One of the important indicators of the level of scientific and technological development of a country is the number and quality of publications produced therein. Such publications listed in international citation indexes tend to function as a leverage to streamline the scientific, human and economic development. Citations to these publications show the contribution of that country to the science in general, too. This paper investigates some of the bibliometric characteristics (impact factors, article influence scores, quartile and percentile values, and h indices) of journals that are published in Turkey and indexed in the Web of Science citation databases. Based on journal impact factors (and the other measures based thereon), a comparative review of the progress between 2006 and 2015 and the impact of Thomson Reuters’ regional expansion policy on journals has been carried out. Findings show that the impact factors of journals, although relatively improved, have not increased as much as is desired during this period. The impact of papers published in these journals is well below that of the world average of all journals in their respective subjects. Findings are discussed in relation to Thomson Reuters’ regional expansion policy and their implications are interpreted in the context of academic promotion and research assessment policies currently in effect in Turkey.

The aim of this work is to understand the personal experiences of Department of Information and Records Management (IRM) students engaged in information search processes, to determine whether there are misconceptions about the processes, and if so to find out which misconceptions exist. The research is based on the model of Kuhlthau's six-staged Information Search Process (BAS). The data were obtained using a semi-structured interview technique with 13 Ankara University IRM students using purposeful sampling. The data were analysed using the content analysis method. It was determined that the students had misconceptions related to the BAS’s stages of “topic selection”, “information collection”, “search closure”, alongside “determination of research methods” and “research paper” which were classified into the “others” category. This evidence indicates that misconceptions can prevent students from performing effectively and efficiently in their information search processes. The results of this research should make an important contribution to library staff, trainers and information retrieval system designers.

In this study, satisfaction levels of the public library users are found out within the scope of “innovative service” and relation of “satisfaction-innovativeness” is evaluated. The population of the study is comprised of Bartin Ulus Culture and Arthouse Public Library users. Within the scope of the study, satisfaction questionnaire including three sections was applied to 185 persons, including 109 female and 76 male. As a result of the study, library users were found out to have high level of satisfaction about innovative service. Within this context, it was found out that Bartin Ulus Kultur ve Sanatevi Public Library innovative service approach positively affected the user satisfaction.

This research, carried out by the descriptive method, aims to determine the level and quality of reading habits of the librarians working in public libraries in Ankara. In this study all staff with a degree in Departments of Information Management (Librarianship) and who serves on the library directors, deputy directors and librarian were defined as librarians. The scope of the research consists of 53 librarians working in public libraries in Ankara. In this survey, a questionnaire with 32 questions wasapplied, 38 responses were received from the questionnaire and 72% of the universe has been reached. According to the research result; librarians working in public libraries in Ankara have a moderate level of reading habits. Librarians read books in a selective but irregularway. While 53% of librarians think that they have reading habits, only 32% of public librarians have a high level of reading habits. Various suggestions are presented in the light of the results obtained in the research.

Everyone knows that those who make history are women and men; but since history, writers are not women, their efforts, their worries, their aspirations are scarce in history. At least it has been such a long time. That is why it was not possible for women turn their struggles into continuous gains for ages. A permanent memory is needed so that what has happened in the past, all the sufferings, all the efforts, should not be forgotten. Just as other women in the world, creating their own memories in Turkey is decisive in terms of freedom struggle. The Women’s Library contributes to the efforts of those who want to investigate women's history by collecting the materials needed and by constantly expanding and offering necessary materials, thus contributing to our knowledge of our grandmothers’ past by making their voices heard and building a freer future for not only women but for our all society.

Gorsel kultur insan yapisi her urunu icine aldigindan, gunluk hayattaki karsi karsiya kaldigimiz gorsel urunler; bol alternatifli gorsel gerceklikler gunluk hayatimizin kendisini olusturmaktadir.
