from failure and is thus a significant predictor for survival. Moreover, the analyses partly support the idea that NTBFs from the IT sector are less dependent on a strong value network in the financier dimension to survive. The results are of relevance for both practitioners and researchers in the innovation system: a better understanding of the factors impacting on NTBF survival can help to provide more tailored support services for young firms, increase the effectiveness of resource allocations, and provide a basis for further research.

Capability profile for enterprise application integration 用于企业应用程序集成的能力概要文件

Open source applications are becoming more and more important and many companies use these applications in their own work to realize projects faster, better and cheaper. But in some cases, the entire use of an open source application is not necessary, with the need to use only one functionality of an open source application to link or integrate it with another application. This paper presents a positioning for a framework to use open source application decomposition in specific functionalities (features) as conceptual view for enterprise applications integration. The decomposed feature will be exposed as an Application Programming Interface (API) to support enterprise integration. Our solving approach uses a standardized methodology for manufacturing software interoperability through capability profiling provided by the ISO 16100 series, and which is also applicable and usable for developing general software applications including enterprise applications.
