Influence of Procurement Training Strategies on Delivery of Pharmaceutical Products in Public Health Facilities in Subukia Sub County, Nakuru 采购培训策略对纳库鲁subbukia县公共卫生机构药品交付的影响

Pharmaceutical services are one of the key activities that sustain health care systems. If they are not properly managed, it can lead to massive challenges in the health care including deaths and disabilities. Training in the procurement of the pharmaceutical products forms one of the basic requirements for a sound procurement process. If the staffs are all trained in the pharmaceutical procurement process, there are likelihood of stock outs, overstocking, poor quality products, highly priced commodities and delays in the delivery of the pharmaceutical products. Nakuru County being one of the forty seven counties in Kenya has a large population that mainly seeks medical attention in government health facilities within the county. This study therefore focused on how training strategies was to improve on pharmaceutical products delivery in Subukia Sub County. The researcher was guided by three theories in his work, namely cognitive theory, Innovation theory and the Devolution theory. The target population for the study was 198 staffs working in the 11 health institutions. The sample size was 132 staff members. The sampling was both simple random and stratified sampling involving Pharmacy department, Facility in charges, Procurement department, Human Resource department, Training department (capacity building) and Store department. Both qualitative and quantitative data was collected by use of structured questionnaires, through which primary and secondary data was obtained. The collected data was then analysed using SPSS and presented. The research findings were discussed and analysed in form of tables. It was found that there was a specific procurement area taught and the training materials were adequate. Moreover, the competence of trainers influenced the outcome of training. It was also found that there was monitoring of the allocated procurement training resources and that there was a fair availability of the training equipment. The R – is the multiple correlation coefficients which was at 58% considered as one of the measure of the quality of prediction of the dependent variable (pharmaceutical product delivery) in the study. It was concluded that there was a significant relationship between the qualification of the procurement trainers and the pharmaceutical products delivery in Subukia Sub County Public Health Facilities. The researcher recommended for a specific selection of procurement training content depending on the need of participants.

Assessment of Use of Competency Based Pay System in Enhancing Employees Productivity in State Corporations in Nakuru Town, Kenya 对肯尼亚纳库鲁镇国有企业运用能力薪酬制度提高员工生产力的评估

Competency based pay system is very crucial to all organizations and institutions; public and private. Competency-based pay system being offered in the public, which aims to produce capable workers who are responsive to customers' demands by providing quality services, one would expect that there would be improvement on productivity. Thus, this research assessed the use of competency based pay system in enhancing employee productivity in state corporations in Nakuru town. This is against the backdrop of a cry from members of the public regarding underperformance and wastage of tax in the county governments. In spite of exorbitant taxes that are being levied on Kenyans by their respective county governments, there is a deeply-seated feeling that the services rendered to them are below their expectations. The independent variables for the study were skill based pay, performance based pay and the level of employees training on employees productivity which is the dependent variable. It was guided by three theories which include resource based theory, agency theory, reinforcement theory. The study was conducted on 17 state corporations within Nakuru town. The study employed descriptive research design. The target population comprised of the 91 employees attached to human resource department and other heads of other departments of state corporations in Nakuru town. A structured questionnaire was used to collect primary data from the respondents. A pilot test was used to assess both reliability and validity of the research instrument. The collected data was analyzed by use of descriptive and inferential statistics, and with the aid of the statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) software. The study established that skill based pay, performance based pay and training all has significant influence on employee productivity.

Effect of Cash Conversion Cycle Management on the Profitability of Industrial and Domestic Product Firms in Nigeria 现金转换周期管理对尼日利亚工业和国内产品企业盈利能力的影响

The study examined the effect of cash conversion cycle on the profitability of Industrial and Domestic product firms in Nigeria. Receivable ratio, payable ratio and Inventory ratio, were the variables studied in this study. Data were sourced from the annual reports of the selected Industrial and Domestic companies in Nigeria. Generalized least square multiple regression analytical tool was used to test the Hypotheses. The findings show that, AR and AP had significant positive effect on the industries’ profitability ratio at 1% level of significance. On the other hand, the industries’ INV had significant but negative effect on the profitability ratio at 1% level of significance.

Management Support as Determinants of Green Logistics Implementation Management at Motor Vehicle Industry in Kisumu, Kenya 管理支持:肯尼亚基苏木机动车行业绿色物流实施管理的决定因素

This research analyzed green logistics implementation management in motor vehicle industry in Kisumu. The study analysed management support as determinant of green logistics implementation management. The target population for this study included all the employees working in the selected motor vehicle industry in Kisumu which were, CMC motors, General Motors and Subaru motors. These were the sales executive, the technicians, parts sales, the administrators and the managers. Data was collected by use of structured questionnaires that were be issued by the researcher and collected later for analysis. Multiple regression analysis was used to establish the relationship between dependent and independent variables. Descriptive analysis such as frequencies, percentages, mean and mode were used to describe the independent and dependent variable while inferential analysis was used to test relationship between management support and green logistics implementation management. The results were presented using tables and associated interpretation. The study found out that management support is a significant factor towards green logistics implementation management. It was concluded that green logistics is significantly affected by management support revealing that management of the motor vehicle industry should place more emphasis on green logistics implementation management. Management of motor vehicle industries should play a key role in ensuring that green logistics implementation management is fully realized in order to conserve our environment for sustainability. Further research should be done to establish the level of awareness of employees of motor vehicle industry on information communication technology, organizations environmental policy and economic benefits resulting from green logistics implementation management.

This study was intended to establish the influence of user involvement in procurement decisions making on purchasing performance in Kenya Police College, Kiganjo. The study was a survey as primary data was collected for the purpose of the study. The target population for the study included all employees in Kenya Police College, Kiganjo. All the employees were involved in the study making this a census study. The study was guided by Consumer Involvement Theory and Principal-Agency Theory. Data was collected through structured questionnaires that were issued through drop and pick technique. Collected data were coded and analyzed through SPSS and presented through tables accompanied by relevant discussions. The research variables were studied through descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) while the influence of end user involvement on purchasing performance was studied through inferential statistics (correlation and regression analysis). F-test was used to test research hypotheses. A multiple regression model was developed to guide the study. The findings revealed a statistically significant influence of user involvement on specification development, purchasing planning and tender evaluation on performance of purchasing activities. The study recommends that management of Kenya Police College, Kiganjo as well as other public organizations should consider involving users in specification development and purchasing planning while the procurement function should provide guidance during the process. Tender evaluation should be conducted by well constituted and well informed committee. Further studies should be conducted to establish the role of end users in development of organizational procurement policies such as e-procurement, procure to pay etc. Similarly, study should be conducted to establish factor hindering end user involvement in purchasing activities especially in public organizations.

A game model is designed to analyze the relation between employee’s ability structure and enterprise’s incentive structure. And some factors’ impaction on incentive structure is analyzed, such as employee’s ability, risk aversion, output error, and product price. The intrinsic mechanism of employee classification according to their ability level is also analyzed. The result reveals that under competitive working environment employee’s ability level should be kept consistent, employee with different ability levels can’t be classified by themselves, and piece rates should be kept direct ratio to employee’s ability level and product’s market trend. Although strict balanced incentive structure comprises of fixed wage and prize or promotion, balanced conditions can not usually be satisfied in real situation, so that fixed wage, piece rate wage, and prize or promotion should be combined to form a suitable proportion structure. Prize or promotion mechanism will strengthen the steepness degree of incentive structure, which will strengthen incentive effect under the condition of employee’s participation restriction.

The aim of this study is to investigate the factors that influence to Muslim tourists’ intention to revisit Islamic-friendly hospital. This study contributes practice and management implications that assist in motivating Islamic medical tourism service. As the objective of this paper is to measure the Muslim medical tourists’ perception for Islamic medical tourism services in Malaysia, this study applied partial least square (PLS) technique to test the conceptual model. Data is collected using structural questionnaire from Islamic-friendly hospital in Kuala Lumpur. The sample included 238 effective Muslim medical tourists who had visited Malaysia. The results show that healthcare providers’ behaviour, Shariah compliance practices, healthcare ethics and safety/security have a positive impact on attitudes and satisfaction. In contrast, healthcare ethics has no significant relationship with satisfaction, whilst, attitudes have a significant relationship with satisfaction. In addition, the results also revealed that attitudes and satisfaction have a significant impact on intention to revisit towards Islamic-friendly hospital. Malaysia needs to introduce and promote Islamic-friendly medical tourism services attracting more Muslim patients from different Muslim and non-Muslim countries. This study contributes a foundation for future research for Islamic-friendly medical tourism service delivery perception and expectations in the fast increasing medical service tourism industry.

The use of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software had become increasingly more common in a lot of today’s businesses; it is adopted in many firms in attempts of improving business performance. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of ERP interface on service delivery in procurement function of GDC. The study adopted descriptive research and was a case study. ERP interfaces were the independent variable while service delivery was the dependent variable. Procurement department of Geothermal Development Company, Nakuru was used as a case and consequently, employees of Geothermal Development Company Nakuru constitute the target population for the study. The study was guided by innovation diffusion theory and theory of constraints. The study involved employees from Procurement, Stores, Registry, Finance and ICT departments in the organization. 115 employees in the five departments constituted the target population for the study. 99 employees were selected through stratified random sampling to be involved in the study. Selected employees from the five departments were issued with questionnaires that contain research items on every research variable. The collected data were coded and analyzed by use of SPSS. The independent and dependent research variables were analyzed descriptively using means and standard deviation while the influence of ERP interface on service delivery was analyzed inferentially using regression analysis. A multiple regression model was developed and used to guide the study. The findings of the study were presented using tables and every table was explained. The study concluded that ERP interfaces both individually and collectively have significant influence on service delivery. The study recommended that ERP interfaces should be adopted by organizations to enhance service delivery. Further study were recommended to establish the role of organizational culture in adoption of ERP interfaces, to develop a theory that would explain the direct link between ERP and service delivery and to establish whether there are specific determinants of ERP adoption unique for manufacturing and service organizations.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of inventory control strategies on inventory record accuracy in Kenya Power Nakuru. The study looked at three inventory control strategies; cycle counting, inventory coding and computerized inventory accuracy. The three variables were individually and collectively related with inventory records accuracy. The study adopted a descriptive survey. The target populations for the study were the employees in Kenya Power Nakuru working in procurement, stores and finance departments. Since there are only 42 employees in the departments, all the employees were involved in the study as respondents. The researcher conducted a pilot study to test for validity and reliability of the research instruments before the actual study. Data was then collected through structured questionnaires that were self-administered by the researcher. Collected data was analyzed both descriptively and inferentially. Descriptive statistics was used to describe the study variables while correlation and regression analysis was used to relate the research variables. Single tailed t-test was used to test the hypotheses in the study. The study established that inventory control practices have significant positive influence on inventory records accuracy. The study recommends that public companies as well as private companies adopt inventory control practices as they are likely to experience enhanced efficiency and effectiveness in inventory records. The study suggests that further study is conducted to assess the role of management in implementing inventory control practices and whether inventory control practices can enhance operational performance of an organization.

Many financial institutions in developing countries provide financial services such as saving and Credit to aid several smallholder enterprises including farmers. This is an effort in line with the Millennium development goals which seeks to reduce poverty by 50% by the year 2015. However, the sustainability and continuity of the financial institutions to increase the volume of credit to stimulate the poverty reduction goal depends on the repayment rates. However many of the financial institutions have not been able to carry out these services effectively perhaps because of loan defaults of previous advances. The study used descriptive type of design. This is the design whose purpose is to provide a description of affairs as they are. The main objective of the research was to identify the determinant of loan repayment by borrowers in micro financial institutions in Nakuru County. Specific objectives were to determine the significance of level of education, level of income and age of borrowers as a determinant of loan repayment in Micro Financial Institutions in Nakuru County. The target population comprised a total of 590 loan borrowers and employees of Micro Financial institutions out of which a sample of 10%was picked using stratified random sampling on each stratum out of which a simple random was done to pick the respondent from the list of borrowers and employees, which enable every member of the population have an equal and independent chance of being selected as respondents and also simplest, most convenient and bias free selection method. The cross sectional data was collected by use of questionnaire. The data was analyzed using linear multiple regression model which quantified the determinants while the descriptive statistics was analyzed by use of frequency tables and percentages pie charts. The results showed that education level, income level and age negative were significant determinants of loan repayment. The study recommends that borrowers with low levels of income and education should be encouraged to take up loan since they are associated with loan repayment than their counterparts respectively. The study from the sample also recommends that youths should be taken serious because they are also associated with loan repayment. Nevertheless Most MFLs were going concern.
