A Comparison of Practical Electric Vehicle Charging Policies to Improve the Performance of Power Distribution Systems 提高配电系统性能的实用电动汽车充电策略比较

Electric vehicles (EVs) lend a new paradigm to the transportation sector while introducing different challenges to the power distribution grid. The EV load presents an unbalanced, dynamic load, depending upon the number of charging EVs at any instant connected to the different phases, the type(s) of the EV(s) connected, the starting time(s) of the EV charging and the charging duration(s), all of which are random functions of time. Hence, it becomes difficult to analyze the impact of EV charging on the distribution networks. In this paper, the domestic EV charging effect of about 3000 EVs pertaining to more than 800 U. S. residents on a 240-bus real distribution grid situated in the Midwest U.S.A is investigated using well-known travel survey data from the National Household Travel Survey (NHTS). Multiple case studies are carried out on the 240-bus network vis-à-vis profiles of the network demand, bus voltages and system losses without and with EV charging. The distortion in the network daily load profile, the bus voltage profile and the network losses can be reduced by implementing practical SOC based EV charging policies. Three SOC based EV charging policies are suggested. The results validate the proposed EV charging guidelines.

Detection and Analysis of Fraud Phone Calls using Artificial Intelligence 利用人工智能检测和分析诈骗电话

With an increase advancement of technology, fraud phone calls, including spams and malicious calls have become a major concern in telecommunication industry and causes millions of global financial losses every year. Fraudulent phone calls or scams and spams via telephone or mobile phone have become a common threat to individuals and organizations. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) has emerged as powerful tools in detecting and analyzing fraud or malicious calls. This paper presents an overview of AI-based fraud or spam detection and analysis techniques, along with its challenges and potential solutions. The novel fraud call detection approach is proposed that achieved high accuracy and precision. The Proposed approach was evaluated using a dataset of real-world fraudulent calls. And results demonstrate that the approach achieved high accuracy in detecting malicious calls and identifying potential indicators of frauds or spams. The analysis of fraud calls also provided insights into the tactics and methods employed by fraudsters, which can be used to develop countermeasures.

Cost and Feasibility Analysis of a Solar-Powered Water Pumping System 太阳能水泵系统的成本与可行性分析

A solution of an economically viable and efficient solar-powered water pumping system in remote water-scarce areas is proposed and analyzed which is based on the reduced use of converter stages in combination with efficient maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controller based on fuzzy logic. Further, Brushless DC (BLDC) motor is used here for efficient water pumping as it is free of excitation loss as in case of an induction motor. The proposed system consisting of a single-stage voltage source inverter uses battery backup for uninterrupted flow which is also controlled by taking MPPT controller output duty as one of the inputs. Consequently, a MATLAB-based model is used to analyze the system’s performance and economic feasibility of the proposed model is also analyzed. The cost of our proposed model was estimated using Homer software, and it was then compared to the cost of the model which uses a DC motor and DC-DC converter proposed by other researchers. It was found from the simulation results that the proposed model costs much lesser i.e., 6 lakhs as compared to other models. Thus, the proposed model is cost effective and efficient regardless of the weather, making it convenient and user-friendly for those who live in remote places and thereby providing help to solve the biggest problem of water crises.

Employing an ECC-Based Hybrid Data Encryption Method to Improve Multitenancy Security in Cloud Computing 采用基于ecc的混合数据加密方法提高云计算中的多租户安全性

Due to reduced key size, Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) was utilized in this study for tenant authentication, data encryption, and decryption. The proposed ECC-based authentication technique efficiently defends against many related threats while allowing authorized users access to confidential data. The authors choose the exact and ideal values of elliptic curves to provide more secure data encryption by combining nature-inspired optimizations like the Moth Search Algorithm (MSA) with ECC. The DNS encryption and the ECC encryption technique are combined in the proposed encryption and decryption method. Analysis of the proposed method's security shows that it is effective against certain types of attacks, including denial-of-service attacks, spoofing attacks, reaction attacks, and simple both the selected ciphertext attack and text attacks.

Convolutional Neural Networks for Implementing Opposition Control in Turbulent Channel Flows 基于卷积神经网络的湍流通道对抗控制

Opposition control is an innovative technique that has shown promise for reducing turbulence intensity and wall shear stress in turbulent channel flow. The objective of the present work is to develop a Multi Input Multi Output Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) for accurately estimating and controlling the flow in a turbulent channel at a bulk Reynolds number of 3000. We focus on using all three variables, namely, wall pressure, spanwise and streamwise shear-stresses, as inputs to the CNN architecture to predict the wall-normal velocity at different heights of the detection plane (z+ = 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30). The dataset for training the CNN is generated from Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) of a turbulent channel flow to extract spatial wall information. The correlation coefficients (ρw) between the actual and predicted wall-normal velocities are found to be very high, with values of 0.99, 0.97, 0.94, 0.86, and 0.85 at z+ = 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30, respectively. We also calculated the R2 score, which confirmed the high accuracy of the MIMO-CNN model in predicting wall-normal velocity fluctuations. This indicates the effectiveness of the proposed MIMO-CNN architecture in accurately estimating the flow field in a turbulent channel.

A Computer Vision based Vehicle Counting and Speed Detection System 基于计算机视觉的车辆计数与速度检测系统

The number of vehicles on the roads are increasing with every passing year. Appropriate measures are required to gain some information about the traffic density for traffic management. Moreover, higher the number of vehicles on roads, higher are the chances of rash driving and Overspeeding. This paper addresses the issue by proposing a vision-based approach to estimate vehicle speed and set up an overall vehicle counter as well a counter of vehicles belonging to different classes. This paper provides practical significance for traffic management on roads. The implementation requires three steps: video acquisition, object detection and multiple object tracking. After video acquisition, the task of vehicle detection is done using YOLOv5 which also classifies the vehicle. To track multiple vehicles in every passing frame of the video, we have used the StrongSORT algorithm which is an improvement of DeepSORT algorithm. The research experiment provided an accuracy of 85.27% for vehicle detection. The accuracy for speed of the vehicles was 87.9% with marginal room for errors from their ground truth values. Moreover, the model performs well in terms of counting the number of vehicles.

In recent years, cloud computing has become the preferred method for delivering effective internet services. Within this field, serverless computing has emerged as a standout approach, providing flexibility and agility for building complex applications. Quantification of Gait Disorder from Asymmetry in Explicit and Implicit Gait Measures of Hemiplegic Post-Stroke Individuals using a Wearable System 使用可穿戴系统对脑卒中后偏瘫患者的显式和隐式步态测量中不对称引起的步态紊乱进行量化

Hemiplegic individuals are characterized by reduction in their ability on the paretic side leading to gait asymmetry and proneness to fall while walking. Gait asymmetry can be quantified in terms of asymmetry in implicit (related to lower limb muscle activation) and explicit (e.g., step time, %stance, etc.) measures. Although the implicit and explicit measures can be complementary in nature, yet none of the previous studies have looked into the asymmetry in both the explicit and implicit measures of gait of hemiplegic individuals. This is necessary, since similar walking pattern can possibly cause different lower limb muscle activation (affecting implicit measures), though the explicit measures of gait might remain the same/different. Thus, investigating the complementarity in such measures is crucial. Again, the asymmetry measures can be pronounced when one executes multiple tasks during walking simultaneously. In our present study, we computed the asymmetry in the implicit and explicit measures of gait in a time- synched manner by using a wearable system. We conducted a study with 12 healthy and 14 age-matched hemiplegic individuals who walked under single, dual, and multiple task (MTC) conditions. Results of hierarchical clustering showed the importance of complementarity in the asymmetry of implicit and explicit measures under MTC while distinguishing those with gait disorder from their healthy counterparts (classification accuracy: 88%) and identifying the extent of the disorder (classification accuracy: ~85%). Also, the asymmetry in these measures under MTC was found to have clinical relevance with regard to fear of fall.

Enhanced 3D U-Net Segmentation Architecture for the Detection and Localization of Brain Tumor 增强的三维U-Net分割体系用于脑肿瘤的检测和定位

Brain Tumor is rapidly growing problem these days for every age group of people, and thus to accurately detect a tumor, it is essential that we render to automatic brain tumor segmentation. In this study, semantic 3D U-Net segmentation architecture is proposed using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Basically this method not only detects the tumor but also convey the location of a tumor. In this, we have applied multiple preprocessing techniques for better results and the resultant of these multiple techniques is fed to the proposed architecture of U-Net. This paper has also tried to minimize the mean-variance problem, handle the different sizes of tumor and also to deal with address imbalance problem. In this study, different parameters are evaluated in terms of brain tumor segmentation i.e. Dice similarity coefficient, Sensitivity, Specificity, Accuracy and Mean IoU. In the study, three classification models have also been used to evaluate the survival rate. The experiments have been evaluated using BraTS 2020 dataset with 98.91% accuracy for segmentation task.

Design and analysis of DPSK and DQPSK modulated UD-WDM system at different data rates for long-haul communication 远距离通信中不同数据速率的DPSK和DQPSK调制UD-WDM系统的设计与分析

Advanced modulation techniques play an important role in high-speed data transmission. For this research work, a 400-channel ultra-dense wavelength division multiplexed (UD-WDM) system is designed and simulated using 100 Gb/s and 160 Gb/s per channel transmission data rates along with channel spacing of 0.2 nm. The designed system is based on two highly spectral efficient modulation techniques, namely differential phase-shift keying (DPSK) and differential quadrature phase-shift keying (DQPSK). The performance of both modulation techniques is analyzed using some performance parameters such as received output power, Quality factor (Q-factor), and bit error rate (BER) with varying transmission distances from 100-2000 km. The results obtained from the simulation show that the DQPSK-based UD-WDM system performs better than the DPSK-based UD-WDM system in terms of Q-factor, BER, and received output power for both 100 Gb/s data rate as well as 160 Gb/s data rate because it is more tolerant to linear and nonlinear effects. At 100 Gb/s data rate for the DQPSK modulated system, the minimum BER value of 10-12, the output power of -36 dBm, and the Q-factor of 15 dB are reported. The minimum BER value of 10-8, maximum Q-factor of 12.2 dB, and the output power of -31 dBm are reported for DQPSK modulated system at 160 Gb/s data rate.
