Determination of the physiological effects of diabetic retinopathy disease from Video-Oculography (VOG) signals using discrete wavelet transform 用离散小波变换从视频视觉成像(VOG)信号中确定糖尿病视网膜病变的生理效应

The insulin hormone secreted from the pancreas gland in the body is not present in sufficient amount, or because they do not fit, which is defined as the elevation of blood glucose “Diabetes Mellitus (Diabetes)”. “Diabetic Retinopathy” is the most common in diabetes-related eye diseases. It had done damages in the retina that detect light on behind the eye as a result of changes in the arteries that is one of the reasons that makes blindness (loss of vision) in people. In this study, horizontal and vertical Video-Oculography (VOG) signals captured by using internal tracking camera in Metrovision MonPackOne Electrooculography device. In order to filter the noise from the signals, the wavelet transform method was used. Obtained signals have shown that the signals of diabetic retinopathy patients have higher amplitude and irregular characteristic than the signals obtained from healthy groups. In both groups, significant Daubechies-6 wavelet coefficients (A6-D6) gave better results than Daubechies-4 wavelet coefficients (A4-D4). Obtained data as a result of using wavelet transform sheds light on feature extraction and classification in proposed future works.

Investigation of single stranded DNA-magnetic nanoparticle interaction by magneto-optical linear dichroism 磁光线性二色性研究单链dna -磁性纳米颗粒相互作用

In this study, interaction of produced magnetic fluid with single stranded DNA was investigated by using designed magneto-optical linear dichroism (MOCS) system. Fe3O4 nanoparticles, produced by using co-precipitation method were characterized by means of structure, magnetic, and size distribution. These nanoparticles coated with oleic acid and TMA in water and ethanol. Change of the linear dichroism property of fluid under applied magnetic field was observed due to the interaction of produced magnetic fluid with single stranded DNA. Obtained results were shown that it is possible to develop a single strand DNA sensor by using MOCS effect.

Investigation of luminance effect on the emotional assessment using Hjorth descriptors 亮度对Hjorth描述符情绪评价的影响研究

The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of luminance level on the emotional evaluation from electroencephalography (EEG) records. EEG recordings obtained from 31 healty partipicants were used in this study. Featıres were obtained from EEG recordings using short time fourier transform (STFT) and Hjorth descriptors. According to the performance evaluation results (accuracy percentage), the value of the attributes of 70.97% of partipicants obtained from EEG recordings using the ORIGINAL negative visual stimule to be greater than the values of the attributes obtained from EEG recordings using the BRIGHT negative visual stimule were found. This observation was observed in the O2 electrode spatially region and delta frequency. This study is the beginning research on this subject and it is considered the results of this study will shed light on the issue.

Analysis of electrooculogram signals from students before and after exam 学生考试前后的眼电信号分析

Electrooculogram is record of eye movement using surface electrodes. EOG signals are analyzed in many areas using various methods. In this study, EOG signals were recorded from male and female volunteer university students before and after exam to examine capability of following visual stimulant. Volunteers followed visual test program on computer. In the meantime EOG signals were recorded simultaneously. Zero-crossings of the EOG signals were examined in order to analyze the ratio of following success. As a result, zero-crossing number that calculated from EOG signals, created significant difference in women after exam.

Investigation of the temperature effect of ultrasound used in cancer therapy 超声温度效应在肿瘤治疗中的应用研究

In present study, temperature rise in a tissue — mimicking material induced by a HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) transducer was examined with two different methods. In order to determine the temperature rise inside and distribution on the surface of a Tissue-Mimicking Material (TMM), T-type thermocouple (TC) temperature sensors and infrared (IR) camera system was used in the first and second method respectively. During the ultrasonic power application, temperature increase and distribution in the TMM have been represented. Temperature measurements were realized inside a TMM which has characteristics very similar to human liver tissue. Temperature rise has been measured for different input ultrasonic powers and durations. Two different temperature measuring tools were compared and consistency between these methods was presented.

Comparison of estimation methods for missing value imputation of gene expression data 基因表达数据缺失值估算方法的比较

Control and correction process of missing values (imputation of MVs) is the first stage of the preprocessing of microarray datasets. This paper focuses on a comparison of most reliable and up to date estimation methods to control and correct the missing values. Imputation of MVs has a very high priority because of its impact on next pre-processing and post-processing stages of microarray data analysis namely, quality control, normalization, differential gene expression, classification, clustering, and pathway analysis, etc. Normalized root mean square error (NRMSE) value is used to evaluate the performances of most popular five methods (k-nearest neighbors, Bayesian principal component analysis, local least squares, mean and median). When NRMSE values of methods were compared, it has observed that local least squares (LLS) and Bayesian principal component analysis (BPCA) methods outperformed all other methods in all percentages of MVs (1%, 5%, 10%, and 20%). BPCA method has given the best results in all percentages of MVs over the number of probes or genes, whereas LLS method has given the best results in all percentages of MVs over the number of samples. The advantage of these two methods over others is that they are least affected by the complexity of the data set.

In the study, a new technical method/protocol is first proposed in the literature for the biomedical technical services. In this context, energy quality control test and focus adjustment test are made for X-ray radiography systems. The method will provide a unique contribution to the application field of the technical services of biomedical and clinical engineering on quality control assessments of radiology equipment.

Neuronavigation systems and passive usage problem 神经导航系统和被动使用问题

Nowadays, neuronavigation systems are used in brain surgery procedures, known as a technology to help the surgeon during the operational period. However, the surgeons have faced several problems with the existing systems. Some of these problems are related to the systems software and user interfaces. In this study, such problems are examined and the “Passive Usage” term is added to the literature by establishing a connection between the problems of endoscopic surgical procedures and similar issues occurred in other domains. The passive usage problem is generalized on different domains for the first time with this study. The results of the study expected to gather up the similar passive usage problems experienced in different domains. Accordingly, the methodologies and studies that are conducted in different research areas may lead to eliminate the Passive Usage problems efficiently.

However, the surgeons have faced several problems with the existing systems. Some of these problems are related to the systems software and user interfaces. In this study, such problems are examined and the “Passive Usage” term is added to the literature by establishing a connection between the problems of endoscopic surgical procedures and similar issues occurred in other domains. The passive usage problem is generalized on different domains for the first time with this study. The results of the study expected to gather up the similar passive usage problems experienced in different domains. Programmable current source and nerve conduction velocity experimental setup 可编程电流源和神经传导速度实验装置

In this study, programmable current source (PCS) experimental set-up that measures the nerve conduction velocity is designed. Firstly, analog PCS is implemented with integrated circuit of 555. Then, microprocessor-based PCS is designed by improving existing analog design at hand. PCS can produce current signal with adjustable frequency and amplitude. An EMG amplifier circuit is designed to measure the EMG signal from thumb finger muscle stimulated by PCS device. EMG signal is then send to the computer with a serial communication port. Received EMG signals are plotted in MATLAB and some interpretations are given.

Modeling basal ganglia circuits with mass model equations 用质量模型方程模拟基底神经节回路

In order to understand the cognitive processes, motor actions and the behavioral deficits and neurological disorders rising due to malfunctioning of the related neuronal structures, models at different levels are proposed in computational neuroscience. Models developed considering the nonlinear and distributed working principles of neural structures help to reconstruct the processes but are far away from giving an explicit understanding of the phenomena due to their complexity. However, it is not possible to understand these processes thoroughly with very simple models. To build a relation between these different levels of models and to build a mechanism for understanding these processes, in this work linear model approach is considered. Basal ganglia circuits which are effective in motor action initiation, decision making and action selection is considered and in order to guide through more complex computational models and to understand the working principle, a linear system approach is considered. Though the model proposed is very simple, it gives enough insight to understand the role of basal ganglia circuits and the model is able to show the role of dopamine on modulating the inputs from cortex.
