In the work environment, colour is considered an important design element used to improve aesthetic qualities of the environment and for a company’s branding. This paper reviews existing research on the effects of workplace colour on worker’s mood, wellbeing and other work-related outcomes. In total 40 papers fitted the inclusion criteria and were included in the review. The results show a significant influence of colour on affect (e.g. mood, emotion), wellbeing (e.g. stress, comfort, wellbeing), and performance (e.g. productivity, performance, creativity). The review concludes with suggestions for further research. Keywords: Colour perception; Colour psychology; Effect of colour; Work environment.eISSN 2398-4295 © 2018. The Authors. This study investigated what consumers’ feelings were evoked when they touched different textured surfaces of 20 compact powder cases. Without seeing them, fifty respondents with and without an art-and-design-based background were asked to describe their feelings in their words as they touched the cases as well as explain them by provided words. The results show that different surface textures did evoke different respondents’ feelings of which those familiar with the design were able to express a wider range. All participants were able to describe both the initial sense of physicality and complex feelings toward every textured surface investigated. Keywords:senseof touch; textured surfaces; cosmetic packaging; consumers’ feelings.eISSN 2398-4295 © 2018. 由马来西亚玛拉理工大学建筑、规划与测量学院AMER(马来西亚环境行为研究协会)、ABRA(亚洲行为研究协会)和cE-Bs(环境行为研究中心)负责的同行评审。DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.21834/ajbes.v3i13.154

Assessment of Physiological Equivalent Temperature (PET) in Transitional Spaces of a High-Rise Building

One passive approach that can significantly reduce energy usage in high-rise buildings is through the creation of non-air conditioned spaces such as transitional spaces. Optimizing passive design would reduce wastage associated with the building’s energy consumption. The study measures the thermal comfort of three types of transitional spaces (sky court, balcony, and rooftop) in a high-rise office building. Based on the assessment of Physiological Equivalent Temperature (PET), the outcome showed significant differences in PET in all locations in both wet and dry season. The effectiveness of such area can be improved with the contributions of landscape, maximizing natural ventilation and day lighting where possible. Keywords: Thermal comfort; transitional spaces; high-rise; Physiological Equivalent TemperatureeISSN 2398-4295 © 2018. 由马来西亚玛拉理工大学建筑、规划与测量学院AMER(马来西亚环境行为研究协会)、ABRA(亚洲行为研究协会)和cE-Bs(环境行为研究中心)负责的同行评审。

Microclimatic Conditions of an Urban Square: Role of built environment and geometry
Pub Date : 2015-01-27 DOI: 10.21834/AJBES.V3I12.128

Geometry plays a dominant role in thermal situations within city structures. This study aims to seek how this role affects thermal comfort of the visitors in an urban square. Computer simulations were performed along with physical measurements in an urban square during peak hot conditions of summer in Isfahan, Iran. In addition to the influence of built environment inside the square, the results confirmed the role of geometry on thermal conditions. The amelioration effect for the aspect ratio was higher than that of the orientation. Findings are useful for urban design strategies dealing with thermal comfort. Keywords: Thermal comfort; urban square; geometry; built environment eISSN 2398-4295 © 2018. The Authors. 由马来西亚玛拉理工大学建筑、规划与测量学院AMER(马来西亚环境行为研究协会)、ABRA(亚洲行为研究协会)和cE-Bs(环境行为研究中心)负责的同行评审
