Objective To analyze the pediatric residents' competencies aiming at providing references for improving the quality of pediatric resident training and remodeling post-graduate education. Methods One hundred and eighty-four pediatric residents from Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine Affiliated Hospital participated in this cross-section investigation from December 2018 to February 2019. Using the cognitive questionnaire of pediatric residents' post competency to investigate the resident. Results Up to 45.7%(84/184)of respondents failed to define the competency. Within the top 11 competencies pediatric residents ranked, there was only one item "effective use of communication skills" in communication ability, and its importance score (4.67 ± 0.63), and there was no entry in the medical humanities literacy ranking in the top 11. Conclusions The awareness rate of resident positions is not high. In the standardized training of residents, the cultivation of medical humanities and communication skills were weak. Staged and hierarchical pediatric resident competency evaluation criteria should be developed. Key words: Pediatrics; Resident physician; Competency; Cognition

Objective To analyze the influence of different academic qualifications on the results of standardized training graduation exam of surgical residents, and to put forward corresponding suggestions for formulating training plans for surgical residents. Methods From 2014 to 2016, 1 387 surgical residents in Beijing were selected as the subjects for the study, and the related factors were analyzed retrospectively. According to the highest academic qualifications obtained by the candidates in the examination, the candidates are divided into bachelor group, master group and doctor group. Using the methods of difference analysis, chi-square test and logistic regression analysis, the scores of different modules of the 7-station and the passing rates of the three groups of candidates in clinical skill examination are compared. Results Among 1 387 candidates, 540 were in the bachelor group, 460 were in the master group and 387 were in the doctor group. There was a significant difference about passing rate among bachelor group 63.9% (345/540) , master group 74.2% (341/460) and doctor group 75.7% (293/387) (P 0.05). Multivariate ANOVA analysis showed that among bachelor group, master group and doctor group, the scores of assistant examinations [(73.90±8.25) vs (75.76±8.86) vs (77.26±8.25)], medical documents [(69.71±22.85) vs (66.86±23.19) vs (72.17±23.40)], case analysis [(83.82±10.18) vs (83.43±8.14) vs (85.18±7.84)], humanistic communication [(87.62±8.05) vs (87.86±23.19) vs (72.17±23.40)] have significant differences (All P 0.05). Conclusions The standardized training programs of surgical residents with different degrees should be different. In terms of training design, doctor degree students should mainly fill in the shortcomings such as surgical operation, and the training period of rotation can be reduced or exempted. The rotation period for master degree students should not be reduced, however, their traning plan should focus more on filling in the shortcomings. Bachelor degree students should conduct systematic clinical training in accordance with the training program. Key words: Residents; Standardized training; Surgery; Education; Skill examination

Objective To study the application effect of the "case experience" model in improving the adaptability and communication ability of medical graduate students. Methods A total of 90 professional postgraduate students who were internships in the surgical system of our hospital from April to September 2018 were selected as subjects. There were 45 cases for the experimental group and the control group respectively. The students in the experimental group self-directed and acted according to the medical conflict cases, experiencing the situation, and discussing the cause of the accident or dispute, and were consulted by the experts of the medical department. The control group directly studied the case text material. Questionnaires were used to analyze and compare the teaching effects of the two groups of students. Results Compared with the control group, there was a significant difference in the way the students in the experimental group chose to deal with physiotherapy conflicts: exercise forbearance[15.6%(7/45)vs 48.9%(22/45)], seek help[77.8%(35/45) vs 24.4%(11/45)], face to face[6.7%(3/45) vs 26.7%(12/45)], (P=0.024).84.4%(38/45)experimental group studentshad got a more reasonable treatment. Conclusions The "case experience" model allows students to more intuitively understand the causes of medical malpractices or disputes, and learn the methods and techniques of treatment to enhance the conflicts dealing and communication skills of medical graduate students. Objective To explore the effect of using disease spectrum in dermatology education. Methods The disease spectrum-based teaching and the traditional teaching method were utilized to 100 undergraduate students enrolled in 2013 and 2014 and 124 postgraduate students and 50 doctoral students enrolled in 2016 majoring in clinical medicine at Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University from September to December 2017. A self-made related questionnaire was designed and distributed to these students. Then we analyzed the problems existing in the traditional method and compared the difference in the teaching effect between the disease spectrum-based teaching and the traditional one. Moreover, the suggestions for applying the teaching method of disease spectrum were also proposed by students. Results Approximately 62.0% (170/274) of the students believe that there are too many kinds of dermatoses while only a few of them were taught in the traditional method. Therefore, it is a great challenge for students or junior doctors to diagnose some dermatosis when facing a large variety of skin eruptions in clinical practice. Nearly 69.3% (190/274) of students were not familiar with the disease spectrum dermatology. Compared with the traditional teaching method, it is significantly more effective to memorize the dermatology knowledge by the disease spectrum-based method [(4.89±1.84) vs (6.75±1.75), P<0.01], and more helpful to comprehend the knowledge [(5.19± 1.99) vs (6.96±1.76), P<0.01] and to carry out clinical practice [(5.21±1.99) vs (6.89±1.88), P<0.01]. As high as 76.3% (209/274) of students believe that the method of disease spectrum has advantages in helping students to learn knowledge macroscopically and master more diseases. Conclusions The teaching efficiency of dermatology education can be improved via the disease spectrum-based method. Key words: Dermatology; Disease spectrum; Teaching method; Teaching effect
