The aim of this article was to establish the features of alliances coordination, through the analysis of the artifacts roles in these activities, as a way to deepen the knowledge about how can these artifacts, present in routines and processes, help to enhance the alliances coordination. For this, it was used the qualitative methodology. Moreover, it involved the case study strategy in a TI company, where data was collected through interviews with managers responsible for the coordination in their companies. The hierarchy levels chosen were 2 and 3, so as to avoid biases of the functional areas. Not only could this study contribute to understand which activities are present in the alliance coordination, but it also analyzed how the artifacts influence these activities, as well as how they can enhance the skills of alliances coordination.

A variety of factors have been proposed as antecedents of the compulsive buying behavior, such as family structure, materialism, socialization, demographic variables, self‐esteem, anxiety and introversion. However, these factors are usually investigated by independent studies and hence there is a lack of integration of such factors in a conceptual framework, in which the main factors could be tested altogether. Hence, this study proposes and tests a comprehensive model that integrates the main factors related to the compulsive buying behavior. A survey was conducted with 226 adolescents, from 13 to 18 years old. Results indicated that higher scores in the following variables were associated with greater propensity to compulsive buyer behavior: materialism, socialization, anxiety, introversion, parents” compulsive buyer behavior and socio‐economic status.

The Managerial State Reform started in 1995 possible the introduction of Quality Programs in Public Administration. The GesPública, the current program since 2005, has as one of assumptions, focus on outcomes for citizens. The adoption of this focus resulted in the need of restructuring of External and Internal Controls in Public Administration at the same time that the Federal Government has provided the means for a new inspection process: the Social Control. Under the Navy of Brazil (MB), the restructuring of External Control caused the creation of the Center for Internal Control of the Navy (CCIMAR), Military Organization (OM) responsible for performing the tasks of supervision and audit of that institution. Due to increases in the activities of control administration, the research has the objective: to describe and discuss the contribution of Internal Control of the Navy to achieve the Excellence in Public Management in the Navy, according to the perception of those responsible to submit the accounts of the Units under the Jurisdiction of the OM of the MB. For this, we carried out a field research through the application of semi‐structured interviews with persons responsible for making the Management Report, which is an integral document process accountability to the Court of Audit. The result of the analysis suggests that those responsible for presenting the accounts of the Units under the jurisdiction of the Navy understand the contribution of the Internal Control to reach Management Excellence Public.

In this article, the classic institutional theories will be revisited, systematizing a conceptual analysis to be applied to studies of agribusiness systems in the coffee business context. Based on the analysis of institutional theories, the historical context of the institutional environment of the coffee agribusiness system in Brazil took place, emphasizing the collective actions of the Federation of the Cerrado Coffee Growers (FCC). From this context, it was shown that the new institutional economics from the aspect of transaction costs economy produces an analysis of these strategies consistent production systems from the conceptual point of view and that the new institutional sociology presents different approaches another perspective. It is proposed the combination of the classics of new economic sociology to classical sociological theory of social capital as a possibility for the enrichment of the theoretical discussion of this topic. A comparative table was proposed to the applicability of institutional theories to the study of SAG's. Finally, a set of points for reflections and guiding questions for further studies were made.

Market orientation is the ability of an organization has to understand and satisfy their customers by identifying their needs and suitability of products and services offered. This capacity generates benefits like increased sales, profitability, turnover and employee satisfaction. The objective of this research was to identify with employees of an Information Technology company factors, in their perception, affect guidance for the enterprise market. A quantitative, descriptive, cross‐sectional survey, through questionnaires answered by 177 employees of a company in the sector, which were later analyzed data generated by multiple linear regression was performed. After analysis, it was found, in the opinion of employees, the company can achieve better market orientation to hear the concerns and customer complaints, conduct market research, maintain an adequate level of internal communication and develop products and services aligned with what the customer wants.

This paper explores a Competitive Intelligence process, developed to monitor the external environment through the use of weak signals in order to anticipate opportunities and threats. It compares the implementing of two environmental scanning process using a method proposed by Lesca (2003); Lesca e Lesca (2011, 2014) in two foreign companies – American and French ‐ located in a Brazilian context. The aim of the paper is to explore and understand a competitive intelligence process, through a case study, identifying the main aspects influencing the implementation process. It is possible to identify some factors that are important in the method adoption like: easy planning and organization, the alignment of the information about the process among participants, creation of an implementation committee, among others. The key success factor for the implementation are: effective production of intelligence (beyond simple production and diffusion of information, the need of top management support, discipline and flexibility. Finally the method allowed considerable effectiveness, producing positive results to the companies that used them. Results goes from communication improvement, internal team network increased, better understanding of the market.

Studies on human behavior have sought to understand human needs in organizational context in order to contribute to employee satisfaction, considering the impact generated performance, productivity and worker health. The present study aims to analyze job satisfaction through the Job Satisfaction Scale (EST) constructed and validated by Siqueira (2008). The study was conducted in a public hospital in the city of Campo Maior in Piauí. The measure contained 25 items associated with an amplitude scale of 7 points, applied to 182 employees. Exploratory and confirmatory procedures for interpretation and analysis factor analysis were used. Among the factors the scale used, the results showed that job satisfaction in the public hospital is related the leadership, coworkers and promotions.

The organizations nowadays face the challenge of dealing with heterogeneous groups, which are formed due to diverse characteristics of active people in the labor market. One of these diversities is used to be the age, that generates peculiar behaviors in each age group. This paper aims at making a descriptive analysis about the perception of Y, X generations and baby boomers on the competences of intelligent careers – knowing‐how, knowing‐why and knowing‐whom. We did this analysis from an organizational climate survey applied in 2007, with 491 companies operating in Brazil, involving 143,445 respondents. The results show the differences of perception among the groups we studied, accordingly to the descriptions we found on the literature about the professional behavior of people who were born in different periods, that dealt with different realities in the labor world. We observed that the most mature people (baby boomers, born between 1946 and 1964) perceive more positively the three groups of competences, mainly the knowing‐why group, connected to the work meaning. We also show that there are some specificities between Y and X generations as, for example, the youngest (Y generation, born from 1978) believe more strongly that they will have opportunities to make a career and grow at the company where they work at.
