This study aims to analyze growth patterns, condition factors, and gonad maturity of the white-spotted spinefoot (Siganus canaliculatus, Park 1797) in coastal waters of Bontang City, East Kalimantan. Fish samples were collected every month from February to June 2020. Fish were collected using a simple random method from the catches of fishers who landed their fish at the Tanjung Limau port, Bontang City. Fish body length was measured using a digital caliper, and body weight was measured using a digital balance. The results of this study obtained a total of 226 individual fish, consisting of 110 males and 116 females. Male fish have a length ranged from 94.78-197.88 mm and a weight ranged from 18.24-94.30 g, while female fish have a body length ranged from 90.00-201.09 mm and a body weight ranged from 17.98-95.16 g. The length-weight relationship shows a strong correlation (r2=0.967) with the regression equation W=5x10-5L2.721. The fish growth pattern is negative allometric. The average condition factor was 1.08±0.09, which reflected good growth. Gonadal mature of fish are found in May and June, indicating that the fish are ready to spawn.Keywords: condition factor; growth; Siganus canaliculatus

Excessive and periodic use of insecticides has a negative impact on aquatic areas and the biota in them. Pesticides that accumulate in the aquatic environment affect the life non target organisms such as fish. In addition, pesticides can cause damage to the gills, liver, intestines and spleen. This organ plays an important role in the immune system. Thus, an alternative is needed to overcome this problem, one of which is the addition of activated charcoal in the feed. The aims of study to determine the effect of the use of activated charcoal in feed on the histopathological description of the spleen of tilapia exposed to organophosphate pesticides. The study was conducted experimentally by applying 4 treatments and 2 replications as the treatments used included T1 (0% activated charcoal); T2 (1% activated charcoal); T3 (2% activated charcoal); T4 (3% activated charcoal). The test fish used were tilapia measuring 7 ± 0,4 cm long with a stocking density of 30 fish/container. Parameters observed were histopathological description of tilapia spleen at pre exposure, post exposure and after administration of activated charcoal. The results of observations of tissue damage were analyzed descriptively qualitatively and presented in the form of images. The results showed that the addition of 2% activated charcoal (T3) in the feed was able to reduce damage to the spleen due to exposure to organophosphate insecticides. The objective of this study was to inventory the different fishing techniques used for the exploitation of fish in the flooded swamp forest of the Lake Tumba micro-basin on the Mbandaka-Center for Research in Ecology and Forestry (CREF Mabali) road axis in Bikoro in the Equateur Province of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The exchange-based surveys were carried out using a pre-established survey form to exchange with the fishermen working in the different study sites in order to obtain the expected data. The harvesting of fish was done in a traditional manner using the different fishing gears and techniques used by the fishermen in the study area. The results obtained show that the majority of the fishing practices implemented in this area are not sustainable. In total, ten (10) fishing techniques were identified, among which five (5) easily provide fish, namely, creel fishing, scooping, fishing with ichthyotoxic plants, longline fishing and line fishing, which are the most used by the fishermen. Four fishing techniques (fishing with traditional traps, scooping, fishing with ichthyotoxic plants and fishing by weeding the areas) were considered non-selective and capable of creating an imbalance in the different aquatic ecosystems surveyed. This study contributes to the improvement of the knowledge on the exploitation of the animal biodiversity of the Democratic Republic of Congo, on the one hand, and on the other hand, the perpetuation of the knowledge of the local population whose obsolete character is not in doubt.Keywords: Bikoro; Fishing gear; Fishing techniques; Ichthyological fauna; R.D Congo

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving the ratio of Calcium Hydroxide (Ca(OH)2) and Magnesium Sulfate (MgSO4) with different doses on the growth of white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) production in freshwater media. This research was conducted by experimental method using Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The parameter studied was how the effect of the addition of Ca(OH)2 and Magnesium Sulfat (MgSO4) lime with different doses in the maintenance container with 5 treatments and 3 replications, so that 15 experiments were obtained. The treatments applied were: Treatment 1 (P1) Seawater without the addition of calcium and magnesium, P2 Freshwater + 80 ppm Ca(OH)2, P3 Freshwater + 80 ppm Ca(OH)2 and 40 ppm MgSO4, P4 Freshwater + 80 ppm Ca(OH)2 and 80 ppm MgSO4, and P5 Freshwater + 80 ppm Ca(OH)2 and 120 ppm MgSO4. The results showed that the highest survival rate using fresh water was at P4 which was 82%, the specific weight growth rate was 3.9%, and the specific length growth rate was 2.6%. the value of the feed conversion ratio is 0.8. For water quality parameters, the temperature ranges from 30.4-30.60C, water pH 7.2-8.2, DO 6.4-6.6 mg/L, Alkalinity 68-72 ppm, and Ammonia 0.1 mg /L.Keywords: Ca(OH)2; Freshwater; MgSO4; Vannamei Shrimp

The entry of alien predatory fish in Indonesian waters has a negative impact on local ecosystems in Indonesia, foreign predatory fish can spread disease, become main predators and can cause imbalance in the food chain. From this study, we report the presence of alien predatory fish of the type Cichlasoma urophthalmus (Günther 1862) or Mayan Cichlid from tropical waters of North America caught in Kedung Ombo Reservoir, Grobokan Regency, Central Java. The species identification method uses a morphological observation approach based on Miller et al. (2005) and Nico et al. (2007). This finding is the first for the type of Cichlasoma urophthalmus recorded in the Kedung Ombo Reservoir. Physicochemical and textural properties of squid (Loligo vulgaris) muscle treated with organic acids 有机酸处理下鱿鱼肌肉的理化和结构特性

The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of organic acid treatments on tenderizing of squid muscle. Squid samples removed head, skin, viscera, and tentacles and cut into square pieces of 4 x4 cm were soaked into the citric and lactic acid solvents (1 and 2%) and kept in a refrigerator (4°C) for 24 h. It was found that organic acid treatments affected the physicochemical properties of squid. While acid application decreased pH values and water holding capacity, its increased cooking loss and free amino acid content. Texture profile parameters and sensory texture scores did not change significantly after acid treatments. The type and concentration of acids were not effective for all parameters except cooking loss.Keywords: Physicochemical; Organic acids; Squid; Texture

This study aims to determine the effect of adding activated charcoal from tuna bones on the growth of gouramy. This research was conducted at the Integrated Laboratory of the Faculty of Fisheries, Abulyatama University, Aceh. The test fish used were gouramy seeds with a size of 2-3 g and 5-6 cm. This study used a non-factorial completely randomized design, consisting of four treatments and three replications, including A (control; without the addition of activated charcoal), B (addition of 1% activated charcoal in feed), C (addition of 2% activated charcoal in feed), and D (addition of 3% activated charcoal in feed) for 60 days of the rearing period. Fish are kept in an aquarium with a size of 60 x 40 x 40 cm as many as 10 fish per container with a water level of 30 cm. During the maintenance period, fish were fed twice a day at satiation. Parameters measured included survival, absolute weight and length growth, daily growth rate (LPH), and feed conversion ratio (FCR). The data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA). if significantly different, continue further testing using Duncan. The results showed that the addition of 2% tuna bone activated charcoal in feed affected growth performance including in absolute weight and length growth, SGR, and gave the best value on FCR and SR of 8.98 ± 0.20 g; 3.36±0.13cm; 2.60±0.11; 1.63; 100±0.00%.Keywords: activated charcoal; fish bone; growth; Osphronemus gouramy

This study aimed to analyze the structure of the mangrove community including the identification of species, density, frequency, dominance, important value index, and mangrove basal area on Kapo-Kapo Island, Mandeh Region, Pesisir Selatan Regency. Mangrove community structure data collection was carried out by direct observation, starting with data collection and identification of species, number of individuals and diameter of mangrove tree. In collecting data on the structure of the mangrove community, water quality measurements were also carried out pH, salinity, temperature and looking at the substrate of the mangrove. Based on the results of the study, identified species of mangrove in Kapo-Kapo Island, Mandeh Region, Pesisir Selatan Regency, namely R. apiculata, S. casseolaris, and L. littorea. The average values of KR, FR, DR and INP on tree-level mangroves at R. apiculata were 97.00%, 65.00%, 93.02%, and 255.03%. S. casseolaris 1.82%, 28.33%, 6.14%, and 36.29%. L. littorea 1.18%, 6.67%, 0.84%, and 8.68%. The species R. apiculata had the highest Important Value Index from the tree level of the most dominating species on each transect.Keywords: Kapo-Kapo Island; mangrove; structure of the mangrove community

Water quality is one of the determining factors for the success of tiger shrimp in super intensive tiger shrimp culture that has very high productivity, this produces a lot of waste in the form of manure and leftover food which is a trigger for the decline in water quality. This study aims to determine the use of RAS using a different filter arrangement of water quality in the maintenance of tiger shrimp (Panaeus monodon). This research was conducted from August to September 2019 at the Hatchery and Aquaculture Technology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Malikussaleh University. The method used in this study is an experimental method with data collection techniques with a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (RAL) consisting of 4 treatments and 3 replications that were treatment A without filter (control), treatment B: physics filter, chemical filter, biological filter, treatment C: chemical filter, biological filter, physics filter, and treatment D: biological filter, physics filter, chemical filter. The results showed that the use of different filter arrangements in RAS has an influence on water quality parameters except for temperature, increase in length, and weight and has a very significant effect on survival. Effectiveness of different dosages of vitamin E on the maturation of freshwater lobster (Cherax quadricarinatus) 不同剂量维生素E对淡水龙虾成熟的影响

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of different doses of vitamin E on the maturation of freshwater crayfish (Cherax quadricarinatus). The method used was a Randomized Block Design (RAK) with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments in this study were P1 (control), P2 (vitamin E 150 mg/kg feed), P3 (vitamin E 300 mg/kg feed), and P4 (vitamin E 450 mg/kg feed). Parameters observed in this study were Gonad Maturity Index (GIC), fecundity, and egg diameter.The results of Duncan's analysis showed that the increasing vitamin E to feed was significantly different (P<0.05) with treatment without increasing vitamin E to LAT maturation such as gonadal maturity index, fecundity, and egg diameter. However, administering different doses of vitamin E (150 mg/kg of feed, 300 mg/kg of feed, and 450 mg/kg of feed) had no significant effect on LAT maturation. The treatment without the increasing vitamin E did not show maturity, which was indicated by the value of all parameters 0, while the treatment with the increasing vitamin E to the feed resulted in a range of IKG values, fecundity, and egg diameter respectively was 8.28 - 9.84%, 230.66 - 30.66 eggs and 0.46 – 0.48 mm. The best treatment in this study was treatment with a dose of vitamin E 450 mg/kg feed because it had the highest reproductive performance and could accelerate gonadal maturity in LAT.Keywords: Egg Diameter; Fecundity; Freshwater Lobster; Maturation; Vitamin E
