Infrastructure development is fundamental to the success of a country to achieve the status of the developed nation. However, the development made is deemed to be unsuccessful without a high culture of maintenance to maintain the existing infrastructure. Nevertheless, the effort is unworthy since the performance level for the maintenance of an immovable asset in Malaysia, especially those that belong to Local Authorities are still at an inadequate level. Local Authorities hold a large number of facilities that place demands on resources. The purpose of this research was carried to produce a structural model for developing of maintenance culture in Malaysian local authorities. Keywords: maintenance culture; measurement model; structural model eISSN 2398-4295 © 2019. http://dx.doi.org/10.21834/ajbes.v4i15.170

Cohousing is a new collaborative housing concept to foster closer social bonding and sustainable communities. This paper discusses the key principles, priorities, and challenges of Cohousing design through interviews with four architects and four Cohousing community residents. The interviews were carried out 1) to demonstrate the application of the design standards, 2) to understand residents’ thinking and behaviour change, and 3) to establish the environmental and social sustainability in a cohousing setting. The findings could lead to a toolkit and guide for Cohousing design process and to establish a better understanding of Cohousing design and development process in the UK.Keywords: Cohousing Community; Cohousing Design; Environmental Sustainability; Social Sustainability;eISSN 2398-4295 © 2018. Central Business Districts (CBDs) in developing countries continue to experience adverse effects of automobile dominance but most car-free initiatives are concentrated in developed countries. This study evaluates the significance of car-free streets in developing countries by evaluating perceptions of street users and the priorities of key decision makers in Nairobi, Kenya. Based on structured interviews, the results indicate differences in perceptions towards safety comfort and connectivity in varying traffic conditions. From in-depth interviews, it is clear that decision makers have focused on smooth flow and parking of automobiles, order, and security of adjacent premises while side-lining the affairs of pedestrians. Keywords: Car-free; pedestrians; livability; StreeteISSN 2398-4295 © 2018. Autism is a lifelong handicap that affects their social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech, and nonverbal communication, as well as by unique strengths and differences. Knowing them as a unique person, designated learning environment should consider the sensory issues to overcome their needs. However, designers are lack of awareness in terms of sensory design during their design stage. The objective is to identify the sensory design of the classroom environment, while the paper aims to develop the Design Criteria Checklist of sensory design for Autism Centre. Children are the future guardian of the Earth. Environmental Education (EE) at preschool level is crucial for instilling environmental stewardship. This paper discusses how preschool designs can be manipulated to facilitate and enhance the EE implementation. In summary, it is suggested that preschool settings should be designed to maximise children’s interaction with nature. It not only helps to optimise children’s development and literacy but also contributes to the prediction of their intentions to appreciate and to protect the environment. Findings are useful for Malaysian policy makers and designers in designing preschools that are sustainable and support EE.Keywords: Malaysian preschool; green preschool design; children environmental behavior; environmental education.eISSN 2398-4295 © 2018. The paper presented a method for solving a construction planning problem in a housing development project using a mathematical model which is an integer linear programming for dividing house construction jobs to three contractors in a project case study. 169 units of the houses in the project would be constructed by the three contractors in two methods, conventional construction method and precast method. The results found a minimum construction cost of the project was 417.69 million baht (M$13.92), and within the total project duration of 72 months. Conclusions and recommendations were discussed in this article. Keywords: Housing Development Project, Mathematical Model, Precast Concrete Construction.eISSN 2398-4295 © 2018. The Authors.
